You say, 'Hail, Firiona Vie' Firiona Vie looks troubled. '_____, you arrived, at last. And [sorrow] sailed with you.' You say, 'Sorrow?' Firiona Vie looks over the water to the horizon. 'I did not think this journey would be so trying. We came to the Buried Sea to heal Tsaph Katta, but now we are the ones who need healing. [Dabner], [Dagda], [Ognit], [Galeth], [Lyirae], and [Thubr] -- they sailed here aboard the Swift Fin, but for now only their [spirits] can accompany us. You say, 'What about Dabner?' Firiona Vie says 'He does not sleep. He barely eats. His only concern is [Dagda]; he tends to her wounds day and night. I fear his craft has suffered from years of disuse since we last journeyed together. I hope ardor makes up for neglect.' You say, 'What about Dagda?' Firiona Vie says 'She talks little and sleeps much. Her leg swells and inflames her fever. That such strength could lie helpless upon a sickbed when I knew her as one of the fiercest warriors in Norrath...' Firiona's brow darkens. 'You were there. Was there nothing more you could have done? I only hope [Dabner]'s healing skills are enough...'' You say, 'What about Ognit?' Firiona Vie says 'He says he has given up magic and that he can never be what Al`Kabor would have wanted him to be. Tinkering shall be his sole pursuit. For [Galeth], this is a boon. Right now Ognit works to repair Galeth's damaged body with what few materials we have on hand. It will not be simple.' You say, 'What about Galeth?' Firiona Vie says 'My father... it is strange to see him in that metallic frame. I can no longer read the expressions of care or tenderness in his face. It is almost as though his body now matches his spririt... He has been long away from the physical world, and to him both the past and present lie in a dim fog that has yet to burn away in the daylight. [Ognit] works to repair my father's damaged body, but I wonder if he can repair my father's connection to this world...' You say, 'What about Lyirae?' Firiona Vie says 'Her heart is caring but careworn. The peace she seeks cannot be found on this journey, I suspect... At times she sits with [Dagda] or [Galeth], silently watching over them. Other times she sits alone on the stern, looking off into the sea. Sometimes I think she would rather be where I found her, wandering the forests of Faydark.' You say, 'What about Thubr?' Firiona Vie says 'He almost talks less than Dagda. I've been told he slept through the voyage. He wakes to eat and drink but soon retreats to his bunk. Though he has held onto his wits more tightly than when we landed on Brother Island, he remains sullen. He speaks of a promise made to the Priestess of Degmar, but he won't say what that promise was.' You say, 'What about their spirits?' Firiona Vie says 'My companions hurt in body and spirit. As you know, they have not fared well on this journey.' Firiona looks at the ground. 'I should have been there for them, leading them. Alone I left them to suffer, like I did before... But what choice did I have then? And what [choice] do I have now?' You say, 'What choice?' Firiona Vie says 'We were not ready for this journey, and my companions are not yet ready to continue it. Already we have failed each other and the people of the Buried Sea. And now Lanys is set to destroy what little work we have done here along with anything else she can touch with the Lifeguide's power! And what of our capricious [friends], Al`Kabor and Dreezil?' Firiona shakes her head. 'If it were not for the words of Tunare, I would say coming to the Buried Sea was a [mistake].' You say, 'What about those friends?' Firiona Vie says 'This is the location Al`Kabor specified in his cipher. I arrived days ago and have been scouting these strange [formations] and looking for [Station 10].' You say, 'What strange formations?' Firiona Vie says 'Whole sections of the seabed rise to the surface, pulled by what I can only surmise is concentrated geomantic magic. Soldiers dressed like the ones that attacked Katta Castrum patrol the walkways. Perhaps they also seek [Station 10]...' You say, 'Station 10?' Firiona Vie says 'Domes dot the islands, most having been raised from the sea. They must be ancient Combine structures. Perhaps one of these is Station 10. [Dreezil] thought as much when I last spoke with him, but that was days ago.' You say, 'Why was it a mistake to come here?' Firiona Vie says 'I saw my gravestone. Under moonlight I walked to the grove. The autumn leaves had fallen. I brushed away the stone. In the center my likeness stood, arm raised, Lifeguide in hand, sending rays of light arching over the stele. Beneath the rays my companions were arrayed, looking to