This solo task is the second of four in a task arc from Schelly Starflight in Kernagir, the Shining City. She is located at approximately 405, 60, -50 (first floor, northern building).

Pre-requisite for requesting this task: Is it Contagious?

You say, 'Hail, Schelly Starflight'

Schelly Starflight says 'Greetings again Ogre. I am greatly disturbed by the words on this note. Although your previous questioning did not reveal anything pertinent, I would guess the problems with the workers are related to this note. I want you to continue investigating the cause of the odd worker behavior by finding where this [note] came from.'

You say, 'What note?'

You have been assigned the task 'Where Did It Come From?'.

Schelly Starflight hands you the Worn Note. 'I want you to take this to Chamberlain Scrimble. You can find him in the Arbiter's Chamber above us. Tell him I want a full analysis of the note to determine its origins. He will know how best to pursue this. Given your performance thus far, the council feels you can be trusted with this task. We look forward to the results.'

  • 1. Take the Worn Note to Chamberlain Scrimble 0/1 (Kernagir)


  • 2. Listen to Scrimble's instructions on how he wants the note analyzed 0/1 (Kernagir)

    Chamberlain Scrimble may be found at 382, 181, 56. Give him the Worn Note:

    Chamberlain Scrimble says, 'So, the council wants a full analysis of this to determine its origins? Hmm...I think it will be best if we conduct two separate analyses. I know just the gnomes, Wimzig Manasieve will conduct a magical analysis, and Lindwiss Solvolysis will conduct a chemical analysis. Unfortunately this will require some {alterations} to the original note.

    You say 'alterations"

    Chamberlain Scrimble rips a piece from the left side of the note and another from the right. 'That should do it, Here are two pieces from the note. Take the left peiece to Wimzig. You can find him on the top floor of the armory, just northwest of the central tower. Take the right piece to Lindwiss. You can find her in the basement of the Forge, just north of the central tower/ Once you have the final analyses, you should bring them back to Shelly. Good luck!'

    You receive Right Part of a Worn Note and Left Part of a Worn Note.


  • 3. Bring the left part of the note to Wimzig Manasieve for magical analysis 0/1 (Kernagir)

    Wimzig Manasieve may be found at 1189, 902, 346, on the top floor of the first building to the west of true north. Give Wimzig the Left Part of a Worn Note.

    Wimzig Manasieve listens as you explain what Scrimble requested. 'A magical analysis to determine the origin of the note? That shouldn't be a problem. I'll get to work right away.'


  • 4. Destroy the magical creatures spawned by the curse on the note 0/3 (Kernagir)

    Three mezzable an evil eye spawn at Wimzig.

    Wimzig Manasieve says 'Oh my!'

    They spawn right at him and do not aggro anything else in the room. If you die, they will repop when you approach Wimzig again.


  • 5. Speak to Wimzig and get the results of the magical analysis 0/1 (Kernagir)

    You receive Magical Analysis Report.


  • 6. Bring the right part of the note to Lindwiss Solvolysis for chemical analysys 0/1 (Kernagir)

    Lindwiss Solvolysis may be found at 972, 564, 136, at the bottom of building on true north (east of Wizmig's building).


  • 7. Pick up the reagent box Lindwiss stored in the freezer 0/1 (Kernagir)

    This is Box of Reagents -- a groundspawn at 167, 1004, 143, at the bottom of the building to the west of true south.

    Two dwarf assassins spawn upon picking up the groundspawn. Before doing this, it's recommended you kill the roaming mob that comes out of the room where you pick up the groundspawn. She is the only one that will aggro and you can fight right in the hall.

    If you fail, pick up the groundspawn again to make them spawn.


  • 8. Kill the assassins 0/2 (Kernagir, the Shining City)

    2x an assassin spawn in the hall outside the door.


  • 9. Give the box of reagents to Lindwiss 0/1 (Kernagir)

    Lindwiss Solvolysis says 'You were attacked? How dreadful! Let me get this analysis finished before anything else bad happens.'


  • 10. Speak to Lindwiss and get her results of the chemical analysis 0/1 (Kernagir)

    You say, 'Hail, Lindwiss Solvolysis'

    Receive Chemical Analysis Report.


  • 11. Take the magical analysis report to Schelly 0/1 (Kernagir)

    Schelly Starflight says 'Thank you for this report. I we eagerly await the second as Scrimble has advised me to expect two reports.'


  • 12. Take the chemical analysis report to Schelly 0/1 (Kernagir)

    Schelly Starflight says 'Thank you for this second report. Now that we have both, the council will go over the data and decide on the next course of action. Please return shortly and I should have another assignment for you.'

    You were able to get the worn note analyzed despite encountering some obstacles along the way.

    Sharing a tip from Discord - levitate may help if you're having trouble with step 7.

    Only one pair will spawn, so multiple people can pick up the box then go out into the hallway and kill the assassins with everyone getting credit.

    I was doing this quest molo (solo with merc) as a 90 monk, thought I'd check out the territory before setting off the dwarf assassins. I saw the roamer that was mentioned, marked her and followed her into the room with the box, not planning to actually pick it up yet. Next thing I knew I was jumped by everything in the room and couldn't FD in time!

    It seems there's a named "A Guard" that can pop in that very same room. Beware!

    * Listen to Scrimble's instructions on how he wants the note analyzed 0/1 (you get Right Part of a Worn Note and a Left Part of a Worn note)

    * Bring the left part of the note to Wimzig Manasieve for magical analysis 0/1

    * Destroy the magical creatures spawned by the curse on the note 0/3 (three mezzable "an evil eye" spawn at Wimzig... dark blue con at 85)

    * Speak to Wimzig and get the results of the magical analysis 0/1 (you get Magical Analysis Report)

    * Bring the right part of the note to Lindwiss Solvolysis for chemical analysys 0/1 (yes -- it is spelled that way in the task line)

    For the dwarf assassins, you need to kill the roaming mob that comes out of the room where you pick up the groundspawn. She is the only one that will aggro and you can fight right in the hall. Kill her before you spawn the dwarves. If you fail, go pick up the groundspawn and they will repop.

    The three evil eyes spawn right at him and do not aggro anything else in the room. If you die, they will repop when you move near him.

    Should add that they take a while to spawn.
    More than enough time to get out of the room.

    A monk can easily AE mez them and single them out.

    Their max hit should be somewhere around 3k (hits for less most of the time though) and they have about 275k hp.
