This task begins with Researcher Stripcog in Fortress Mechanotus at location 195, -1520, 400 (in the third tent at the zone-in, behind Pyrotechnician Flizcog).

You say, 'Hail, Researcher Stripcog'

Researcher Stripcog says 'Oh hello. You must want work. Yes of course you do. Always need something to do. So you are [doing] this then? Good good. Well what are you standing around for go do it!'

You say, 'I'm doing it'

Researcher Stripcog says 'Did I forget to [tell] you what to do?'

You say, 'You didn't tell me...'

Researcher Stripcog says 'Oh dear. Sorry. I have unearthed a device that will allow a being to teleport to the top of each of the gyrospires. This device will not work in its current state because there used to be three gyrospires, and with only two, the calibration is very incorrect. It is so incorrect that I will have to replace many of the gyroscopes that the device uses to target the proper spot on the gyrospires. Therefore, I need you to [find] the gyroscopes.'

You say, 'Where can I find them?'

Researcher Stripcog says 'Did I leave out information again? Well this time I actually do not know. It is a needle in a haystack. It is so much of one that I used a seer. However, you know seers; they are so imprecise. If you wish to [take] this task I will happily write the information she gave me into your book.'

You have been assigned the task 'Gyrospire Relocation Research'.

Researcher Stripcog says 'Oh goody! I have wanted this thing to work. I will not give you the device until you show me you have all of the gyroscopes. Bring them to me and then I will give you the device. Be sure you have space for a container when you bring them back. Additionally after your calibration I will need to make some final calibration steps.'

Researcher Stripcog says 'Yes, those look like the correct gyroscopes. Here is the broken device. Be sure to bring it back once you have tuned it. I will have one more step to complete to make it function.'

Receive a Broken Gyrospire Relocation Device, a 10-slot container.


Place the gyrospires in the Broken Gyrospire Relocation Device and seal it 0/1 (ALL)

This produces a Gyrospire Relocation Device.



Part 2: Using the Device

Activate the Gyrospire Relocation Device on the training mat 0/1 (Gyrospire Beza)

Activate the Gyrospire Relocation Device near the standing valve in the infirmary 0/1 (Gyrospire Beza)

Activate the Gyrospire Relocation Device in the corner between the ramp and control room 0/1 (Gyrospire Beza)

Get INTO the control room and stand against the left wall (as you enter), which will put you close to the ramp, but not on it.

Activate the Gyrospire Relocation Device in the secret room near steamwork storage 0/1 (Gyrospire Zeka)

Activate the Gyrospire Relocation Device on the dias with three pipes 0/1 (Gyrospire Zeka)

Activate the Gyrospire Relocation Device under the breech of the Zeka Launcher 0/1 (Gyrospire Zeka)

Give Researcher Stripcog the tuned Gyrospire Relocation Device 0/1 (Fortress Mechanotus)

Give the Gyrospire Relocation Device to Researcher Stripcog.

Researcher Stripcog says 'Yes. This is great. This will work out just great. I justneedtoadjustthisandpressthatandshiftthatand yes, there it goes. That should work. Thank you very much. This will be very useful in our efforts. You can keep this device as with your efforts I now know how to duplicate this. When you use the item, if you are facing north you will go to gyrospire zeka, but if you are facing south you will go to gyrospire beza. If you are at the gyrospire, and not at the landing point, you will go to the landing point, and if you are at the landing point you will go to the other gyrospire. Neat huh?!?'

She returns the item which you can now use to transport to the roofs of Beza or Zeka (to the same locations as the last updates in each gyrospire).

When looking for the Steamsuit's to kill for the last one I never did find "conveyor room and behind the doors there" but I did get the Gyrospire Beza Gyroscope 058'142'064' in the Fusion Reactor room from one of many Steamsuits around the perimeter of the room which is not far from the nearest entrance to the Steam Factory from the Fortress Mechanotus zone in from Dragonscale Hills. Good Luck - fun Quest imho!

The circled area is where you can find steamsuits. It seemed that I got lucky and did not snag any see invis mobs or there aren't any. Ran invis to the circled location and the steamsuits are tucked against the wall on the lower floor area. In case the link ever breaks, its the rectangular room dead smack in the center of the map.

Well, they may be pre-lootable now, but at least two of them are not. The two which are looted from mob kills. Which happens to be the two that I had :(

Confirmed as of 2/8/2023 the ground spawns are pre-lootable. The two items that are dropped from mobs (a brownie and a steamsuit) are NOT pre-lootable.

I was unable to trigger the update on the ramp up to the control room. I had to get INTO the control room and stand against the left wall (as you enter), which put me close to the ramp, but not on it.

The secret room in Zeka is found by clicking this small silver-grey door located exactly at -231, -63, 352 by the /loc command. Remember that the map coordinates don't read the same as the results of /loc, unfortunately.

Tried to get this quest on two different toons today (9/3/2013) and got to the second hail of "tell". Nothing I could say would let me get past that. Was not invisible, camped and rebooted etc.

Today, 19 Jan 2014, I was able to pick up the quest properly. All of the groundspawns appeared where they were listed. The brownie drop came in one kill. The steamer drop took 5 kills. It took a while to clear through the spires to click the attunement steps, but they all worked. I finished the quest in a few hours. All working.

I can confirm this -- Unrest spawn wasn't appearing in the revamped zone, and I logged in this morning to see Unrest back to normal and got one up and one respawning after the normal delay.

Thank you for contacting the EverQuest in-game support department in regards to the Gyrospire Relocation Research task. After some investigation, I was able to verify that players are successfully completing the task and that there are not any current issues with the task or item spawns. I can see that the Gyrospires were looted from both mentioned zones very recently and look to be spawning properly. I can only recommend that you keep a lookout of the items in your next attempts at collecting them, as they do look to be spawning properly. I am sorry for any frustration this may have caused you, and wish you good luck out there!

I can't seem to find the ground spawn in Unrest - all the loc noted (from several sources) put it in the same area - a dead end kinda near the Rogue 1.5 ground spawn (dead end near the south-east "corner" (well, you know what I mean)).

I haven't spoken to anyone who has successfully done it since the revamp. I've been on and off for about 24 hours now and haven't seen it.

Anyone had any problems picking up the dead fish piece in Kedge?

I've done the rest but can't pick up the fish. It's there in front of me but I can't get it. Dropped all buffs, not invis or leved - even tried suspending pet but nothing goes.

I've logged out and revisited the zone twice and I'm stumped.

Just picked up the fish around twenty minutes ago, so it appears to be working. Dead fish is just a couple steps to the right upon zoning into Kedge.

I am currently at the point where you calibrate the device and seem to be running into a zone bug. There's been twice now that while fighting a mob I get a large number of adds from somewhere in the distance. Both times have happened in the winding ramps. First tome was ok because it was only about 7 but the other had to be about 15 because my T5 lvl 89 healer dropped like a sack of potatoes shortly followed by me before I could hit FD. Anyone else had this?