me with unchangeable faces, wondering where my [light] had gone.' You say, 'What light?' Firiona Vie says 'The moon was clouded. The dust was thick. The leaves were thicker. The grove was abandoned. Not a soul had stood before my grave since I had vanished from the world. I touched the cold [stone].' You say, 'What stone?' Firiona Vie says 'My finger found an indentation, a hole where once a jewel might have been placed: the light, the gem of the Lifeguide, was a dark pit. Perhaps the light lay beneath the leaves, beneath the press of [time]. The moon crept lower. The grove darkened.' You say, 'Time?' Firiona Vie says 'We grew old. You have seen my companions: their autumn heads are now dappled with snow. By now I am sure the grove is deep in drifts. That woman, with her staff and stalwart friends, lies buried and forgotten -- a relic of ages past. I never expected the [spring] to come.' You say, 'The spring?' Firiona Vie says 'Yet we must bloom at Tunare's behest.' Firiona sighs. 'I only hope the spring is true and this is not our winter. We must walk on, like the snow joins the river and then the sea.'' You say, 'Where is Dreezil?' Firiona Vie says 'He seemed [distracted] when we spoke, and he wouldn't look me in the eye. That night I slept on the dock. He kept watch. When I awoke he was gone, and I have not seen him since.' You say, 'Distracted?' Firiona Vie says 'Really?' Firiona narrows her eyes as you tell her what occurred between Dreezil and the Brothers. 'No wonder...' Firiona ponders for a moment. 'Things would have gone much differently had he stayed put and kept his hands in his own pockets. We need to [find] him. He might know more about what is happening here and where Al`Kabor might be.' You say, 'I'll find him...' Firiona Vie says 'He spoke of a landlocked ship to the east. Supposedly Lanys sailed it to the Buried Sea. I would start your search there. Take the first path east, across the submerged patch of seabed.' You have been assigned the task 'A Fickle Wind Blows'. Firiona has been exploring the Dredge, where she has determined where Al'Kabor's coordinates lead. She is still trying to determine where Station 10 is, and Dreezil might be able to help. Unfortunately, the halfling ran off, and you will need to search for him. Head along the eastern path toward Dreezil's last known location 0/1 (Combine Dredge) Speak with the bridge minders 0/3 (Combine Dredge) This update triggers the spawn of two auto-aggro mobs. a bridge watcher says 'Another recruit to our ranks? Does hatred flow through your veins? Raise the bridge, and we shall find the halfling together, as Holmein commands!' a bridge minder says 'I don't take orders from fanatics. Calix told us we're here to mine for resources, not look for halflings. I'm not going to countermand his orders and risk his daughter's wrath! Besides, this creature doesn't look half as insane as you do.' a bridge minder says 'Guards!' a bridge watcher says 'Yes... Guards, kill it!' Kill the bridge guards 0/2 (Combine Dredge) These two mobs each hit for a max ~14,500. They are immune to stuns, but mezzable. a bridge guard has been slain by _____! a bridge guard's corpse says 'You can't stop us all!' Cross the walkway gap using the geomancy orb, and investigate the ship to the north 0/1 (Combine Dredge) As you board the ship, you hear a voice call out to you from behind the tiller. 'You don't look like one of Lanys' followers or a Combine soldier. Come, come, we must talk! Please?' Speak with Captain Mewes 0/6 (Combine Dredge) The Captain stands on the ship's deck. Captain Mewes's pupils retreat from his eyelids. He breathes deeply and rapidly. 'You sailed from Odus? Are you with the halfling? Are you after Lanys? Quiet! Not too loudly... We can't let her know... Captain Mewes glances around. 'Too long to [explain] when eyes and ears are upon you! She took our ship when we were about to set sail. I'm just a merchant! She killed my mercenaries! And now the things she makes me do!' Captain Mewes' hand trembles. You say, 'Explain yourself' Captain Mewes looks around to be sure the two of you aren't being observed. `Yes. Lanys, that... that...' Captain Mewes mumbles something so no-one can hear. 