Only of its kind?

I wonder if this spell is the only one of its kind? No matter what buffs I have placed on me at lvl 86 I can always cast this on anyone regardless of level/buffs. I always cast this on pets in my group or passing by. I get a small smile knowing we can still throw this out there no matter what.
IoS/Altuna
# Oct 15 2007 at 8:37 AM Rating: Decent
In my opinion, using IoS with Altuna is a great combo for both under and over level 46. With the under 46 players, you end maxing out there stats most of the time, and you add a ton of HP, add that to a Temp and those level 46 characters are very, very happy.

As for the higher ups, you still add a load of HP, add that to a Virt or higher, and with the higher stat buffs you'd be able give a lot of HP.

Granted, for raids, you're better off using your Focus on raids, but while soloing or just in a normal group, using IoS with Altuna or any other HP buff works very well.

Bane of my shammy's life
# Jun 13 2005 at 7:54 AM Rating: Decent
This spell is rapidly becoming the bane of my shammy's life. Since the merger on Drinal the price has gone up to 10-12k in bazaar and after having done about 5-6 turn ins (most of which weren't my parchments but guildie's) I still don't have it. So for me there really isn't a debate whether this is better than HoS (am lvl 52 ATM) because it's simply become ridiculously hard to acquire.

Focus/HoS vs IoS and Buff Slots
# Aug 05 2004 at 1:33 PM Rating: Excellent
Interesting to read all the debate on whether Focus/HoS is better than IoS or vice versa. Both sides of the argument are right depending on the situation.

Some facts on hp per stamina. (If you want the specifics for your toon, go to www.magelo.com and look in the laboratory forums for the formulae.)

1. The amt of hp varies by class and level
2. The amt of hp varies by aa (natural durability and physical enhancement in particular)
3. The amt of hp is halved for stamina between 255 and 305.

For a 65 ranger with ND3 and PE, I get a little less than 5hp per sta up to 255 and 2.5hp per sta from 256-305. My unbuffed stamina with my normal gear equipped is 207. I do not have the planar power aa's so my sta is capped at 280.

So for me....

IoS + Kraggs + Riotous Health/Tali Brute

approx 390 raw hp (61 shaman casting)
approx 303hp from stamina 48sta*5hp + 25sta*2.5hp
Total 693hp

Khura's + Riotous Health/Tali Brute

approx 435 raw hp (61 shaman casting)
approx 245 hp from stamina 48sta*5hp + 2sta*2.5hp
Total 680hp

For me, 13hp isn't enough to make it worth using up 3 buff slots instead of 2 and asking the shaman to cast 2 single target and mana expensive spells plus a group sta buff on every player. Khura's plus Tali Brute is much easier on the buffer, and everyone should take that into consideration as well.

If someone was very low on stamina (i.e. 160 or less) then the Kragg/IoS/Tali Brute combo would end up being noticeably better. If a player has higher unbuffed stamina than my ranger(i.e. 240ish or more) then Khuras is not only more shaman friendly but also more hp for the recipient.

For those who talk about wanting IoS plus all the individual buffs, there are 3 things to think about.

1. Those str and dex buffs aren't game alteringingly powerful.
2. Trying to keep 6 buffs up on a group will make a shammy EXTREMELY irritable. ;-)
3. You will soon run into buff slot issues.

Here's my specific buff set for the ranger.

Run Speed Buff (SoW or SoE)
3 self buffs (Protection of the Wild, Bladecoat, and Mask of the Stalker)
KEI
Virtue
Haste
Spiritual Dominion or other BL buff
Clicky DS from 8th Coldain Ring
Avatar (proc'd from prismatic weap or cast)
Open slot for HoT (heal over time)
Open slot for NPC DoT/Debuff/AE
Resist buff (situational)

That leaves only 2 buff slots for shaman buffs. If you click off non critical stuff like bladecoat and possibly the resist buff if not necessary, you might get 3-4 slots. Then again, you might end up with less if you use Kazad/B9 instead of virtue, want an agi buff, need to leave a slot open for a necro or sk "recourse" spell, etc.

Hard to justify using HoS over Tali Kragg and IoS though. The raw hp difference is enough to make that decision regardless of whether you add riotous health to the mix or not.

Just my 2 copper on the topic.

Ditch the DS from the Coldain Ring, ditch PotW and BC and use Warders Protection, there's two buff slots open now.

As a druid non-raid/group -

Mask of the Forest
Protection of the Nine
Koadic's Endless Intellect
Brackencoat
Spirit of Eagle
Blessing of Replenishment

As a druid raid/group -

Mask of the Forest
Protection of the Nine
Symbol of Kazad
Voice of Quellious
Spirit of Eagle
Brells Stalwart Shield
Focus of Soul
Tali Brute
Brackencoat
Protection of Seasons
Guard of Druzzil

Anything else, I usually click off - espically Diaku. That leaves plenty of room for HoT / AE's or situtational buffs; and I thought the buff limit was 15? >_<

There's no need to debate which is better here, cause either way, there'll be someone in PoK whoring the buffs out for you.

