This is an integral part of the Dreadspire Keep Access Quest.

Treddlehoop may be found at -790, +305.

You say, 'Hail, Treddlehoop'

Treddlehoop says 'Hello there! I see you are in fine shape for someone bound to their flesh. Not that I'm an expert on such things. My area of expertise is finding much needed parts for repairing gnomeworks and our gear. It's a tough job and I hardly have time to speak, but that's never stopped me!' Treddlehoop makes a squeaking and grinding noise that you can only assume is laughter. 'I crack myself up, sometimes literally. Hey, I don't suppose you have time to do a little, um, [shopping] for me, do you? I could certainly use help keeping up with supplies around here. I don't know that I can offer much to a flesh being other than some advice in return for you help, so you'll have to do this out of the kindness of your soft, fleshy heart.'

You say, 'What shopping?'

Treddlehoop says 'Well, that's very kind of you! I never run out of things that I need. Here's the list of items. I've noted where these things have been found in the past, so you should probably start looking there. Thank you for your help, ______.'

Loot 1 Shiliskin Tentacle Cluster from a Shiliskin (0/1) - Ruins of Illsalin
Loot 1 Drachnid Silk Gland from a Drachnid (0/1) - The Hive
Loot 2 Chopping Sword from a deep Orc (0/2) - Stoneroot Falls
Deliver 1 Shiliskin Tentacle Cluster to Treddlehoop (0/1) - Corathus Creep
Deliver 1 Drachnid Silk Gland to Treddlehoop (0/1) - Corathus Creep
Deliver 2 Chopping Sword to Treddlehoop (0/2) - Corathus Creep

* A silk gland from the yellow /con spiders out on the living bridges in The Hive and inside the cocoons. There is a safe camp on the living bridges, just go all the way up (without going into the hives themselves). Pull spiders till you get your drop.

* Kill "Deep Orcs" in Stoneroot Falls until you loot two Chopping Swords. These are a random drop off blue-con Deep Orcs in the northwestern section of Stoneroot.

* In the Ruins of Illsalin, you will want to pull the Shiliskin located near the "throne" area. This is the southern most building in the zone. You need to levitate across or scale the wall to enter. The item you are looking for is a Shiliskin Tentacle Cluster.

Once you have the four items, return to Treddlehoop and turn them in as per the task manager.

Well, thank you very much! These will be handy. Here, take this. It's one of my specialty products. I only give them to my friends. I make these for folks because I worry that they can't see things clearly. Why, when I became a gnomework I found that my lenses were far superior to my old eyes. With a good monocle someone like you will have some idea how much better your sight can be! In fact, maybe you'd be interested in helping me with my experiments to create a better version of my monocle? Of course, you would need to find better parts than I have available here and there would be no guarantee that it would work. If it does, though, you may have the product. Are you [interested]? If you're not interested now, just come back and we can work on this later, but bring that monocle I gave you, I might not be able to remember who you are, most fleshlings look the same to me these days.

You have been given: Treddlehoop's Signature Monocle

No Drop??
# Oct 25 2006 at 9:36 AM Rating: Decent
This might be a stupid question, but are any of these items that need to be turned in No Drop or Quest specific? Was just wondering if it was posible to get all the items and then get the mission, and then just turn around and turn the items in.
No Drop??
# Oct 26 2006 at 4:29 PM Rating: Decent
No, you can't do that. The reason for it, is that the first three steps of the mission are "Loot item x". The items aren't no drop, however, so if the looter has to leave, make him give somebody the stuff first.

killed Orcs with graphic of shield + sword. One had a Chopping Blade in addition to the other 1hs with same graphic. Killed one Orc with only* a sword graphic (ie: no shield). He also had a Chopping Blade. So, if hunting, plow any blue con "a Deep Orc" with a sword graphic and you have a chance at the Chopping Blade drop. Shield in graphic is negligible.

If you overlay a clockface on the western portion of the zone, we fought blue-to-70 orcs on the island at about 4:30. Both our chopping axes dropped from dual-wielding orcs. Once we got to the area, we only had to kill 5 or 6 orcs, 30 minutes at most.

Yesterday I had a full group attempt this mission. My
brother decided to bring his 70 BST along outside of
the group to use as a guide and extra dps. The group
decided to kill the Deep Orcs in Stoneroot Falls first
while allowing him time to catch up to us. Out of
roughly 10 kills, we looted one Chopping Sword;
however, it was interesting to note that when my
brother agro'ed a mob and killed it on his own (to
speed things up) it instantly dropped another sword.
Long story short, we let him get agro on the yellow
con spider on the living bridges then jumped in to
kill it quick...the first one we killed dropped the
silk gland! After some running to get to the area
just outside the temple, we ran in a hallway, let my
brother get agro and dropped an Illsalin war
mage...guess what - Shiliskin Tentacle Cluster! The
whole mission took about 1.5 hours with the hardest
part getting everyone to the same spot since lev
walking was tricky at times.

Bottom line - bring a well-geared tank class outside
of the group to get agro and take a couple hits then
let your group finish the mob off to get this mission
done quickly.

Anyone have a comment on this please?

It seems like pure coincidence to me. I don't know how having someone not in the group aggro the mob would make it drop the pieces you need.

I could be wrong..

Was purely coincedance i'm 100% sure. Has nothing to do with the loot tables that any given spawn of a mob has, nor will it CHANGE because somebody outside of your group agro'd or DIDN'T agro it first... silly.