'Lanys and her Doomscale cronies captured my ship and killed all my guards and much of my crew. Then, once we got here, she made me do [horrible] things! You say, 'What horrible things?' Captain Mewes says 'I'm just the captain of a merchant ship. Sure, I like to dress like a pirate, but I'm not! And she... She [makes] me torture cultists who don't give the proper prayer and obedience. She even makes me execute her prisoners!' You say, 'She 'makes' you?' Captain Mewes says 'Okay, okay, I'm not brave. I'm a coward. But if I don't do what she asks me to, she will to do it to me, instead. I just want to go home!' Captain Mewes says 'And the journey... A ship full of hateful things burning and piercing their flesh. The stench! We anchored here, and the land closed about us. The Combine swarmed, and Lanys obliterated them. She made a pact with their leader, and now we wait. But if only waiting were all that Lanys would ask of me...' Captain Mewes adjusts his cap nervously. 'Lanys must be stopped... I can't take much more of this.' Captain Mewes's hands won't stay still, and his eyes dart about. 'The halfling, Dreezil? He was here, yes... is here? He came days ago, asked where he was. Offered gold to store his belongings. I told him what Lanys might do; I told him...' Captain Mewes says 'He gave me the gold and promised more. He promised help! Are you that help?' Captain Mewes shakes his head. 'I gave him a hidden compartment under the prow. Told him it was safe... maybe he's still there? Maybe he's still safe?'' Speak with Dreezil on the ship 0/9 (Combine Dredge) Dreezil is found on the east side of the ship, just below the main deck. You say, 'Hail, Dreezil Stickens' Dreezil Stickens darts his hand to his dagger. He stops short, laughs, and shows his teeth; but his eyes don't smile. 'Oh, hello, and you are? _____? So Mewes continues to be his old mewling self? Dreezil Stickens says 'After the gold I paid him... A stern look or a prick of pain, and that crying babe would sic a soldier on his own mother!' Dreezil waves his hand.' Lanys can have him!' Dreezil Stickens smiles and taps his dagger hilt. 'Oh, yes, the gold. So you've been hearing stories? And you trust that lot of thieving, woman-fearing 'brothers?'' Dreezil Stickens says 'I'll tell you how it went: I was out for a stroll in the evening, and I took a turn by Dagda's tent. You know they had her stuck out there, under guard, just for being a woman?' Dreezil laughs. 'Well, one of those guards who probably never saw a woman up close just had to get closer.' Dreezil Stickens says 'He actually got to touch her -- at least his face got to touch her fist! The brute went stomping off, but I didn't think he'd had enough. I followed him and gave him a double thrashing for the sake of all women! And to compensate me for the lesson I had taught him, he so generously gave me his coin purse.' Dreezil smiles and mimics the flick of his dagger. 'Just a little bit of gold.' Dreezil Stickens says 'Well, the embarrassed bugger bawled to Quigley. Now Old Man Masculinity wants my head. What is he going to do, come clean and admit his modest and merry man got caught trying to steal some sweets and had to pay the price? No, he makes up a story about a thieving halfling raiding his coffers!' Dreezil Stickens says 'I couldn't let my companions take the blame, so I took myself elsewhere, to this 'fine' place. No need to bother Firiona with such things. She has plenty more important things to deal with out here.' Dreezil Stickens says 'I didn't sign up for a campaign against Lanys T`Vyl and an army! Don't mistake me, it's no problem; I can handle it. I just thought it would be a nice little island jaunt with maybe a bit of pirate booty here and there. Now Al`Kabor is hiding out here, chased by a crazed cult and mad geomancers? The trouble Firiona gets herself into!' Dreezil Stickens says 'Well, Firiona knows me: always ready to help!' Dreezil flips a coin and catches it. 'If she wants domes, I'll give her domes. You take the northwestern-most domes, and I'll take the ones slightly north of those. I think between the both of us we can keep Miss Firiona happy.' Find the first collection of broken domes, in the northwest of the Dredge 0/1 (Combine Dredge) Kill the Combine and Doomscale near the northeastern domes to find clues about Station 10 0/7 (Combine Dredge) As you kill mobs in the first update area, you'll see emotes: You take a section of stone with writing on it from the corpse. You see the number '4'. You take a section of stone with writing on it from the corpse. You see the number '3'. You take a section of stone with writing on it from the corpse. You see the number '2'. Station 10 is not listed. Look for Dreezil at the broken domes north of the Dredge, northeast of the previous domes 0/1 (Combine Dredge) Dreezil waves. 'You find that Station 10 yet? I checked a few here. No luck. Go ahead; have a look.' Station 10 is not listed. Speak with Dreezil at the northern domes 0/1 (Combine Dredge) You say, 'Hail, Dreezil Stickens' Dreezil Stickens smiles, unhurt and unphased by the activity of the Doomscale and Combine. 