No?

Protecton of the Wild is the level 65 upgrade to Warder's protection. I already mentioned that Bladecoat is expendable if not tanking. The insta clicky DS is a must against dispelling mobs.

IoS
# May 15 2004 at 10:20 AM Rating: Decent
I wasn't a believer of IoS + Kragg better than Focus until finally I put the rumors to rest. From 49 to 62 I'll be asking a shammy for IoS and Kragg over HoS anyday of the week. Not only does it get me over the 5500hp mark (Level 56 Ranger w/ Virtue) but it maxes all my stats, stacks with my personal buffs and seems more mana efficient in my opinion (Shammy seems happier with this duo..) so that's my opinion... I won't be asking for HoS or Focus in Pok anymore... unless there's a nice lil MGB where I might go grab it.

Definatly not more mana efficient since focus has group versions and lasts longer. True over all stats are better stacking buffs like this but you run into problem of having a full buff bar. Its good to have a buff slot or 2 open for heal over time spells, i occasionally have to ask people to drop a buff so i can use quiessence for healing. Also if you are maloed, rooted, dotted or whatever by the mob this will overwrite one of your buffs if your buff bar is full.

Shaman need IoS?

With Ethereal parchments(as well as Sprectral and runes) you do NOT have to be a BeastLord (or any other class) to turn in the parchments to the class NPC who has the spell you want.

Last night I got 3 Ethereal Parchments in BoT (they drop alot there and often rot). I turned in 2 parchments to the beastlord NPC in the Library WITH my Shaman and got the IoS on the second turn in. I then took the third Parchment to the Cleric turn in NPC and got a Symbol spell for a guildie.

If you are a shaman don't think you need to pay scalper's prices in the bazaar for this spell, you only need an Ethereal Parchment and to find the BST NPC in the Library to turn it into (and a little luck that you get IoS back rather than some other BST spell).

Beastlord stack with IOS
# Dec 05 2003 at 7:31 PM Rating: Decent
I just dinged 61 yesterday and got this spell. FYI Frenzy, Dexterity, Stamina, and Furious strength all stack with Infusion of Spirit. This was probably mentioned earlier here but I didn't see it and this was an issue for me when I was approaching 61. A very nice spell indeed.
For a Beastlord
# Oct 10 2003 at 9:44 AM Rating: Decent
I have a 54 beastlord on RN, and have a question about IoS and Focus. I'm not sure on the stats, but I think that you can stack IoS/Kragg/Spiritual Vigor line. Now this gives beastlords more Stamina than the Focus/Vigor because Focus gives Strength and Dex, but no stamina (lets face it, beastlords need all the hit points they can get due to our less than stellar AC). So for those of you playing beastlords, which do you prefer? Focus, or IoS/Kragg?
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 23 2003 at 1:13 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) catpurr, are you just stupid or what? FoSoul doesn't stack with anything? OMG, I guess all those people must be blind when they see Diaku, Boar, and Wrulan on top of FoSoul. So many people can't be wrong when they ask me to mgb Fo7 (group version of FoSoul, thought I'd explain that since you seem lost catpurr) at a raid. Want more hp? Use FoSoul, Kragg, and get a druid to cast 9 on you. That's more hp and virtue and FoSoul even. With that combination you even boost your mana regen. You sound like a ticked off BL who hasn't learned the other classes at all and is just mad that shaman can also cast a spell that you want for yourself. So nothing stacks with Fo7? You have much to learn catpurr.

Love it when one person calls another stupid then say something like,
Quote:
Use FoSoul, Kragg, and get a druid to cast 9 on you.

Focus & Kragg do not stack.

catpurr's post stared off with a gross exaggeration, they should not have used the words 'everything' and 'nothing', and ends with a couple of rather whiney comments.
But the bulk of the post was accurate and informative.
RE: catpurr, do you really know which spells stack?

Yes, it stacks with Kazad's, which is what I meant onstead of Kragg. But it does stack with Kragg, since Kragg is also a healing spell. Look at all of catpurr's posts on this spell. It's not just "gross exaggeration". It's pure hate and made up stories.

IOS
# Jun 15 2003 at 6:21 PM Rating: Decent
This is a very nice spell, has very nice stackability, while it does give greater benifits then focus, keep in mind the fact that it will use up alot more buff slots then focus, which is same reason many melee prefer virtue over nine + kazaad + ac buff. Not to mention it takes longer to single this, then mgb focus. So while this may be great for groups, dont expect to always have this on a raid, you need to prioritize your buffs, afterall there are only 15 slots.
RE: IOS
# Jun 24 2003 at 5:03 PM Rating: Decent
I have prioritized my buffs.

Some of the buffs cast on raids are really melee only, i.e., Call (etc) of Predator, Talisman of Wrulan, Talisman of Diaku. By clicking off these buffs, generally there is room for IoS and self skins.

