This quest is only for Human Clerics who worship Karana.

You say, 'Hail, Vansted Rohenga'

Vansted Rohenga says 'Pleased to meet you Celestrae, I am Vansted Rohenga High Priest of Karana. I have spent all of my years studying the ways of the Cleric in our wonderful Temple of Thunder. We receive many new recruits every day and it is my duty to place them in my [training program].'

You say, 'what training program'

Vansted Rohenga says 'Well all young clerics of Karana are brought up from their first day of training to know and respect their practice. I have developed a number of exercises that will enable a young cleric to make a set of their own armor by means of collecting certain items and making [enchanted armor materials] out of them.'

You say, 'what enchanted armor materials'

Vansted Rohenga says 'Recently we have discovered that combing certain items in certain quantities using a magical assembly kit can forge together an armor material. These armor materials are used with specific armor molds to create a piece of enchanted Stormhealer Armor. If you would like to [begin forging armor materials] I will present you with your Stormhealers Assembly Kit.'

You say, 'l would like to begin forging armor materials'

Vansted Rohenga says 'Excellent Celestrae, please take this Stormhealers Assembly Kit. It is in this kit that you will combine certain items together into materials necessary for crafting your armor. I can present you with the material recipes and armor molds for Stormhealer [Helms], [Bracers], [Armguards], [Boots], [Greaves], [Gauntlets] and [Breastplates]. When you are ready to gather the items for an armor piece simply tell me what piece you [want] to craft. Once you have created a specific material take it to a forge along with the applicable mold to create your armor piece.'

You say, 'want craft greaves'

Vansted Rohenga says 'Here is your Stormhealers Greaves Mold. To create your greaves material you will need to combine 5 Bricks of Crude Iron, 1 Giant Fire Beetle Brain, 1 Shadow Wolf Paw, 1 Bottle and 1 Raw Bamboo in your assembly kit. Once you have created the proper material take it to a forge along with this mold to fashion your very own Greaves of the Stormhealer.'

I've been working on this quest all out. The only item I need is the Shadow Wolf Paw. I have traveled to the Misty Thicket, all of Karana, and the Nektulos Forest. I've never seen a shadow wolf in the WK, and attempts to find one with a Tracking (32) have failed. However I will try at night. Thanks for posting above; knowing that someone has actually found a paw and have completed the quest have given me new hope to continue this quest. May Karana guide you all well.

The shadow wolves in WK spawn in the mountains between the 2 bandit camps. Just stay in the rocky (grey) areas and be on the lookout for the ogres, Froon, Choon, Ghoul Messenger and stray bandits since they all pass through the area. But in about 30 minutes time I killed 3 wolves during the day in which the 3rd had the paw. Hope this helps.

Is this a foraged item or vendor item? Does anyone know where to find it?

Thanks!

Its a vendor item. Its a low level bard instrument.
Not-for-Newbs?

My guess on this piece is that an actual newb can't get the piece solo. Previous experience with GFBs in EC indicates a L5 Cleric has 0.026% chance of taking one. May be able to newb-group for it though. Will check when Baby Cleric gets over to EC.

Looted a shadow wolf paw from a black wolf in WK. Other wolves probably drop them too -- good to have someone who can track, as it is a big zone to try and find a relatively uncommon MOB.

Unlike the giant fire beetle brains, this item is also droppable (had my ranger go get one for my cleric).

Stats on this armor are much nicer than what the Freeport clerics get. Guess they want more people to play in Qeynos.

Hey guys, are you sure that a shadow wolf paw exists? The greaves are the only piece of the armor my cleric needs. I had my 20 RNG tracking in WK and I didn't even know black wolves were there. all I ever see are Mist Wolves. I can't find a paw anywhere.
If anyone is on Ayonae Ro and has a shadow wolf paw, give Barnabus a holler, ok?

Yeah, I'm sure it drops, since I combined it and sent it to allakhazam in a Screenshot :)
Hunt for shadow wolves at night. They seem to be more common then, and the same goes for scarecrows when getting the lock of straw for the breastplate.
The Brain

I was unable to get any Giant Fire Beetles in W. Karana to drop the Brain. I went to E. Commons, and the 4th GFB I killed dropped a brain. Since then I have seen 3 more (I quit looking after I found the GFB Carapace).

I think the combine on this is unfailable, as with all the other pieces of the set. My Smitihing did go up 1 point however.
