Requesting the Expedition: High Priest Diru Riwirn (Progression)
If this is your first time doing this Sewers zone, you can request this expedition as part of Gates of Discord Progression by speaking with High Priest Diru Riwirn (click for map image). Doing this will result in a flag at the end of the expedition.
You say, 'Hail, High Priest Diru Riwirn'
High Priest Diru tells you, 'I know that you can do this for us. I have seen your action in this city and have heard of them on the rest of the continent. Please set the spirits of the fallen at ease. Seek out a way to into the crematory, find the remains of Ngozi, Mabiki, Talokoi, and Yogundi. Take the remains into the furnace and their spirits will present themselves. All will become clear when the time has come.'
The direction to the entry to your instanced zone(s) have been marked on your compass.
Sewers of Nihilia, The Crematory is now available to you.
Requesting the Expedition: Gamesh (Non-Progression)
If you've already done progression or are otherwise not concerned about it, speak with Gamesh (click for map image) at /loc -385, -710, -120:
You say, 'Hail, Gamesh'
Gamesh says 'I don't know why you would want to, but if you want me to tell you the way to one of the different areas of the sewers let me know. I know how to get to the treatment [plant], [crematory], [pools] of sludge, or the [lair] of trapped ones.'
You say, 'I'd like to go to the crematory'
Gamesh leans in closely to whisper, 'Okay, listen closely...'
The direction to the entry to your instanced zone(s) have been marked on your compass.
Sewers of Nihilia, The Crematory is now available to you.
As you make your way through the zone, you'll see emotes (believed to just be flavor):
You enter a room with a large pool of filthy water. A malodorous cloud overcomes you, causing you to retch. Years of rot have soured this place.
As you venture farther into the sewers, the foul fumes in the air become even more intense. You struggle for each and every breath you take.
A large pool of sludge spans the room. You hesitate to enter the murky water, but realize it is the only way to reach your goal. It looks like the water that once came through here was filtered.
The room ahead is in a terrible state of disrepair. Large chunks of the ceiling have collapsed, revealing a room above. Some great force shook this part of the sewers apart. You enter the room cautiously hoping that no more pieces of stone come crashing down on you.
Small pools swallow the sludge pouring from the stone pipes above. The creatures of the sewers appear to thrive in the grimy water and scramble for morsels to feed on.
Named Mobs
Named mobs that have a chance to spawn here:
Cryxtetl
Diseased Larva
Slime Devourer
It's reported a named has a chance to spawn after every 20 mob kills. Note that the map above only reflects known spawn areas of these nameds. It's possible that they have other spawn locations.
Expedition
General mob population here tend to hit for a max ~600 and get progressively more difficult as you make your way through the zone (upwards of ~950).
Here, you need to kill mobs in the zone until you've looted four items (dropped randomly off zone mobs - it's possible these drops are localized to unique parts of the zone, but this is not confirmed):
- Mabiki's Remains
- Ngozi's Remains
- Talakoi's Remains
- Yogundi's Remains
With these four items, head to the furnace room (southwestern-most part of the zone):
A thick wave of heat chokes you as you enter a room that holds a device that looks like an incinerator. The room is disturbingly void of creatures. A whisper of a voice seems to echo off the walls, making your skin crawl. It hauntingly cries, "Ceremony..."
NOTE: You may need two players present in the room in order to trigger the spawn. You may also need to kill the "Sewage Slime" that spawns in the room to the east of the furnace (spawns two additional mobs upon death). The exact spawn mechanism is not confirmed. Upon their spawn, you see:
The spirits of those long past arise from the fiery furnace, sensing that their remains are nearby. A ghostly voice yells out, 'Let it be known that until the Ceremony of Kiruatuk is complete, we will haunt these halls, destroying all those who dare to enter.'
Talakoi moans in anger as it rushes towards you!
Mabiki moans in anger as it rushes towards you!
Ngozi moans in anger as it rushes towards you!
Yogundi moans in anger as it rushes towards you!
They each hit for a max ~900 and are stunnable and mezzable. Upon the death of one of these named ghosts, "a ghostly essence" spawns and begins making its way toward the crystal room in the southeastern part of the zone. Just leave it be.
_____'s corpse's spirit dissipates in a din of chaotic magic. Dark clouds encircle you, engulfing you in a smothering embrace. You are momentarily blinded. After you come to your senses, you see that a ghostly essence has formed and is moving towards a room to the east.
Once you've killed the fourth named ghost, you'll want to make your way to the southeastern room (the crystal room). Only the player who has the four skulls actually needs to do the turn-in. Once the fourth ghostly essence makes it to the crystal room, Gizta the Pure appears there. Note that this also begins a 30-minute timer.
Upon entering the blue crystal room (southeastern room), you see:
An alluring, glowing crystal floats on its point. The spirits in the room seem to be drawn to it. The stone itself seems to whisper with thousands of souls.
You say, 'Hail, Gzifa the Pure One'
Gzifa the Pure One says 'You have destroyed the abominations that my brethren have become. The invaders struck before the Ceremony of Kiruatuk could be completed. Because of that their destiny was to wander these halls in undeath for forever more. Faced with the prospect of living life as an abomination of their former selves, they were driven mad. Now that you have separated their pure essence from their twisted, corrupted form, we can begin the Ceremony of Kiruatuk. Hand me the remains of Ngozi, Mabiki, Yogundi, and Talakoi and I shall begin the ceremony.'
Turn in the four skulls to complete the expedition. Upon turning in the four skulls, you see:
Gzifa the Pure One begins to chant in an unknown tongue. The essences of the ghosts you destroyed merge with the crystal in the center of the room. As they do so, a flash of magic erupts, briefly illuminating the crystal. 'It is complete. Our time here is done. We thank you for your good deed. We bid you farewell.'
If doing the progression version of this expedition, you also see:
You have gained a character flag! Freedom for the souls that were trapped should earn the respect of High Priest Diru.
Note: If you allow the 30-minute timer to expire before completing the turn-ins, you'll see this:
Gizta the Pure shouts, 'You failed to start the ceremony in time, now you will feel the wrath of my brethern!'
This makes the four ghost essenses KOS, and they will attack you when you get near the turn-in room (they hit for a max ~900). It is not confirmed whether you can still do the turn-in for the completion after such a failure. |
