This shared task (1-6 players) is the second in a series of three. It begins with Berrina Saltidnarik at location -650, 200, 37 in Brell's Rest.

This task has a one hour timer.

You say, 'Hail, Berrina Saltidnarik'

Berrina Saltidnarik says 'Hello there, _____. You look like you're a [visitor] to this realm.'

You say, 'Yep, I'm a visitor'

Berrina Saltidnarik says 'Not all of us are here by choice. Some who dwell in this realm are bound to it due to our devotion to Brell. That is the position that I find myself in, for example. Still, one does what one [can], no?'

You say, 'They do what they can'

Berrina Saltidnarik says 'Even in the realm of a god, there is always work that can be done. I pride myself on being a problem solver, personally. I try to find and fix [problems] whenever someone comes to me with one.'

You say, 'Problems?'

Berrina Saltidnarik says 'Well, the kobolds have been a bit restless recently. I suppose we all have, but when they get restless, they tend to start fights. While battle is one of our great pleasures here, their aggression is starting to be a real problem in our day-to-day life. Would you be [willing] to contact their leader and try to find out what's going on?'

You say, 'I'd be willing'

Berrina Saltidnarik says 'Their leader is named Graztuk, and he's normally found near their camp to the east. Hopefully you can talk some sense into him.'

You have been assigned the task 'Clash of the Kobolds'.
The direction to someone related to your current Task has been marked on your compass.

Berrina is concerned about the unrest amongst the kobold clans to the west. Even the excitement of Brell's Arena is no longer enough to contain their thirst for conflict. They are leaving their camps and goading others into joining their fights, and that does not appear to be part of Brell's plan for his realm.

Find out what is troubling the kobolds. Seek their leader, Graztuk, and parley with him.

1. Speak with Graztuk 0/1 (Brell's Rest)

Graztuk is located just outside Brell's Arena (eastern part of Brell's Rest). Location: -215, -580, 17.

You say, 'Hail, Graztuk'

Graztuk says 'Rrrrrrrr... _____, you aren't here to [fight], are you?'

Your task 'Clash of the Kobolds' has been updated.

You say, 'I'm here to fight!'

Graztuk says 'Fighting is great. It lets us work out anger and energy. We love to fight, and especially with the gnolls! They're not around [much] any more.'

You say, 'Much more?'

Graztuk says 'Some of them will fight, but not as many as there were before. We don't know why. We try to [start] fights with others, but they never want to fight.'

You say, 'Start fights...?'

Graztuk says 'The Burynai don't like to fight us! They never counterattack. Some of the gnomes and dwarfs will fight, but I don't know how to tell if they will fight or not. If only there were a way to find some [volunteers] for my best fighters to spar with, we could stop bothering others.''

You say, 'I have some volunteers'

Graztuk says 'You volunteer? This is great! I'll have Recloso meet you on the battlefield to the north of us, near the lava.'

Speak with Recloso 0/1 (Brell's Rest)

Task Window Says: The kobolds have agreed to reign in their patrols, but only if you are willing to provide them with their entertainment! Meet Recloso near the lava lake.

Head a little ways northwest, by the edge of the lava. Approximate location -70, -275, -8. You'll see four totems and a kobold named Recloso.

You say, 'Hail, Recloso'

Recloso says 'Were you [sent] by Graztuk?'

Your task 'Clash of the Kobolds' has been updated.

2. Kill 5 raging kobolds 0/5 (Brell's Rest)

You say, 'Graztuk sent me'

Recloso says 'Good. I have some kobolds here who are aching for a good fight. Let me know when you are ready to join the [battle], or if you want me to explain the [rules].'

You say, 'Tell me the rules'

Recloso says 'The rules are simple. Stay in the ring and fight. If you leave the ring, you lose. If you all die, you lose. If you wait too long to fight, you lose. Stay in the ring and defeat all of your opponents to win.'

You say, 'Ready for battle'

Recloso says 'Round 1 begins. Fight well!'