NW Area Blue Con Orcs
# May 18 2006 at 5:41 AM Rating: Decent
Confirmed. I don't know why I have to waste 6 hours of my life to figure something out when a site I pay a subscription for is touted to know. Anyhow, the blue con orcs in the NW region who have sword/shield combos drop the chopping swords.

Do NOT camp the white con or Deep Orcs on the other side of the zone. You will wind up severely disappointed, as I was after wasting 6 hours trying to finish this stupid quest.
Chopping Sword info
# Nov 29 2005 at 4:41 AM Rating: Good
Chopping Sword does not drop of any Deep Orc in zone from my experience. We killed a lot of Deep Orcs wielding Mining Picks near Stoneroot Falls ZI and never had a Sword to drop.

Then we moved to the North West area of Stoneroot Falls where yu can also find white con Orcs Legionnaires. There you will find a camp of Deep Orcs wielding either a sword + a shield or only wielding one sword : these are the ones dropping Chopping Sword.

Got 2 Chopping swords off the Deep Orcs on the highest ledge in about 10 mins of fighting. They were even nice enough to leave us a big clear area on their ledge to camp from.

Wow you got really really lucky. I've done the mission 2x now and has taken about 30 mins to an hour to get the swords.

A group of us started this, and we never got the chopping swords. Don't know if there is a specific area to go to, but we killed a ton. Only thing we got were 3 of the new substitute 69 Spell runes.

Turn in 4 items and receive the monocle reward as well as the text:

Well, thank you very much! These will be handy. Here, take this. It's one of my specialty products. I only give them to my friends. I make these for folks because I worry that they can't see things clearly. Why, when I became a gnomework I found that my lenses were far superior to my old eyes. If you're not interested now, just come back and we can work on this later, but bring that monocle I gave you, I might not be able to remember who you are, most fleshlings look the same to me these days.

You say, 'interested'

Treddlehoop says 'Ah, yes. Well, a monocle is made of three simple parts. I'll need a [rim], a [chain] and a [lens]. Of course putting these pieces together and grinding a proper lens aren't as simple as I make it sound.'

You say, 'rim'

Treddlehoop says 'I need some material to make a nice sturdy lens rim. I've heard rumors that back in the day the Shiliskin made fine jewelry that was completely resistant to the effects of water and general erosion. And, well, they wear jewelry on their face-tentacle-things for formal occasions. I have been thinking that a ring like that would be a great monocle rim, with some adjustments of course. If you can find such a piece of jewelry it would be a good start. If you find a likely item come and tell me what you've found. I'll be able to tell if you've got something that will work.'

You say, 'chain'

Treddlehoop says 'The chain is more than just decoration for a monocle. It must be sturdy to prevent losing the eyepiece as well as decorative. Many also forget to provide enough chain to allow for taller wearers or those with a desire to drape their chain. In any case, for this experiment I think we'll want something special. I know that my own people, the fleshy ones especially, are very good at making such chain. I suppose you might find something worthy from them, though convincing them to part with it might be difficult. Luckily, we've seen plenty of Gnomes run through here since we were discovered. I fact, Mazil is caring for one right now. Come and tell me what you find and I'll let you know if I can use it.'

You say, 'lens'

Treddlehoop says 'Obviously the lens is the most important part of the monocle. See if you can find something special. Obviously it must be made from a substance that is clear and has the properties of glass. But I also want something that will magnify things. It would be even better if it had other properties I could put to use. I wish I could tell you more. Just come by and give me the name of what you've found that might work and I'll be able to tell you what I think about it.'

The rim is a reward from Deserting the Ranks mission from Zahn in Undershore.

The chain is a reward from a mission given by Mazil Hibbinap in the same camp.

The lens is a reward from the first mission in the 69 spell arc.

Hand all 3 pieces in as well as the monocle he gave you originally.

Treddlehoop takes the items and examines them. 'These will do nicely, very nicely.' He pulls out several odd-looking tools and begins to pry at the ring. Eventually he snips it in half with a very large and dangerous tool. He works on the chain until he gets it into a shape he seems to approve of then takes out a rough looking stone and a very fine file and starts hammering and filing on the prism. It is surprising that he doesn't break it. Instead he trims and files it into a circular shape and slides in into the ring. He bends the ring until it fits snugly around the lens, then briefly turns his back to you. You see flame jetting out from his midsection for a few seconds. When he turns back to you he is polishing a completed monocle, which he hands to you. 'This is a wonderful device. I believe it will serve you well. Keep it with you, you never know when you'll need such a thing. Keep your eyes open for better lens material. Tell me if you find anything that you think might make it better.'

You will receive Treddlehoop's Wonderful Monoculor Seeing Device which is the "key" for Dreadspire

Scavenger Hunting

Loot 1 Shiliskin Tentacle Cluster from a Shiliskin - Illsalin Ruins
Loot 1 Drachnid Silk Gland from Drachnids - Hive
Loot 2 Chopping Sword from a deep orc - Stoneroot Falls

Turn all items into Treddlehop

Receive: Treddlehoop's Signature Monocle

The Illsalin wasn't too bad. We killed prob about 20 before we found the item we needed. The Orcs in Stoneroot it took maybe 10 min tops, killed prob about 20 of them and received two. However, the hive section took us over 2 hours. We must have killed approx over 100 mobs before we finally found it. I gained at least 4 1/2 AAs in that time, so I estimate over 100 mobs at least.

I was too low at 62 for this task, but a friend was 65 and got one to go into the hive. we dropped it because our group wasn't strong enough for the hive.

Will try to get more info.
