The Darkened Sea Info & Guides: Overview | Progression & Task List | Raiding | Visible Armor

This solo task is the second in a series of two begins with Orson Ragweed (click for map image) in the Caverns of Endless Song. He is located in the small area above water just south of the underwater zone-in tunnel.

Pre-Requisites for Requesting:
- Completion of "A Friend in Need"

Say "captain" to request the task.

At the end of the previous task, you saw:

Orson Ragweed says 'You found them both and freed them? But where are they? What!? After all that they didn't even come to say thank you? Just like a pir...merchant to not have any loyalty. Ah well, at least I'm free of that awful captain. WHAT?!?! He's still alive and he's got my chronometer? Well that I just can't abide _____. We have to free [Julia] from his entranced clutches.'

You say, 'Who is Julia?'

Orson Ragweed says 'What kind of no good, lilly livered pir...trader takes another man's time piece! It's indecent I tell you _____! And just plain ill mannered. I'm sure he hasn't cleaned the salty air from poor Julia in weeks! I know I already owe you one _____, but if you could see yer way to helping me out once more I'd be eternally grateful. If you can find the [captain] somewhere in these accursed caverns you can get back Julia for me.'

You say, 'The captain?'

Orson Ragweed says 'If I know the captain, and I know him better than most, he'll be wherever the leader of this den keeps her treasure. Captain was never one to shy away from a good pile of gold, or other shiny baubles. He's probably gone and given away our whole cargo to the blasted sea witch. But wait...if he has that means...JULIA! The damnable whore wench of a siren might have her! Oh my poor girl! Go and find her _____, and quickly!'

You have been assigned the task 'Oh Julia'.

Orson Ragweed is distraught over the theft and misuse of his trusted time piece which he calls 'Julia'. Helm him rescue Julia from the depths of the Caverns of Endless Song.

Beat some information out of dear old Captain Janesworth 0/1 (Caverns of Endless Song)

Task Window Says: One of Orson's mates mentioned that Captain Janesworth had Julia last he saw him. Find the captain and beat some information out of him.

Captain Janesworth is found up the spiral ramp due north of the zone-in. He hits for a max ~20,000 (no special abilities).

Captain Janesworth says 'Avast! I see more sparklies to be giving to the mistress! Draw yer weapons and prepare to meet yer maker!'

Captain Janesworth has been slain by _____!
Captain Janesworth's corpse crumples to the ground with a thud. You notice a small golden chain hanging out of his breeches.

Take the broken golden chain from the captain's corpse 0/1 (Caverns of Endless Song)

Captain Janesworth drops 6x "Broken Golden Chain".

Bring the broken golden chain back to Orson Ragweed 0/1 (Caverns of Endless Song)

Orson Ragweed breaks down and weeps when you show him the broken chain. 'Whyyyy Prexus whyyy! Julia's honor has been besmirched by these hooligans! But where could the rest of her be? The captain must have given her to the sirens hoping for a little more of their lewd company. I hope that she devil cooks him on a spit and then chokes on his bones! We have to find whatever's left of Julia, _____. I can't let her body lie in a place like this for all eternity. She must have ended up with the rest of the treasure that was taken from our hold. Search the crates and chests that are certainly hidden somewhere in the tunnels. Save her from this cursed fate _____! Save my beautiful girl!

Search the cargo crates in the tunnel for 'Julia' 0/1 (Caverns of Endless Song)

Task Window Says: Search for Julia in the cargo crates scattered across the caverns.

Cargo crates are found throughout the western cavern. /open these until you receive "Orson's Pocket Watch".

You rummage through the cargo crate for a time. You find nothing of interest but some fish that are beginning to turn.

You rummage through the cargo crate for a time. At the bottom under a pile of straw, wedged between a pair of flounder is a shiny gold pocket watch. You pop it open to inspect the engraving. Sure enough the inside is inscribed with large flowing letters, 'Julia'.

Loot an ancient idol 0/1 (Caverns of Endless Song)

While you're opening cargo crates, you'll also need a "Water Logged Stone Idol".

You rummage through the cargo crate for a time. You don't find a pocketwatch, but there's a strange looking stone idol that looks intriguing. You pocket the idol and go continue on your way.

Bring Julia back to Orson Ragweed 0/1 (Caverns of Endless Song)

Orson Ragweed's eyes light up as you show him the pocket watch. 'Oh Julia! I thought I'd never see you again! I'd come to terms with you having gone to a watery grave, but I couldn't stand the thought of that vile captain or his fishy seductress having their festering mitts all over you. _____, Julia and I are in your debt, and we're eternally grateful. What's that bit of stone you have as well? Oh yes that's part of the Combine tre...trade goods we were carrying when we ran aground. That intense fellow [Horace] was asking me about those things when he showed up here not long ago. He'll definitely be interested in it. Tell you what _____, you can keep the idol for no charge, and we'll call it square for rescuing Julia for me. Deal? Deal!

You say, 'Horace?'

Orson Ragweed says 'Aye, he's pacing back and forth over there. He says he's from one of the communes on a nearby island. Something about it being almost all men, and all they do is fast, train and meditate all day and night. Sounds like someplace that could use a bit of livening up, and I'm just the gnome to do it!'

Take the stone idol to Horace the Resolved 0/1 (Caverns of Endless Song)

Horace the Resolved roams the zone-in area.

You say, 'Hail, Horace the Resolved'

Horace the Resolved says 'Leave me be _____. I am on a holy quest for my brothers into this cursed den of salaciousness and carnality.'

Upon turn-in:

Horace the Resolved says 'Go away _____, I don't have time for senseless prattle. Hold a moment...where did you get that statue? It's one of the ancient Combine artifacts! Exactly what I came here to find. Quickly _____, tell me where you found it so that I may continue my quest to retrieve these holy artifacts.'

Smack around some of Orson's former shipmates 0/10 (Caverns of Endless Song)

Task Window Says: Orson also wouldn't mind if you smacked around a few of his old ship mates while you're at it.

This step is open from the beginning of the task. You'll probably have killed at least 10 mobs by now, but any "a seduced _____" counts towards this step.

Some crates can be looted with out getting agro from local mobs. Pick the crates a bit away from the crowds and you should be able to get the items with out having to clear.
