I read that the Vah shir will be able to be bards. I am not going to say that all bards now adays are twinks but almost every bard under the 20th lvl now has a full suit of Lambent armor(mid lvl bard quest armor) and This is the only thing i can sya with pride b/c it is almost always true. Bards are a massively overtwinked class(not saying they are the only twinked class). Remember when Kunark 1st came out and there was a mad rush when tons of ppl made iksar(mainly monks) and twinked them through the roof(expecially monks). Well when the new expansion comes out I wonder if there will be just a HUGE amount of twinking of the Vah Shir Bards. hey mabey so much gear will flow into the new Race that they will just explode thus preventing a mass Twinkfest.

This post in no way is a diss on twinkin, just a talk on how the comb of a commonly twinked class and a new race could mean somemajor twinkin

true but **** the damn bards its gonna be mostly beastlord vah shirs running around the place twinked through the roof!
Running Around
# Oct 28 2001 at 6:51 PM Rating: Default
This probably won't happen but it would be cool:

Since the gravity is different on the moon, the Vah Shir run faster than all other races on their planet, although the speed for them is the same as most normal races on Norrath. This is due to the fact that their leg muscles have been toned for hundreds of years.

When they come to Norrath, they run with permanent sow, because of their extra strength.
RE: Running Around
# Nov 20 2001 at 1:46 PM Rating: Good
Okay now. This is assuming Norrath's moon is similar in respective size and gravitation as Earth is to it's moon. What if Luclin is bigger than Norrath? Hrmmm? What say you then? If the respective Moon/Luclin to Earth/Norrath gravitations are the same, wouldn't moon creatures have a very difficult time moving around on Norrath? Hrmm, yes. What if Luclin has reverse gravity and all the Vahshir float back to Luclin when they come to Norrath? What if the Vashir bring a plague to Norrath and the only race that survives is the Trolls; who are much like a rat or cockroach. What if the Cubs play the Beastlords in the World Series and actually win?
RE: Running Around
# Nov 03 2001 at 2:39 PM Rating: Decent
I would have to agree with the first person who replied (whoever that is). I've been in a harness that simulates moon gravity and you have to hop like a kangaroo or use some other wierd method of locomotion and its HARD. However, if you go on earth after doing that all your life, walking would seem hard and would tax thier stamina and make them encumbered

Still, I doubt theyll do that. It's fantasy, not science. (not that I've got a problem with science, but the two rarely mix well)

Actually, their leg muscles would atrophy compared to the Norrath. On the moon, gravity is about 1/6 of earth norm. So the terran based critters would outperfom the lunnar critters. The lunnar critters would simply know how to maneuver in a low G situation. The terran critters will overexert for a needed action.

When they arrive on Norrath, they may not be able to move. granted, i am assuming earth/moon gravity is analagous to the the Norrath/luclin environment.
RE: Running Around
# Dec 03 2001 at 12:21 AM Rating: Default
Yeah, if the moon creatures were able to run around norrath faster... well, science just prevents anything of the sort. Obviously, Luclin is much larger than our Moon because it is able to hold an atmosphere, but is much thinner. So, They would be much WEAKER, but because of breathing that thin atmosphere for so long, have a high stamina.
#Anonymous, Posted: Oct 28 2001 at 8:00 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) THEY LIVE ON THE DAMN MOON FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!! WHAT NEXT ROCKET SHIPS OR GUNS TO MAKE RANGERS GOOD???? WHAT THE HELL WHERE THE THINKING WHEN THEY THOUGHT OF WHERE THEIR R FROM???? I think that they where all setting around passing around a joint or crack pipe or something and then one of them had a vision, a vision of EQ on the MOON!!!! Also why r they putting in those alien looking things that u see in the Tease pics? I just had to get the off of my chest that I find their new work kind of confusing. I am the only one, i don't think so.
RE: The MOON?!?!
# Nov 03 2001 at 3:03 PM Rating: Good
Scuse me Mr. Spammer, but Gnomes are perfectly capable of making Spacecraft (If you want to call them Rocket Ships be my guest). If you dont like the moon, dont go there, and you are a bit of a cliche saying that they are smoking crack because that is the popular explination for 99 out of 100 strange decisions made by poeple, but this assumption is almost always wrong. If you read the legend of the creation of Norrath, It had some pretty nasty fighting, and this Lucilin Person said "Do I want to go and join them? Hmmm.....No." So Luce found a nice little thing that nobody had noticed and decided to make the Vah Shir there. Can we blame Luce? Of course not. This is not the moon we look at at night you fool. All the ancient civilizations made up nice myths about the moon and in EQ these are true. For crying out loud cool off and don't buy the expansion if you have problems with it. Oh, yeah, we Rangers dont have to "Borrow" some little items from the future to be good. I don't see how you poeple can think we suck. The only explination I can think of is AC deficiancy. Have you ever heard of AGILITY? How about FINNESE? Or perhaps TACTICS! Wow, new words! At least we can do something other than play the punching bag tactic that the warriors are so fond of... Now, lets imagine a world where everyone went around yelling pointless spam about decisions they didn't like, then saying that it was because the poeple who made those decisions were on crack, and then bringing in something that has nothing to do with thier original topic, criticizing it, and getting everyone in the world pissed off at everyone else in the world, causing war, death, mayhem, and bloodshed for no apparent reason. Congradulations, Anon! You have taken the first step at making this wonderful dream a reality! Hats off to all of you who want to make the world go boom before it's time was intended to come! Oh, yeah, what the hell do you mean by alien looking things that you see in the tease pics? Either I'm behind on the EQ times or you are smoking crack just like the development team. Flame me if you want, but, frankly, no matter how many times you spam lines about me being gay and all that baseless crap, I wont care, so bring it on. Some poeple...