Five raging kobolds spawn. They each hit for a max ~5,000, so you'll have your hands full. Some are mezzable.

a raging kobold champion says 'A fight! A fight!'
a raging kobold champion says 'A fight! A fight!'

Stay within the totems while fighting, otherwise you'll see this:

You have left the bounds of the ring. Return quickly or be disqualified.
Recloso says '_____ has left the bounds of the ring and must return quickly.'

...And the task will fail.

Upon killing the last of the five kobolds:

Recloso says 'Round 1 complete! Let me know when you are [ready] to continue, or if you want the [rules] explained again.'

3. Kill 5 raging kobolds 0/5 (Brell's Rest)

Saying "Ready" spawns the second wave.

Recloso says 'Round 2 begins. Fight well!'

Upon completion:

Recloso says 'Impressive. Round 2 is complete. Inform me when you are [ready] to continue.'

4. Kill 5 raging kobolds 0/5 (Brell's Rest)

Saying "Ready" spawns the third wave.

Recloso says 'Round 3 begins. Fight well!'

Upon completion:

Recloso says 'Round 3 is complete. Let me know when you are [ready] for the final battle.'

You say, 'Ready'

Recloso says 'Round 4 begins. Fight well!'

Recloso says 'You're a match for my kin, but how about me?'

5. Kill 2 raging kobolds 0/2 (Brell's Rest)
5. Kill Recloso 0/1 (Brell's Rest)

Two raging kobolds as well as Recloso attack. Recloso isn't much more difficult than the rest of the waves, but he AE rampages.

Recloso has been slain by _____!
Recloso's corpse says 'Finally, a worthy opponent...'

Your task 'Clash of the Kobolds' has been updated.

Speak with Graztuk 0/1 (Brell's Rest)

You say, 'Hail, Graztuk'

Graztuk says 'It seems you have more fight than even we could handle. I'm sure my brethren will desire a rematch at some point in the future.'

Your task 'Clash of the Kobolds' has been updated.

The kobolds appear to be more bloodthirsty because their normal sparring partners, the gnolls, are not as interested in fighting. Perhaps the ultimate answer lies with them.

I didn't finish this in era, so I just went back and found I couldn't request it since I didn't have enough people in my group, just me and my merc.

In era it's not bad as long as you get them locked down early. Without mez you need a pretty beefy tank to handle it.

3 boxing slightly under-geared Zerker, Bard, Shaman with tank/healer/melee dps merc, it's not terrible, but a little stressful.

The spawns are staggered which gives you a moment to start to single target mez with bard before all 5 are up. They spawn towards the southern end of the 'arena', so you can position yourself accordingly.

With AoE mez on bard this wouldn't be bad, but given this is the second task of the expansion, it shouldn't be assumed you have it. Much easier with enchanter, of course.

Mobs have about 450k HP each
Recloso has about 900k, but otherwise doesn't seem any harder
Max Hit was 8,250 on tank merc
Average hit was about 1,300 on tank merc.
More easy

The minimum required for this task was 3 when I tried to get it, not 1 as it says above.
where'd the task go
# Mar 06 2011 at 3:43 PM Rating: Decent
We were doing this task also. We were finishing the second wave when another group ran up. We medded said ready and recloso and his boys
just vanished. I'm not certain if the other group hailed him but it seems there should be a lockout or this made an instance. We had 40 mins
left to complete the task. We requested the task again and noticed the timer running down while the other group was still fighting round 2.
As we didn't want to do unto others as was just done to us, we dropped task. Anyone else have this happen? Soe needs to make this an instance or not let other groups request til done if so. Can't say we would have know this if we were the other group so I am not faulting them for not knowing either. Anyone know anything about this?

You MUST, MUST have someone who can AoE mez for this quest. With AoE mez from a chanter, the quest is definitely doable and sooooo much easier.
challenge

For only being the #2 task in a series of 4 from Tier 6 Brell's Rest, it is quite the challenge. I would not want it to be easy, but wow SOE really wants you to step up right out of the gate from the lowest tier zone.

