You have been assigned the task 'Elite's Insignia'. Insignia of Ashengate's Elite drops from various mobs in Ashengate, Direwind Cliffs, Sunderock Springs, and Vergalid Mines. Upon handing one in: Your faction standing with Crusade of the Scale has been adjusted by 20. Your faction standing with Forces of Dyn'leth has been adjusted by -20. Your faction standing with Circle of the Crystalwing has been adjusted by 20. Armorer Arkin says 'Worthy trophies for a worthy warrior! Keep it up and I'll be able to offer you equipment soon enough.' Your task 'Elite's Insignia' has been updated. Arkin says, 'Worthy trophies for a worthy warrior! Travel to the Battlelines is a related quest, somewhat. once you get the Crusade of the Scale faction to ally, you can use the Drake Handler nearby to port around in Sunderock and port to two locations in Direwind Cliffs.
I didn't even hail him, just handed them in.

Without hailing & getting the task you only get the 2nd set of faction hits for 20.

The Insignia of Ashengate's Elite can be pre-looted, I picked up a stack while factioning in Direwind and just kept hailing Armorer Arkin getting the task and handing them in, over and over.
At lvl 85 with 90% xp to AA I was getting just over 1% AA xp each but was only doing it for the faction hits.

When you get to Ally with Crusade of the Scale faction, you can port directly from the Crusade outpost in Sunderock Springs to three locations in Direwind Cliffs: Green Legion, Gray Legion, or Black Legion encampments. See Travel to the Battlelines for details.

Don't forget to get the task / quest before you do the hand in - if you want the experience. Handed a couple of these in today and got faction hits but no experience rewarded. Then I realized I never had the task. :)
Some tasks update elements that you achieved before getting the task. Try getting the task now and seeing if you get your exp reward - can't hurt to try!

I Handed in enough and fought enough to max all positive factions and max my negative factions and stil get same line from him. still not offering equipment after 58 turn ins .. His faction is still indifferent though, HE must not be on same faction as what he gives for turn ins.

Each turn in is worth almost 2 yellow of AA exp at 75.
The purpose of this quest is to increase faction. Tenish in Crescent Reach gives the 70+ armor quests. (They use the An Ancient... molds.)

I'm guessing this is much like the OOW armor quest where you must first raise your faction high enough before the NPC (In this case, Arkin) gives you the armor quest. Just a thought. If that IS the case, I hope it's some damn good armor. Factioning for the OOW armor quests sucked!

I've handed in about 23 of the insignia's Its time for arkin to cough up some armor /nod
For experience, I turned in a total of 6, i made 1% then 2% then 1% then 2% etc.
That is at level 72 with 100% towards leveling.
