You need to be at least amiable faction to Merchants of Kaladim in order to start this quest. You say, 'Hail, Karam Dragonforge' Karam Dragonforge says 'Welcome, _____. I have a number of platemail items, if you are interested. I am also a master [smith] of exotic materials such as dragon scales.' You say, 'A master smith of what?' Karam Dragonforge says 'Dragon scales make terrfic armor. I can make a [white dragonscale cloak] and [red dragonscale armor]. I have not seen any other colored dragon variants around. But if you see any, be sure to let me know. I would be interested in what can be made from their scales.' You say, 'What red dragonscale armor?' Karam Dragonforge says 'So you have a red dragon scale, eh? Well, I am wanting very much to return to my fiancee and propose to her. If you could aid me in quickly returning to her with a bit of spare change, we could have a deal. Heck, for the armor, a vial of swirling smoke and 1000 platinum coins is a bargain!' Completed this morning after killing Naggy and getting the scale. Total cost in Plat is 2024pp since swirling smoke cost 1024pp and he asks for 1k. Faction was Indifferent. He's bunking with a gnome in a round house next to the Inn closest to Lake Rathe zone.
Was able to get this at indifferent. Apprehensive was rejected.
Looking for confirmation if this quest is broken or not. Thanks!
This quest still works just fine. There may have been a problem with Karam's other quest, but not this one.
Also, this quest seems to require amiable faction with Merchants of Kaladim. Which is quite easy to get -- level 1 dwarves start out at amiable.

You do need faction to get Karam Dragonforge to open the quest to you. Don't know which factions, but I assume the same you get from the CB Belts quest. So instead, my Half-Elf Pally used an 'Essence of Dwarf' and he offered me the quest.

Does this quest still use the red dragon scales or was it changed to use a red dragon hide? It doesn't make any sense to me why you would modify the quest that uses WDS(one epic) but not change the quest that uses the RDS(two epics).

Dragonforge cons aprehesively to me, he will not speak to me if I hail him. Anyone know what faction he is so I can do some quests or kill ceratain things for him to like me??? This info would really help, thank you.

You obviously don't raid much. AC don't mean crap when your dealing with spells hitting you that are fire,ice, etc. based. Price? Well, I don't know about it being right or not, but resists are THE most important thing in certain situations. Yes AC is king, but resists will keep you alive :)

Well, I play a 51 troll warrior and resists are nice, but what happens if you don't resist? Hps are what saves me in almost every situation. More hps = better. I'm still using barbed ringmail until I can snag a thurg BP or have enough saved for a fierce heraldic. Sure, 50 hps is not a lot for one slot, but if every slot has 50 hps it makes a very noticeable difference. The only thing I would trade barbed ringmail out for is something with the same or higher ac and more hps =)

all i no is on tunare the scales are sallin for 3-5k for warror / bard epic now so 3-5k plus 1.5k for smoke plus 1k = 7.5k at most bp on tunare is 9k u can make 1.5k on this quest over and over and over u get my idea

Think about it. For 1500pp, you have to acquire a red dragon scale, then the smoke, then go and give the guy the quest item, then sell the BP. On Saryrn, this thing is constantly auctioned, and I don't see many WTB. So, if it takes you two days to find the scale, then two days to sell the BP (that's just a conservative estimate), that means you'd make about 1500pp every 4 days. In those 4 days you could just go to Velks and get a shot at some CC armor (and get XP in the process), go to HS and camp some Bloodpoints and dragon sashes (and get XP in the process), go to ME and camp some shaded weapons (and get XP in the process), go to WW and kill some lowbie dragons for dragon armor (and get a little XP in the process), or just go to Rathe Mountains and kill the giants. Not to mention gems/netted kelp in SG, velium weapons in DN, IGS in the Hole, or any of a number of good money/XP camps. Any one of those camps (with the exception of the giants) could make you 2-15kpp+ in the same 4 days, and the items would be much easier to get rid of. And if you didn't notice a theme, all (with the exception of the giants) would net you quite a bit of XP.

Hey peeps....need some input rather quickly here. Got a guy who is gonna sell me a "red dragon scales" for about 10k. Is this the same thing as "a red dragon scale" used in the warrior/bard epic? And if not--->What are "red dragon scales for"?

The scale will fetch you upwards of around 20k or so, server dependant. Is this tunic worth, well, 22k to you? I would hope not... you could get a FAR superior BP for around 10k
The reason the scale goes for so much is because it's used for the warrior AND bard epic quests. Enjoy your breastplate though, and realize what it cost you.

