With my spell extensions, this is an 11+ min buf.

It is NOT a fixed length skin buf that mezzes mobs that hit you.
It's a rune, when you get smacked a few times the rune gets used up and it and the skin are gone, poof. When the rune poofs, the mez effect goes hits the mobs

At 75 I seem to have the following runes

1a. Draconic rune (Takes precedence over AA) (2340 damage)
1b. Eldrich rune (AA) (various damage)

2a. Aegis of Alendar-level 73 (2496 damage)
2b. Wall of Alendar-Level 68 (2080 damage)
2c, Legion of Alendar-group (The Alendar's overwrite each other, self vs group)(2496 damage)

3a, Rune of Ellowind (Overwritten by Polychromatic) (1800 damage)
3b, Polychromatic Rune (overwritten by Ellowind) (1800 damage)

4. Epic 1.5 (Protection of eye) (1500 damage)

The a's and B's and C's overwrite each other.

You can see that Polychromatic does not stack with ellowind, it overwrites it.

In my opinion, the benefits of this Rune are *far* outweighed by the drawbacks.

Even though we *know* it's a buff, it doesn't count as one. So our "Quick Buff" AA, "Spell Casting Reinforcement" AA, "Spell Casting Reinforment Mastery" AA, buff extension Foci, and beneficial spell mana preservation Foci have *no* effect on it.

Thus, you end up with a *very* mana-intensive spell that lasts only 7.5 minutes, and takes a LONG time to cast (if in mid-combat, which is where you'd mostly want to use it; mana cost too high, and duration too low, to try and keep it up 24/7). Cast time precludes using it as a "Get Out of Death Free"-type Rune spell.

Until they tweak this thing, I'm sticking with my current lineup (in buff box order as given below):

Aegis of Abstraction (2.0 Epic)
Draconic Rune (Ethereal Rune from ToB Robe / Rune of Shadows AA as backups)
Rune of Ellowind Rk. II
Aegis of Alendar Rk. II

Thus, when something starts beating on me, the second it penetrates my Epic rune the -Hate proc goes off; this usually leaves my Draconic/Ellowind Runes up as backup, in case I manage to acquire further aggro before I can re-cast my Epic rune.

That's because all of those Focus Effects cap at level seventy.

ADDENDUM: Apparently, this was a bug or oversight that Sony has since repaired. It does cast and extend per the dictates of our focus now.

they would still go off even at 75 , they don't stop working at 70, they merely lose 10% of their power for each level over 70. if you look at Lucy's spell info on this you see that it is Not Classified as a buff, which is why the focus effects don't Fire of At all.

it's been fixed now though

Nice defensive proc, but rather mana intensive. Am having a hard time thinking of a situation this would be worthwhile, I'm sure there is, I just haven't come across it yet.

In a situation where you have a few too many mobs beating on you, making it impossible to cast a spell, this comes in handy. Rune breaks, mobs stunned, I can lock them down.

No, this does *not* proc an AE Boggle like the 1.5/2.0 Epics do; instead, this procs a PB AE stun, much like the Color line, once the Rune has been penetrated.

So make sure you have your 2.0 Rune up, otherwise you'll jump WAY ahead on the Hate list of every mob in the area of effect.

Nope. The proc generates -1 hate. So nothing will come eat you. The major problem with this spell is that it only lasts 7.5 minutes. Put it at the top of the list so it gets eaten first -- it's good to put on if you know you're fighting 75 or lower stunnable mobs. It's also good as just an extra self rune if you have free mana at any time.

Hmm... too bad about the mana cost for the duration, ah well. I'm guessing the polychromatic rune strike effect is a memory blur similar to the epic 1.5/2.0 clickie, no?