'See what I've been dealing with here? Dreezil doesn't run away from danger; he runs into it! Firiona will be glad I sailed here by the time this is said and done. Did you know I've known her the longest out of all her companions? Yes, Dreezil's always there, doing the dirty business that must be done! Come on; I'm going to check the large dome to the southeast. Find the dome in the center of the Dredge 0/1 (Combine Dredge) You hear Dreezil whisper as loudly as he dares. 'Hey, over here! Behind the arch, in the bush!' Speak with Dreezil near the large central dome 0/2 (Combine Dredge) He'll be hidden in some flora, so look carefully in the area. Dreezil Stickens says 'Look at all of them gathered like they're waiting for theater doors to open. Must be a popular show, and Al`Kabor quite the star! He always did like the attention.' Dreezil Stickens says 'Let's be sure, though. We can't have you showing up to the wrong play, can we? There must be markings like the other domes. Why don't you take a look? Discreetly, of course... And while you're at it, have a listen to the pre-show gossip.' Defeat the demolishers attacking the large dome, and examine the clues they are carrying 0/4 (Combine Dredge) Mobs called "a demolisher" can be found along the outside of the center dome's wall. The general zone population in this area is mezzable, but the demolishers are not. These mobs hit for a max ~15,000. Note: There are some Shroud of Stealth spawns in this area ("a Doomscale assassin" - can't see these without SeeInvis2, and they, themselves, see invisibility). You take a section of stone from the corpse's hands. It is blank. You take a section of stone from the corpse's hands. It is blank. You take a section of stone from the corpse's hands. It is blank. You pick up the last piece of stone and see symbols on it. They read 'Station 10.' Listen to the Combine and Doomscale near the large central dome 0/4 (Combine Dredge) Move back out towards the entrance/ramp area leading up to the dome, where you'll then see: You hear a shout of rage bellowing from the front of the dome. Holmein the Hated places his sword in his palm and begins dragging the sharp edge across his skin. 'By my blood, I swear!' Holmein flicks his wound at the nearest Doomscale recruit, spraying blood on his face. 'This door will open, or the multitude of rents and fissures I open in your flesh will turn the sea red!' Holmein shouts, 'Dorell, I'll start with you, liar! Your worthless geomancy can't open a simple door!' Dorell's voice tries to maintain control, but he can't look at Holmein's disfigured body. 'It will happen... Just need more time and more magic. Something inside the station is keeping us out, sustaining the door with magic. We'll need to increase the power output of the crystals...' Holmein shouts, 'Look at my flesh! This is my mistress's mercy, her instruction... You will have no mercy.' Holmein licks the blood off his palm. Speak with Dreezil near the large central dome 0/2 (Combine Dredge) Dreezil Stickens grins after an involuntary shudder passes through him at the name of Holmein. 'That one's a piece of work... literally. Lanys' plaything, her flesh mannequin. The man in charge of the Dredge Doomscale. Used to be in the Qeynos guard, or so I hear. Never was too stable. Joined with the Doomscale when he thought the world was going to end.' Dreezil Stickens produces a dagger and holds it out to you. As it lies in his palm, you can see half-healed marks on his wrist where the skin was cut. 'Maybe he's angry it didn't end. Maybe he's mad Lanys put a few more holes in his flesh last night. Well, maybe you can take this dagger, find a spot for another hole, and solve his existential dilemma.' Stab Holmein the Hated with the dagger Dreezil gave you 0/1 (Combine Dredge) You'll be ported away to the southeastern part of the zone. As you lunge at Holmein with the dagger, he turns, raises his hand, and lets the blade stab through his wounded palm. He licks the blood off the dagger's tip. 'So the halfling sends you with hate in hand. You don't know the meaning of hate. Do you know where the staff is? Where Firiona is? How to enter the station? You will tell us, but we will never be done with you. You will know the meaning of hate.' Holmein twists his wrist and snaps the blade of the dagger. With the flat of his sword he knocks the side of your head. Speak with Amlis the Torturer 0/1 (Combine Dredge) You say, 'Hail, Amlis the Torturer' Amlis the Torturer holds the meat hook near your skin. '[Talk] to me. Give me meat to chew on. I'm hungry.' Your torturer taps the tip of the hook on your arm. 'And I know the sharks and nagas are also hungry. [Talk].'