There is a NPC by the name of Nortlav the Scalekeeper in the Hole. Hes a lvl 52-55 Erudite SK. Hes a lil tuff but he drops the Red dragon salce that you could possibly use for the BP. But if you think about it, Warrior Epics are pretty much a status symbol now since Velium weapons that drop in the hihger lvl dungeons (ToV) make your epic pretty much useless. Besides its nice to have something that you dont see very often. Ya most will think your an idiot for using your scale for this but hey, its your scale. Do what ever you please with it, ppl need to mind their own business and start worring about themselves.

ok Look at this. I'm a ranger. I would love to have the scale to get the armor, as I think every persone who can use the armor would. I understand that every warrior wants there epic, as every class what's ther epic. But this is a real simple problem to fix. Before you go on the raid, ask the raid leader what the loot police is. If a guild is hosting the event and says that the scale will only be roled on by the warrior's in there guild, and you don't like that, DON'T GO ON THE RAID. But if he says that everyone can roll on the scale, and you don't like that DON'T GO ON THE RAID. Simple. No makes anyone go on a dragon raid. And the fact that this is used for the warrior epic DOESN'T make it warriors only. I't not like the Tolans, or the Cobalt or any of the other class spicefic armor that drops. So please stop argueing here, warriors are never going to be convinced that others should roll for it, and the other class are never going to be convinced that it's warrior only. So please just find the loot police of the raid leader, and make sure that everyone that might be going on the raid knows the loot police, and if you don't like the one there useing DON'T GO.

To the Smart **** that thinks every guild has Warriors. Well, you are wrong. This is a nice piece of armor to say the least. Pre-Vel. its Top of the Line. Rogues I think would do best with this for that handy lil BS they do so well with. Good luck getting the scale. Oh, and it can be looted of the Rogue guildmasters corpse in Qeynos as well. Not the BP but the red dragon Scale. Still testing the pick pocket idea on him. Skill still lil' low.

ur right most gnarly guilds have quite a few wars but they are not AS essential as u make them seem for raids(dont get me wrong sometimes wars are only one that can do it)...my guild on Sullen zek uses SKs more then warriors on raids (we do use warriors when they are aviable) but Sks get the job done when they have to providing our clerics are on top of healing.

Well I hate to break it to you but Warriors are overrated. My guild has 54 members and only one warrior, a 52 Ogre. I'm only a decently Equiped Half-Elf Pally..49th level. And when dueling the warrior and I are pretty neck in neck. Of the few times we Dueled, the only thing that seemed to affect who one was if he got a bunch of good crits in, cause my Lay on Hands actually gave me more HP's than he had. I'm wanderign off topic but my point was this.. Warriors arnt neccisary to raid. Are they a better meatshield than a Pally or SK? Yes only slightly. Are they benificial to raids? Most definatly! Are they Required? Definatly not.. Now I do understand warriors get alot better once they can use their diciplines and that changes alot of things. But still they are not required.
I just got agravated when it seems like somone is saying we are no good cause we dont have warriors, when I can take out warriors the same level as me... Its actually fun to duel them. When i'm at 25% health and they are a little below 50%, they useually start giving me the whole good fight..yadda yadda yadda routine. till i lay on hands and suddenly I'm at max HP and they have less then half. Most often the only thing I hear after that is "crap".... Sorry turned into a rant. shutting up now. =P

Yes, the warrior would probably beat the Pally without LoH. However, LoH is part of what balances the different classes. The warrior would also beat a wizard if a wizard didn't use spells, a bard that didn't use songs, etc. And, I'm willing to bet, most classes would beat the warrior if he didn't use weapons.

ok sorry to break this to you, but you seem to be basing your whole argument on you being able to take down one 52 warrior, I'm just here ta tell you that a properly equipped warrior can first off wipe the floor with anything less then a totally uber 49pally, and also that just because your even in a duel does not mean that your superior in a group or that your skills can be more widely used, warriors are there only to keep little pali's like you alive since your lay hands pops how often? yeah thought so. if you think warriors are over rated tell that to your next warrior on a raid and see what happens when he blows you off and leaves

If ANYONE I knew got this, I would beat their ***. Skipping a warrior epic for this piece of crap is just wrong. And if yu killed one of these dragons, you almost definetly had a warr with you. As for people wondering about the price on this, it's because it's the highest droppable str bp (which means more backstabs for a rogue). But still, even with that if you get this item, you suck and I hope your local guild warrior kicks your ***... And last thing, people complaining about iksars not being able to use, well iksars suck don't play one. Or quit ********* but I would suggest the not playing one idea.

Hey, idiots boy. I've seen a SINGLE naggy raid. Sure, only one. A rogue got the scale. Reason? 8 warriors on the raid, no bards. Every warrior had the epic already. What, they gonna take another one? Kick his ***, brightboy.

well....for your info, on alot of raids, some of the higher ranking people in guild will loot the scale if no one needs atm....that way when a warrior/bard comes along that DOES need it, its awaiting them, instead of wasting it on this bp which sucks, because think of it this way, tree weave is 25ac 10str, only half the str 4 more ac, and it only cost you 1k. whereas this bp that you guys are ranting and raving about costs 1k without considering the scale and the vial....have fun with your crappy breastplate, as for me...i'll use scale for my epic

You are thinking of swirling mist, for moonlight temper( elven cultural armor), vials of swirling smoke are made by shamans or bought from vendors
