Here's where you can find the pieces for the quest:
Barley- Female merchant sells it just before the North freeport zone in. (can not be found off mobs)
Ore- Commonly found off orc pawns in EC. Can also be found off merchants in EC.
Meat pie- Run to the far west end of ec, almost to the zone out, go into the inn there, I think one of them sells the meat pie.
Rat Ears- Commonly found off rats in freeport newbie area. The big rats, not the small rodents.
The helm looks cool to. Kind of a deep golden brown colour.

This is a newbie armor quest that begins with Arinna Trueblade in West Freeport. She's located at 570, -600, -86 (not far from the bank and findable using CTRL+F).
You say, 'Hail, Arinna Trueblade' Arinna Trueblade says 'Well met _____. I am Arianna Trueblade, Warlord of the Steel Warriors. I am personally in charge of all the training that our young warriors receive. I take pride in knowing that my teaching can help make the foundation of a Freeport Champion. If you are a [warrior] then we might just have something to talk about.' You say, 'I am a warrior' Arinna Trueblade says 'So you think you have what it takes to become one of Freeport's finest? I will warn you now that we expect every single warrior that is brought into our ranks to go through a series of [exercises]. Rest assured you will be rewarded for your hard work with a set of armor that I will walk you though the process of making. Are you [ready to begin your testing]?' You say, 'I am ready to begin my testing' Arinna Trueblade says 'Very well _____, Here is your Steel Warriors Mail Kit. This kit will be your main tool in creating your own armor. You will gather various items from all areas of Freeport from monsters and stores alike. You will use specific item combinations in this kit to fashion together armor materials that you will combine in a forge with the appropriate mold to make an armor piece. Once you are ready to attempt a piece of armor simply tell me what piece you [want] to craft. I will then present you with the recipe and mold for Steel Warrior [Helms], [Bracers], [Armguards], [Boots], [Greaves], [Gauntlets] and [Breastplates].' You receive a Steel Warriors Mail Kit and a Mold. You say, 'I want to craft a helm' Arinna Trueblade says 'Any Steel Warrior that is caught not wearing a helm is usually placed on probation. We feel it is necessary sometimes to do this so that our younger ones in training will understand the importance of keeping your head well protected. To create your helm material you will need to combine 2 Bricks of Crude Iron Ore, 1 Rat Ear, 1 Meat Pie and 1 Barley in your assembly kit. Once you have created the proper material take it to a forge along with this mold to fashion your very own Steel Warriors Helm.' In the kit, combine the above-mentioned items to create a Material. 1. Go to east commonlands, kill orcs to get the iron ore (should be very easy.) 2. Buy meat pie from the merchants (i bought it from the merchant in East Commonlands. 3. Barley and Rat Ears, can be purchased from merchants in Freeport

This one is as easy as it sounds, just head out to the West Commons area and kill some rats. The ears that they drop are the ears that you need, regardless of what the actual title of the things are.

I got it figured out...rat ears DO work.
Be careful, though, as player-made meat pies will NOT work, I repeat will NOT work. This was confirmed by a GM Admin.

I've killed hundreds of large rats and have yet to see a rat ear. I've tried to use one of the rat earS, but it keeps telling me I can't combine in this container.

The rat ear you need comes off of the newbie rat. Large Rat. can be found in WF outside the gates. They are random drop. common to uncommon.

I can't find freeport stout anywhere is it player made if so what is recipe any info would be appreciated. Also you can by meat pies from last inn in EC

You can get Freeport Stout From a woman in EC. Her name is Jaleel Hoglomp, she is a barmaid in the Grub and Grog Tavern. She did not what to talk to me for some reason, but I got a Wizard to buy me some for a few silver.

You can get barley in WF from a dark haired woman selling brewing supplies near the zone to North Freeport. Can't miss her if you are going to the bank.

Have to buy the meat pie from evil tavern behind inn with soulbinder in E. freeport. tried all kinds of combines till I went looking for stout and figured i'd try that (since wt. was different) and viola, new helm. Not better stat wise then my Lt. helm, but looks cool.
