Ghil won't give out any of the quests (except he'll say the 1st line, reject all other inquiries) until you are at least Indifferent to Circle of Unseen Hands.
Actually even thogh you can start getting the quest at indifferent, Den won't take the package until mid-amiable.
You guys decide what to put on the quest page. Tested this with a new rogue that starts out amiable. Did nothing - tried handin to Den - rejected. Did about 70 pts of faction work, still amiable, worked.

I did this quest expecting my Coalition of Tradefolk to improve (I had no intention of doing the quest further than just bringing the package to Den) Instead, I was hit as follows when I handed in the package:

Since Luclin and the ability to substitute other types of hides that are a little easier to obtain for the popular HQ wolf/cat/bear ones in tailoring recipes, the prices of these have dropped a lot. Why should anyone pay 30-50PP for a HQ bear skin when there are cheaper alternatives that work just as well? This makes quests involving those a little easier to do since you no longer lose as much money when you do them.
If you were me and I were you, would we still be friends?

Keep the Low Quality and Medium Quality Cat Pelts. You can trade 3 LQ for 1 MQ, and 3 MQ for 1 HQ,
by handing them to Dar Forager Lumun in Mountains of Rathe. I made a Pally Froggy leveled him to lvl 5 Origen him to Rathe Mountains.
grabbed all my low Q and medium Q out my shared bank and handed them to Dar Forager Lumun than put all high Q in shared bank for my main to use.

This shows increases AND decreases with three factions: Circle of Unseen Hands, Guards of Qeynos, and Merchants of Qeynos.

Take a closer look at the write-up up there. There are three points in the quest where you get faction hits. Guards and Merchants get increased and Circle gets decreased from the first and second parts of the quest. The third part increases Circle and decreases Guards and Merchants. So both are correct.

I understand losing money on pelts but isnt this a good way to raise faction with merchants and guards of Qeynos by just doing the first part and destroying the note (or giving it to someone if no-drop)?

I have to humbly disagree with the person who was complaining about rudeness. If you are posting an answer or response to someone, then you are, in essence, representing yourself as one who has knowledge on the subject of which you speak. If you choose to comment on a subject on which you are not very well-informed, then, I say, you open yourself up for ridicule when you give such misinformation. This is not to say that you do not have the right to speak on a subject on which you may not be quite so well-informed. It is only to say that it is not "rude" for someone to correct you (especially if that person is right) and to do so in a somewhat satisfying, perhaps ostentatious, manner.

There is no reason for people to get rude. This is just a game where there are people with various levels of understanding. I am still some what new to the game but have already found out that items can be used for many things at the same time. Let's all try to help people out by clearing the air on disinformation and not being rude to each other.
The gloves are only +2 Dex.

Seems kinda useless to give up a HQ bear skin (which can sell for 40 or more pp) just to get a pair of gloves like that. You can buy a pair of snakeskin gloves for maybe 15pp and they have better stats.

on Xegony server for some reason tailors will pay an average of 50 plat for HQ Bears - they make a 10 slot backpack that they in turn sell for 100-125 plat - i don't understand it i just sellem the pelts

A tailor with skill of 80 or more (trivial at 88) can combine one hq bear skin and a backpack pattern (cost of 6sp) in a sewing kit, and make a tailored backpack. It is 10 slot, weighs 3 stone, and is 10% weight reducing. They sell with EASE for 100-125pp in EC and pretty much any busy zone. Thats why they sell for 40pp. Thats the average price on Rodcet Nife. Just sit around with a stack or 2 of patterns, auction for the skins, then make backpacks to order. Real fast source of cash.

You are dead wrong of course. In EQ the HQ bear skin/pelts are interchangable, and both work for the backpack making. I HAVE used them to make backpacks being a tailor. You are also wrong on the bags... LQ wolf pelt makes small tailored bags, LQ cat skin makes large pouches, LQ bear skin makes large bags and ruined wolf pelt makes wrist pouches. For the potion bag its a grizzly bear skin. Note that the use of pelt/skin is irrelevant. As long as it says a quality and a type it can be used. Hope this clears up the post from the last clueless person.
P.S. HQ bear skin do only sell 1pp to vendors if that. It is to players that it is worth 25-30 pp for making bags. Most I will pay is 30. The Bags sell for between 50-100pp if that.

True that skin/pelt is interchangable, but you made a few mistakes also. Bear always drop skins, cats always drop pelts (except for lion skins), wolves drop skins. However, they all work with recipes for armor that call for the other.
And to the guy below, he's talking about the quest for these gloves, which is really dumb, because you could sell the HQ bear for enough to buy much better gloves (2 skins would buy Wu's gaunts, for a monk).