TRY 1: You must be sure noone steps outside a tight box to fight in for which the corners are totems. The 5 mobs were dark blue and white con's to lvl 85, and do not seem to hit too hard. You must have some type of crowd control. You must have some good DPS. You must be sure to keep the mobs inside the box also while you fight, since they seem to push easily towards the boundry and then will CH. You must kill all 5 in the wave within a certain time limit. We got a red message warning of 1 minute to go with our last mob. We failed with last one at 3%.

I guess SOE is giving no breaks on UF progression. Check out the next task after this one. #3 task from Brell's the easiest zone, Gnoll with the Punches, have to kill 23+ mobs plus a named. LOL. I hope your group runs well together.

TRY 2: We tried again, finished 1st wave of 5 in time. Sat to med, started round 2, but task failed saying we made the fighters wait too long, before the 2nd wave even popped/started. LOL.

Well, SOE has this task out of wack if they think the average group can finish this task unless the timer is removed for med time between rounds. Our group has finshed all previous expansion progression, but unless I figure out some trick, then we are dead in the water on task#2 of 33 tasks for tier 8 entrance. I guess I will hunt for someone that can request the last task "Don't fear the Destroyer" and finish the series without doing the pre-task which is too bad, since I always enjoy doing them, but this one is a tad out of whack ref. difficulty level IMO. GL to others that try.

Since it is not an instance, I wander if another group can assist with the task in killing the waves? Anyone try this? Of course only 6 will get credit, but just might work.

Update: Found someone to request "Don't Fear the Destroyer" task for our group. We were able to finish this final Brell's progression task without a problem. This leads me to restate that pre-task #2 and #3 are out of wack ref. difficulty. If a group can finish the final task, one would think the tasks leading up to it should be doable.

They don't heal
# Feb 06 2010 at 4:07 PM Rating: Decent
Mobs don't heal, but WILL be completely healed if you push them out of the ring (you will see them warp a short distance if this happens). Also, make a trigger (Your first name) has left.....this will tell you when you are out of bounds.

Too Challenging

Problems with this task:
Time limit, even with 2 of us tanking and the Cleric even nuking cannot get the mob HP down fast enough.
Complete Heals, mobs are getting CHs even when the healers are being kept mezzed. This is compounded by the mobs warping when they get healed.

Our group: SK, Ranger, Cleric, Chanter, Druid, Shaman all either fully Culturally or SoD geared, all level 85.

We have tried killing Shaman first, event timed out due to Shammys being able to CH themselves right at about 10-12%.
Tried killing fighters first, Shammys were able to CH them while under constant mezzing, and they warped, at about 10-12%.

At this point we have attempted the task 11 times and cannot get past the first wave.
To say we suck would be too convinient of an explanation....

Wasnt that hard to do. All mobs seemed to spawn on the south side of the "box". Had mezzer on north side. Didn't have any unmezzable.

It seems as if there is a time limit to kill the waves perhaps. We were on wave two, had just killed the 4th mob when the task failed with the message "You have left Recloso's fighters for too long. They will no longer wait for you". Had the 5th mob mezzed. Tried again and finished wave 2. We had just finished medding when we got the same message. Didn't try to time it.

"Waiting too Long" Also Means Not Finishing Wave Fast Enough

We just failed upon killing the last (5th) mob of the 2nd wave. As soon as it was dead, first said Recloso said his fighters were restless then immediately said they were leaving and we'd failed. This happened at 42 minutes more to go in the event. Theoretically, that shouldn't happen without a bug since the remaining time is plenty, but there you go.

More than likely you violated one of Recloso's rules....

"Recloso says 'The rules are simple. Stay in the ring and fight. If you leave the ring, you lose. If you all die, you lose. If you wait too long to fight, you lose. Stay in the ring and defeat all of your opponents to win.'"

One of them is for "waiting too long" to fight.