Unless mobs are pure melee, no casters, I go with my self shield and IoS everytime. MR very is often more important to me than another 200 HP, which is all Focus of the Soul gives me over IoS and Shield of the Arcane. Hit points are nice, but resisting more spells is nicer. By clicking off all of the melee only buffs, I always have room for IoS and two slots open for heal over time spells.

In a raid, generally we get mgb focus, then IoS on casters and clerics who want it. The clerics especially like it because it lets them keep their mana regen self armor. In their case, mana regen is more important to them than hit points.

IoS+Kragg combos with other stat buffs is good
till you reach 62 and get FoS and then the
group version at 65th. At that point Shammies
dont need to use IoS anymore, you get 12 more
hp with the upgrade focus than the IoS+kragg
and it only takes 1 slot and lasts much longer.
If I could just get these STUPID beastlords
to understand that Fo7th(is greater than)IoS+Kragg life would be so much easier.

Ps. The clueless person that said shammies

RE: IoS stops at 62
# Jun 11 2003 at 10:32 AM Rating: Decent
actually if i could just get those STUPID shamans to realize that MANY players DONT WANT Focus of any kind....and that FO7th IS NOT better than IOS+Kragg then life would be alot easier...

IOS...Stacks with EVERYTHIING...Focus of any kind stacks with NOTHING....so no matter how you look at it....IOS>any focus....

Focus gimps many players of HP buffs/shields, etc...that THEY want....

Ive many many times been in a raid where the 65 Shaman said in raid chat..."casting MGB FOS gather round" only to have about 1/4 of everyone run like rats off of a sinking ship OOR as fast as possible....that list of players running includes Clerics/Enchanters/Wizards/Dr00ds/ALL Beastlords/plus a few assorted Warriors/SKs/Pallys that dont have max stats from gear....

I on many ocaisions have several Warriors that regularly ask for IOS+Kragg right after the shaman has cast FOS, saying they have clicked it off....
Granted these are Warriors that are not maxed in Sta/Dex from equipment, so the effect is an extra 121Hps over FOS....but also IOS+Kragg+Dex gives at least an extra 55 Dex thats welcomed by many esp if you have a nice proc on your weapons.

So basically its like this....IF you are a player that is equiped to the max, in some Uber guild all decked out with killer armor then FOS is fine and dandy.....but the other 95% of us that arent, IOS>Focus anyday....

Myself i much prefer IOS+Kragg+Str+Dex....and since Boar stacks with it I end up with an extra
31Hps/35Dex/30Str/35Atk...which ill take anyday...

Unless of course some shaman wants to cast Avatar on me every 6 mins....
But with my own buffs plus Boar & Wrulan or SOV i can Max my stats to 305 Str/Sta/Agi/Dex.....I cant do that with Focus without Avatar.

Clerics get thier I think Bulwarks & Armor shields ganked with focus leaving them with 350-450 less HPs AND 7-8 less mana regen..

Enchanters and i think Wizards/Necros/Mages lose a shield that gives them and extra 350Hps/40+ac/40magic resist...
Im sure others get something ganked also....

I think SOE should make it so nothing Overwrites ANYTHING without prior consent...except for NPC spells of course....
We need a /No Overwrite command.....

I DONT want Focus...period...and i shouldnt be forced to run like a rat everytime its cast or click it off and rebuff....It sucks...

another lil joy, is to have a freaking lvl 60 Cleric MGB Aego on everyone right after they have just been fully buffed with BOT9+Kazad+Ward of Gallantry...thats a loss of ..
428Hps/32AC/8 Mana regen....

Buffs over writting one another is complete BS....

Also IOS "should" be a Beastlord ONLY spell anyway, its one of our parchment turn ins....

One additional benefit of this spell is that it stacks with Enchanter, Cleric, and Wizard skins whereas the focus line does not.

Enchanter skins give them HP and MR.
Cleric skins give them HP and mana regen.
I am not sure what wizard skins give.

Chanters, clerics, and wizards in my guild would much rather have Infusion of Spirit + their own skin than Khura's Focusing...

Having only a 52 Shammy this seems like it would be better overall stat wise. All I can think is..
IOS Stacked buff Total Benefit
-------- -------------- --------------
Str 50 + Strength 67 = 117 to Str
Dex 55 + Dexterity 50 = 105 to Dex
Sta 45 + Stamina 40 = 95 to Sta

Then you add in Talisman of Altuna which gives the same health boost as HoS does. 250.. Seems like you would end up wih some either maxed or nearly maxed stats in alot of cases. Has to be probably another 100 health or so in there and the dex is amazing for proc. Now the only problem is getting people on my server to stop charging 7kp for this spell so us level 49 + shamans can actually use it.

This is a great spell. I am a 57 shammy and finally found this spell in the bazaar. It's great that it buffs Dex, Str and Sta in one shot but the best thing is it also stacks with our regular Dex, Str and Sta spells. I does stack with Kragg and I have yet to buff a tank that is even interested in HoS after they get this combination. Yes, it's 5 spells but for the benefits it's worth the casting.
