You say, 'Hail, Hibbs Rootenpaw'

Hibbs Rootenpaw says 'Hello! I am Hibbs Rootenpaw, Master Druid of the Storm Reapers. If you have not yet ventured beyond Rivervale beware of the [dangers] that lurk through out the lands beyond our shire. There are many evil beings that would not hesitate to end the life of a young druid of the Storm Reapers. '

You say, 'What Dangers'

Hibbs Rootenpaw says 'The Teir'Dal, or Dark Elves, to the east have slain a number of brave Storm Reapers that are attempting to cleanse the Nektulos Forest of the corruption caused by the Teir'Dals evil magics. To the west, the human farmers in the Plains of Karana are beset upon by vicious tribes of Gnolls and must valiantly defend their farms. Closer to home the Death Fist Orcs and Goblin Clans Runnyeye and Pick Claws all attempt to control the Misty Thicket and chop down its sturdy trees for lumber. If you are planning on leaving the safety of Rivervale I advise you to deliver this note to Bartle Barnick. He will help you get yourself outfitted for survival in the wilds. When he has outfitted you in a suit of protective leather return here for [further instruction]. '

You say, 'Further instructions.'

Hibbs Rootenpaw says 'If you feel you are ready for the responsibility of an important task then you may assist with the [investigation] of the ancient cursed fields in the Misty Thicket. The crumbling walls that surround the cursed fields are believed to have been constructed around the same time as the ruined tower and the great wall of Cetelt. We Storm Reapers believe that the walls once surrounded beautiful and fruitful gardens. The arrogance of the caretaker of the gardens offended the Gods and in turn the gardens were cursed with disease and an evil power that animates the corpses of the dead. The Scarecrow, Old Gourdhead, stands in one of these two fields and warns passers by that it is an accursed place. Recently someone has been placing rats in the fields to become diseased. '

*Hand note to Bartle Barnick*

Bartle Barnick says 'It is good to see another of our young people choose the humble life of a druid of Karana. I have assembled that will allow you to construct some protective leather garments to keep you comfortable in the wilds and help turn aside the weapons of the Storm Reapers enemies. The required components for the leather vary according to which piece of Moss Toe Leather you are planning on crafting. Do you wish to craft a [moss toe cap], a [moss toe bracer], [moss toe gloves], [moss toe boots], [moss toe sleeves], [moss toe leggings], or a [moss toe tunic]. '

You say, 'Moss Toe Boots'

Bartle Barnick says 'To assemble Moss toe Boots you will require two [silk thread], two ruined mossy rat pelts, and two giant wood spider hairs. Once you have the necessary components combine them in your Mail Assembly Kit with this Tattered Boot Pattern. '

Bear-hide boots
# Jul 03 2004 at 2:20 PM Rating: Excellent
Most of the Moss Toe armor is nice, but for boots, I'd recommend skipping these and going for bear-hide boots (http://www.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=1753). (For people with planes of power anyway, because they can just go through the Plane of Knowledge to get everywhere.) All they require is a medium quality bear skin (http://www.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=18288) and 15 gold.

Giant Wood Spider Hairs
# Jun 05 2003 at 12:22 PM Rating: Default
My friends and I have killed many, many Giant Wood Spiders in search of the hairs needed for the Moss Toe Boots. I would rate them as "very rare", and to the point that I was beginning to wonder if there was not some game error or perhaps they had been omitted. Then just the other day I journeyed out to hunt some spiders. I killed 2 and each one had 1 hair. I was shocked to say the least. I killed 2 more and they had nothing.

See my other post on the same thing. I have now put in about 20 hours of actual time running around MT and still have only found one hair. It's making it more difficult now that other halflings are looking for them too. Grrrrrrrrr....

Acolyte's Anklet
# Aug 20 2002 at 8:17 AM Rating: Default
When you hit level 20 it'd be a sinch to do the Acolyte's Anklet quest in Rivervale. I say 20 because then you'll have tracking & it make's finding that elusive bull alligator all the more easier in the swamp. Of course you could pay someone to gather all the skins needed for the quest as they are lore only, not no drop.
My druid still wears hers =)
silk threads?

how do you sew the spiderling silkes together?

Greetings all! I am here to tell you how to make silk thread. All you need is to tailor 2 spiderling silks together by using a small sewing kit or by a public loom. You will get an icon that looks like.... well.... thread -doh!- As an added note, if you tailor 2 silk threads together you make a aloe swatch for you to practice your Bind Wound skill.
Hope this helps! Safe journeys and many victories to you all!

Yes, but it's a typo. Just spell moss with one S.
[mos toe boots] this is the same for all of them.

Being the dummy that you sound like, I bet you havent even done this quest. The guy that gives you the note does NOT say where the guy you get the assembly kit from is! Why dont YOU try reading a bit more, mm'kay? By the way, the guy that does give it is in the tunnels in the north I believe, close to where the Mangler dog is. Hope it helps.

Mm'kay. Well I posted over a year ago, so you had lots of time to mull your answer over before getting it wrong. My point was that Hibbs Rootenpaw TELLS YOU the name of the person you're looking for and he's not difficult to find. The person you're referring to in the tunnels is for the Ranger armour quests. Oh yes I have a full set of that amour. This thread is about the druid armour. Shame you didn't read a little closer before getting on your high horse. Who's the dummy?

Diseased rat camp to left of tunnel (facing out) drop the mossy ruined rat pelts. Keep killing rats and eventualy you will see a gray pelt. The rat furs are brown, sell those.

You want to go out of Rivervale, to the right. in Misty thicket... there is a scarecrow, and he has a huge amount of rats around him. All of those drop all of various kinds. hope this helps.

Since I can't afford GEBS, I'm going to get these tonight for my 29 druid. Pretty lame item at that level, but better then nothing.

Not sure what the stats are on these boots, but you could try doing the Acolyte Anklet quest in the clerics guild instead. Not that hard, and they have decent stats.
