The Darkened Sea Info & Guides: Overview | Progression & Task List | Raiding | Visible Armor
This solo task is the second in a series of three and begins with a wyvern named Silwat Viltor (click for map image) on Thuliasaur Island.
Pre-Requisites for Requesting:
- Minimum Level 95
- Completed "Aiding the Ailing"
Note: Silwat Viltor only speaks Elder Dragon (90+ skill level required in order to converse with him).
Say "request" to get the task.
You say, 'Hail, Silwat Viltor'
Silwat Viltor says, in Elder Dragon, 'It has been many years since those like you have come to this place, but you are not like the last. You possess the strength to overcome these, lesser, children. Those who came before you did not, though they did not lack the will to try.' The ancient wyvern coughs, obviously amused by the memory of failed Combine raiding parties. He takes a moment to recover then continues, his voice just a bit more strained than before, 'I was... We were sent here, in times before your gods took notice of Norrath. We were the observers, silent guardians of our endangered kin.' The wyvern begins coughing more violently. He winces, the skin around his face splitting and stretching tightly. He recovers long enough to hoarsely whisper, 'I have a [request] of you.''
You say, 'What request?'
Silwat Viltor coughs, 'Sustenance... The gift of conversation drains me.'
You have been assigned the task 'Our Simple Purpose'.
Silwat Viltor now trusts your intentions and is now ready to reveal more about his purpose on the island.
You get the impression that the ancient wyvern has not moved from his post in months, perhaps years. His first request of you is to obtain and deliver a bit of simple substance.

Harvest some Palatable Forest Fungus 0/3 (Thuliasaur Island)
Task Window Says: Around the forest you should be able to find patches of brightly colored fungus growing at the base of large trees. Harvest a bit of food from these growths.
Around the forest are numerous objects called "a fungus patch". /open and loot these until you've obtained 3x "Palatable Forest Fungus".
Deliver the Fungus to Silwat Viltor 0/3 (Thuliasaur Island)
Inspect the dinosaur remains near the waterfall 0/1 (Thuliasaur Island)
Inspect the dinosaur remains in the Thaell Ew temple 0/1 (Thuliasaur Island)
Inspect the dinosaur remains near the raptor den 0/1 (Thuliasaur Island)
Task Window Says: Head north to the base of the waterfall and inspect the bones that rest there. Make your way into the northeastern corner of the Thaell Ew courtyard. Inspect the monument they have constructed from one of our fallen. Just west of the raptors' nest you will find the preserved remains of one of their fallen. Inspect these remains to reveal their significance.
"tyrannosaurus bones" can be found in the pond north of Silwat. /inspect it.
As you stare down at the ancient bleached bones that lay buried here the sound of flapping wings beats louder and louder in your mind. In your mind you see two drakes flying alongside a green wyvern overhead while a fearsome tyrannosaurus roars madly into the sky. You see the island as it once was in times long past.
"aged dinosaur bones" can found in the northeast corner of the Thaell Ew courtyard. /inspect it.
You begin to lose sense of time as you stare into the reptilian remains. Your focus turns to the scarring on the bones, the etchings of spears evokes the image of the great beast these remains once belonged to. A colossus even among dinosaurs, you see its face, you feel the same primal fear the beast felt in the presence of a Thaell Ew hunting party. You are overcome with a sense of anguish before the vision dissipates.
"raptor bones" can be found behind tree that's just west of the raptor nest. /inspect it.
You look down at the raptor remains with a novel sense of empathy. The deadly and capricious nature you associate with the beasts is a distant memory now replaced with a strange protective instinct. You picture the creature that once inhabited these bones like a child to be stewarded toward safety. Your focus returns back to reality as you look upon the blade-marks left on the creature's skull. You wonder why the Thaell Ew would slay the creature just to leave its remains out here with its kin...
Obtain a mural fragment from a Thaell Ew Ritualist 0/1 (Thuliasaur Island)
Task Window Says: Silwat suspects your sympathies will now lie with the dinosaurs rather than the Thaell Ew, at least for the time being. He has requested that you spill the blood of one of the lizardman ritualists and search its body for any clue of historical importance.
Kill "a Thaell Ew ritualist" to receive a "Crumbling Mural Fragment". Note: Each Thaell Ew kill decreases your faction with The Thaell Ew by 20.
a Thaell Ew ritualist has been slain by _____!
a Thaell Ew ritualist's corpse hisses and collapses violently!
As the ritualist falls to the ground you spot a small stone clutched tightly in its left hand. You walk over to its lifeless remains, step on its wrist and break the bones in its hand to liberate the small artifact for your quest.
Deliver the Mural Fragment to Silwat 0/1 (Thuliasaur Island)
Silwat Viltor slowly extends his left hand to yours, the brittle skin of his wing audibly cracking. He clutches onto the old stone and draws it to his face. His glassy eyes narrow as he focuses on the fragment, gleaning greater insight to its historic significance. He releases his hold upon the rock and watches it splash and then sink to the bottom of the pond.
Silwat Viltor turns his attention back to you. Without a word spoken you understand there is a final request he now has of you.
Rewards:
Skeletal Parrot's Scapulae --OR-- 50 platinum
