No, you did not get that. The smith on the island gives ringmail and splinted bronze pieces. Nothing more. You may have bought a DRT from him, but he definitely did not give you one for free just for turning in a knight card.

I got it from turning in scrap metal from the Cleaner VII in North Kaladim. I turned it into Beno Targnarle. I think you might have the Knight and Knight Card quests switched.

I just tried doing this quest on one of the new progression servers with my half elf bard. I needed faction song to get amiable faction with Beno to make him accept my scrap metal drop from Cleaner VII, however instead of giving me Knight Card he gave me Knight. When I arrived at Sister's Island I used faction song to reach amiable faction with Doran, but he would not accept the card.
EDIT: Nevermind, I found it I didn't actually have amiable faction with Doran because I had to use faction song on the guy next to him due to the recent faction song bug where all quest NPCs are immune, and that NPC wasn't actually on the same faction. Once I reached amiable faction with Doran (through Crushbone killing) the quest worked fine.

Moorodo in north qeynos DOES still give out the knight card. i spent about 50gp trying to get the jester card and ended up with 2 knight cards before i was done.

You only have to buy one card from Moodoro...if you get the wrong one you can just turn it back to Moodoro and he will give you another card... repeat until you get the one you want.
When I did the ToV quest last year, that was not the case. When I helped my roomate do it last week, it still was not the case. If you try to give the card back, he says something to the effect "I have no use for this, you take it back"
Also, there is no information like that on the ToV quest posts. There are however, reports of people spendinf 200-300 plat trying to get the correct card.

This quest isn't so good. I play Dwarves, and have done this quest more than 20 times. The pirates on Sister Isle will kill you if you are a Cleric or Pally of Brell. If you're a Rogue or agnostic, they leave you alone.

My rewards have been: 1 Dwarven Ringmail Tunic (retail value 20pp, in Gfaymart), 1 Black Iron Bracer (retail value less than 10pp to players), and 18 small shields, bronze daggers, ringmail neckguards, etc. All low end no value stuff, worth maybe 1-2pp.
To do the quest, you have to kill the placeholde rats. These spawn once every 8 minutes in the mines of Kaladum. The cleaner is a roughly 1/10 spawn, so you can plan on spending an hour to get him.
The card is lore, so you can only have one on you when you make the trip. Also, you CANNOT turn this in and make it back to the same boat, so you will sit on Sister Isle for 15 minutes waiting on the next one.

Who knows how long waiting on the Boat in BB

And you most likely get something that sells to a merchant of less than 2pp.

If anyone else has this dream, go to Runnyeye and kill goblins. The farther down into the zone you go, the better your chances. Bottom floor has best drops.
NOTE:This is decent newbie armor, but better is available these days. The above post was over a year old when I wrote this.
Black Armor still has nice look to it though. My Pally Frog has some on. Then I got him prismatic dye for the other slots.

Actually it takes the Jester card. Mindoro in Qeynos requires 4gp and gives you a random card which may be the Knight Card (I got one) but mostly were King, Queen, and Beggar cards. When you get the Jester, turn it back to him for page 34 of the Testament of Vanear.
Update 22 Feb 02: Finally turned the Knight Card I got into the Dwarf Smith (kindly faction) on Sister Isle in OOT and got some unmemorable item.

Well according to most people the spawn takes a bit but the funny thing is when I step out of the bank and "wow" what do I find but the metal rat staring at me. He has done that about 4 times now and I'm getting sick and tired of getting nothing but cloth to leather armor that is either to big or to small.

I've only done this quest once and plan on getting a pack full of cards before returning to that accursed island(long story). Anyway, even to be able to do this quest I had to work on my faction with stormguard, so I only con amiable to what's his face on the island. When I gave him the card he said "a can't give you anything of my good..." and proceded to give me a freaking rusty two hander!!!!! I was wondering what he conned to peeps that got nice stuff to see if I need to faction more.

I did this quest, thinking I'd get some decent armor or perhaps a weapon. What do I get? A small buckler, of all things. Bronze Main Gauche? Blackened armor? Hardly. I gave him a /rude and walked away.

Blackened/Bronze armor???? At lvl 4???? It all sounds so good, is it to good to be true???? If not, then why is the rating for this quest 3.87 right now????? Oh yeah, what are the stats on the purity belts and how much should i pay for one? Good add-on to the guy that said to buy the belts and nuts, killin three birds with one stone, nice.

purity belts are like +3 str and +2 sta, you can buy them at merchants in freeport for around a plat, so dont bother buying them from other PCs
