This raid expedition begins with Greph in the Foundation. He is a burynai located due north of the zone-in, near the sporali farm and outside the burynai caves (same spot as Darott who offers the group mission).

Pre-requisites for requesting this raid:
- The Search for Saunk (and its pre-requisites)
- Completion of Brell's Rest, Cooling Chamber, and Pellucid Grotto raids

Pre-requisite for participating in this raid:
- Must have looted and used the Coin of Brell from one of the prior tier's raids

You say, 'Hail, Greph'

Greph says 'Bad things... Very bad things... Adherent Burynai no problem. Other Burynai causing problems with Genati. We look same, but other mean Burynai are real [threat].'

You say, 'How are they a threat?'

Greph says 'We try to stop them, but they too strong. If Genari are harmed, entire world could crumble. Adherent Burynai smart enough to know this bad thing. We try, and we fail. Maybe you [face] them, and stop bad things. Yes?'

You say, 'We will face them...'

Greph says 'We will remember. You will fight and win! If you fail, it no matter if we remember, since we all be dead. Greph can tunnel in close when you [ready] to go!'

You are assigned the raid expedition, Masked Invaders.

You say, 'Ready!'

Greph says 'Stay close. Tunnel small and dark, but Greph think you be ok.'

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered The Foundation.

Summary

Kill a number of respawning burynais until two non-combative sporali spawn in the center of the event area.

Kill the two sporali and get back to killing burynais.

After a certain amount of kills and/or time has passed, a greken appears and the burynais despawn. Kill the greken. Burynais begin respawning.

Continue killing burynais until the Burynai Destroyer spawns. All adds despawn at this point. Kill the Destroyer for the win.

The Burynais

On zoning in, you find yourself in a tunnel leading to the westernmost area in the Foundation. Outside the tunnel are 8-9 burynais. They are agro, but don't see invis. They are unmezzable, unsnareable, and don't summon. They hit for a max ~9,000 and have various abilities.

Burynai warriors flurry (no rampage or enrage). They can cast the spell "Headcrusher", but it's not known under what circumstances (it's not one of their regular abilities):

Headcrusher: Single Target, Unresistable (0)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 75000
2: Feign Death

Burynai shamans have no known special abilities.

There is one burynai brutale. The longer this mob is alive, the more strength it gains with no known upper limit (reported hitting for in the millions or even billions).

There is one burynai sapper. This mob has an AE mez:

Willsap: PB AE 30', Unresistable (0)
1: Mesmerize (1/90)

There is one burynai excavator. This mob has an AE DoT and push:

Sinkhole: PB AE 30', Unresistable (0)
1: Slow Push (-30)
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 8000 to 15000 (random) per tick

As you kill these mobs, they respawn. It doesn't matter what type you kill as long as you kill a certain number.

Note: You'll never have any more than one brutale, one excavator, and one sapper up at a time.

The Sporali

After a certain amount of burynai kills (may vary), two non-combative sporali spawn in the center of the event area (they're quite large; you won't miss them).

NOTE: There are two types of sporali: "a sporali whitecap" and "a sporali gloomspawn". The whitecap casts an AE heal that hits the raid. You don't have to kill the whitecap sporali (and it'll heal your raid for the rest of the event). Do you have to kill the gloomspawn, or can you leave that alive as well?

The Greken

After the sporalis are dead, and after a certain amount of further burynai kills, a large greken appears and frightens the burynais back into the ground (they all despawn):

a burynai sapper shouts 'SNAKE!'
a burynai shaman shouts 'SNAKE!'
a burynai brutale shouts 'SNAKE!'
a burynai warrior shouts 'SNAKE!'
a burynai warrior shouts 'SNAKE!'
a burynai shaman shouts 'SNAKE!'
a burynai excavator shouts 'SNAKE!'
a burynai warrior shouts 'SNAKE!'

You will either get "a greken adult" or "a greken youngling" (which one you get appears random). There are two AEs associated with them. The adult casts both AEs. The youngling only casts "Serpent's Flame":

Burning Rage: PB AE 30', Magic (-650)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 1500 to 2500 (random) per tick

Serpent's Flame: Directional 50', Unresistable (-600)
1: Decrease HP when cast by 15000 to 25000 (random)
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 5000 to 10000 (random) per tick

They hit for a max ~18,500 and don't have any special melee abilities (no flurry, rampage, or enrage). Unlike the other mobs in the event, it summons once it's been damaged.

They spawn with a small damage shield on them that goes away after it reaches 95% health:

Inner Flame: Self 0', Fire (0)
2: Increase Damage Shield by 350
3: Increase corruption counter by 9

You'll see this emote when it fades:

The flames completely fade from the greken's molten skin

Fire-based nukes and weapon procs heal the greken for 4-5%. Don't use any fire-based attacks. (This does not include +FIRE DMG stat on weapons.)

In addition to the above, the greken will spawn several blazing oozes (4-5 at a time in time-based? intervals). These each hit for a max ~7,000 and have an aura around their melee range:

Oozing Flame: Single Target, Unresistable (-950)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 3500 to 5000 (random)

This will cause between 3500 and 5000 damage per second as long as you're in their melee range. They can be kited and despawn after 30-45 seconds.

a greken adult has been slain by _____!

As the massive molten snake dies, the Burynai start to poke their heads out of the ground yet again.

As soon as the greken dies, the same burynais you've been dealing with begin respawning one-by-one.

The Burynai Destroyer

After the greken is dead, and after a certain amount of further burynai kills, all adds despawn in place of a single named, "Burynai Destroyer". It immediately agroes.

It hits for a max ~20,000 (has high DPS compared to other mobs in the event) and has no special melee abilities (no rampage, flurry, or enrage).

It casts three spells:

Hypnotic Eye: Single Target, Magic (0)
1: Charm up to level 90

Piercing Scream: PB AE 200', Magic (-700)
1: Stun (2.00 sec/90)
2: Amnesia (Silence vs Melee Effect)
3: Silence

Sinkhole: PB AE 30', Unresistable (0)
1: Slow Push (-30)
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 8000 to 15000 (random) per tick

Once it's dead, a chest called The Winter Harvest spawns with loot.

Failure & Reset

In the event of a wipeout and after losing all agro, the burynais will continue to run around the event area until you eventually see this emote:

The rebellious Burynai have breached the inner areas of the Foundation and are destroying the Genari within. You have failed!

...At which point the event resets.

Double Gloomspawns

Not sure what caused the event to do this, but when the sporali spawned we didn't have a Whitecap, it was Gloomspawn x2.

They then proceeded to DoT the raid with Pox Vendela, 1300pt DoT, uncureable. https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/spell.html?spell=21708

They would refresh the DoT over and over until we killed them.

Not sure if the event judges how well you're doing, and then adjusts which sporali you get?

Seemed to have the same result tonight. Twice the event reset when we had charmed mobs. When we stopped charming, no reset.

These hits were all against different people, but the damage certainly seems to increase dramatically over time, and presumably with no cap.

The strategy as listed works however is has one major flaw. Do not kill or damage the mushrooms and your life will be much easier. Unless of course you really dont like the idea of large AE heals being cast on your raid (and not the bad guys) on a routine basis.