You're 10....can't be 10 forever Someday soon, if you can get a group often enough, you'll realize that you picked a class whose best feature is the ability to solo light blue animal-type mobs, and the ability to also track those mobs. Learn to love EW. Currently there isn't a reason to being along rangers to high lvl encounters, unless you have no rogues, monks, ect. for damage dealers, or really enjoy the lag caused by melees who crumple when the mob rampages. After SoL at least high lvl rangers will be able to plug mobs with arrows oor of the AoEs and do massive damage until they get summoned and smushed :) At least you don't have to have someone hold your hand to get across DL to FV like warriors do. Take comfort in your utility spells and practice that archery!

# Oct 26 2001 at 1:28 AM Rating: Default
I think that the Vha Shir will be able to be a monk. When you think of a cat you think of a quick, agile animal. I think that there arn't enough classes that can be a monk and the Vha Shir would make a good addition to the class.

# Nov 03 2001 at 3:10 PM Rating: Default
I havn't checked it, but my friend says that it says "VAH" under races in monk only gear. Wheather this is true or not I don't know, but I certainly hope it is. I'm a dog lover rather than a cat person, but from what I've seen, the Vah Shir look pretty cool, and I dont care if theyre on the moon or not (In addition to having no problems with cats whatsoever). I just hope that the way we get there is by some crackpot contraption dreamed up by the Gnomes. And I love monks too, almost as much as rangers like myself.

I think that wizzards can port to luclin and that there will be teleporter gems like the ones in euriden at several of the quadralinths. the difference between them and euridens will be they look much cooler and take you to the moon................................................Of corse there is the chance that everyone desinging the game will get simotaiusly high and the only way to get there will be gnomish steam powered rockets.

# Oct 16 2001 at 10:14 PM Rating: Default
Why do paladins get to summon horses and not magicians, after all that is what the class does? Mages should also be able to sumon horses too, but that is my oppinion
RE: why not mages?
# Nov 14 2001 at 1:04 PM Rating: Decent
The ability of a paladin to summon a warhorse is sort of a throwback to TSR's AD&D where a paladin was able to establish a rapport with a specific beast and that became his mount. Most of the time it was a heavy-duty warhorse (imagine a Belgian workhorse in platemail) but occasionally (GM's discretion) was a fabulous beast. Still, the idea of a mounted Paladin is straight out of mythology- I can't see Prince Charming on foot, he was always in shining plate and mounted on a fine white charger.
As for mages, well, they summon enough stuff. Besides, I haven't heard that they CAN'T summon one...

Mages summon elemental pets, not animals. The paladin spell is going to be called "summon warhorse" or something like that. When you think of paladin you usually think of a horse for him to sit on. When you think of a mage there's no horse.
Perfect release date.
# Oct 09 2001 at 4:06 PM Rating: Default
I just wanted to say that the release date is perfect. I will be leaving for Germany at Christmas to live with family over there (they're in the Army) and everything like this is usually (from what they tell me) about 3-4 months late coming out. This way I can buy it before I go, then go there and show off my game before anyone else can get it! Also, for all you kiddies out there, it's right in time for Christmas! Go tell your mommies and daddies to tell Santa that all you want for Christmas is SoL!
The Horses
# Oct 08 2001 at 11:31 PM Rating: Default
PC GAMER reports that the cheapest horse will be around 9k and a derby horse will be around 15k. So I'm guessing Verant finally got smart and decided to hold community events/gatherings! I ASSUME that there will be horse races and stuff. I also seen a picture of two Kerrans on horses jousting...jousting tournaments perhaps...? Now we will have real jousting not two bored warriors running at each other and hitting Mellee Atack at the last minute! It also said the Paladins just get a horse spell so they dont have to pay oodles of PP. But then again who wnats to be Paladin?

# Nov 08 2001 at 9:27 AM Rating: Default
Forgive me if this is a stupid question or if I missed a post or two that would have answered my question, but I've heard that in the new expansion you will be able to buy horses(at several thousand pp) and Paladins will have a spell to get a horse without paying. Doesn't this mean that as an Sk I should get a similar if not evil and parallelled spell to the Paladin's? I mean we are polar opposites and why should they get this advantage over us? It doesn't seem fair to me. I think that Sk's should be able to summon undead horses, something along the lines of a Hellsteed. Something black and evil that would scare the **** out of any White Knight and his pansy thoroughbred. Anyway, to me it seems unfair that the Paladin gets this undeserved gift and his evil brother is forgotten.

If you wanted a parallel mount for yourself, then Paladins should get a pet...

I would say that that is a d@mn good price. That is, if it lasts forever. Will they be no rent? Can they go on boats? Can they swim? Can you take them into town? Can you make them breed and make a fortune?... Oops. Horses are going to be an awsome addition to Norrath, but they are probably are going to be VERY restricted. What if you die, do they stay at your corpse, run away, or just die with you?
