Cook Yalkiin may be found at -155, +450, -165.

Cook Yalkiin says 'Welcome to our kitchen! As you can tell we stay pretty busy in here. There are a lot of people to feed and a vast number of delicious meals to feed them. I'm in charge of preparing stews, broth, and vegetables. If you ever have any questions about those areas, please let me know.'

You say, 'What broth?'

Cook Yalkiin says 'I can make broth from just about anything. Meat, water, and spices can be turned into a base broth for just about and stew or sauce. The current favorite around here comes from the meat of the large worms that come up from the earth around the base of our city. I know that they look horrid, but they really do taste great! If you want to help, I will pay for every four servings that you bring me.'

A Xakra Larva drops the Worm Meat and may be found in the pit beneath the city. Give Cook Yalkiin 4 Worm Meat unstacked.

Cook Yalkiin looks at each piece of meat before wrapping them in a spiced cloth. 'These look like good cuts of meat. I hope that this will suffice as payment,' he says as he stacks the wrapped meat on the counter.

You receive some coins and the occasional weapon or piece of armor or weapon.

Though it might not seem it, this can be a good quest to get some extra coin and items. Many players sell their worm meat to vendors, so if you have extra coin, grab a stack of 20 and hand them in. It's how I got my warrior a level or two on Phinigel.

So a few years later and on Aradune.

Not worth doing as you can find other mobs to fight and items to sell that are better.

You don't get a weapon everytime you do a turn in.

And then theres the 1 in 4 chance of getting the one needed for Claw Beast Talon Club quest.

wooden practice short sword was my reward (along with the coins) today.

Odds are, there is a wide range of possible rewards, as this seems very similar as his other quest involving the rhino beetle claws

Upon turning in 4 worm meat I received a Wooden Practice Flail and 8 silver. I imagine the cash varies, but I will find out when I do the quest again!

An Update

I did this quest while gathering shadeling silk for my beastlord's handwraps. (Pain in the ****** First time I got 9 silver, 10 copper, second time I got 9 silver, 7 copper, and third time I got 10 silver, 11 copper.

So basically you get about a gold for 4 worm meats, which is a lot more than you would get if you just sold it to a merchant.

My advice is if you're hunting Xakras and the meats are stacking up go ahead and do this quest, it makes a difference, no matter how small.

All I want is to cook with love...

I'm just ticked that after making the guy explain every detail of how he makes these things, that these recipes are, in a nutshell, completely useless. I mean what sense does it make to do a quest for a cook when all you get back are wooden weapons? Ow! It hurts my brain!
meat and teeth

Ok, two to say here. The 4 worm meats gets you coin and random item in return ( exp and faction too). The teeth are for a quest. I forget the NPCs name, but Ill give the best I can to tell you where he is. If you stand in front of Chialle ( south bridge at your back ) face left and run all the way down. You'll see a horse at a bench, go around his butt, and you'll see 2 NPCs ( one to your front and one to your right ) The one on your right you hail ( he should be a black color ). He asks for your slate, and hands you a sack. Fill it with the teeth that drops from the worms. Return it, you recieve 3 darts exp and faction. The blue viles that drop are for shaman quest ( check out the Shaman kitty quest ) the roots and acryila pebble ya sell. The bad can be used as such or sold.

Hope this helps =D

If you mean the fangs, they are used to make arrowheads I believe.
Second part?
# May 27 2002 at 1:37 AM Rating: Default
Has anyone started the second part of this quest? If you say 'What vegetables?' to the cook after hailing him, he answers 'I could go on forever about vegetables. There is such a huge variety to choose from and so much that you can do with... well... come back a bit later and we can talk about them in greater detail.'

I have a level 9 shaman with ally faction. Maybe my level is to low or my baking to lousy (it's zero ...) But I am pretty sure, that there is more to do.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 23 2002 at 3:47 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) OKAY EVERYONE HAS NOW BEATEN THE DEAD WORM WITH A STICK CAN WE NOW GET ON WITH THE GAME?
#REDACTED, Posted: May 12 2002 at 11:05 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Worm, wurm, wyrm....has anyone else here, besides me, ever actually checked out the origins of these words? I mean...the latin origins?
#Anonymous, Posted: May 20 2002 at 7:53 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) 1: What does this have to do with the quest?
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 20 2002 at 11:45 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) What the hell is wrong with you Amarican is a language its what we speek here in amarica... theres no official language.. english is over in englind. We don't even speek english. our language over here is a mix of latin, German, and a hole other mix of languages. WE...Us that live in amarica... have our own language.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jul 21 2002 at 7:39 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) right hon. sad to say, but you would be...WRONG! what sort of uneducated piece of crap are you that you don't know the name of your own language? the "American" language is English with slang added, which would make it a secondary dialect of English. then again, maybe I misinterpreted and you weren't talking about America but "Amarica," wherever the hell that may be.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 06 2002 at 6:16 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) What armor would you get (type).

"Wyrm" is another way to spell "wurm", unless EQ has a special meaning for it (I do not believe that it does). In fact, the traditional spelling is "wyrm" - why "wurm" is used, I don't know.

Ok, Ok, Ok, I am probably THE worst speller/grammer person in the world at the age of 26 heh twice the age of the supposed Verant writers... But i have over 15 years of Role Playing in its Various forms under my belt and I have to say the Worm, Wyrm, Wurm are all useages of the same meaning... A serpentine like creature. Now to expand on each one would take forever.. and since this is a Quest information board, and I did come here for quest information only to find RANT after Rant of the spelling/grammatical usages of the word WORM I am no more inclined on this quest than I was when I came here... so here is my own rant to all you ENGLISH MAJORS out there... **STUFF IT** Its a game, and like all other games computer or paper and pencil, you make it better by adding and or ommiting correct usages and or pronounciations of words and or creatures.

Thank you have a nice day, oh and come again your always welcome at Wal MArt.

You find the Cook Yalkiin by entering the Palace, go to King's Throne Room, then hang a left. The door there is the kitchen. If you went right, you find the stairs leading to the roof or down to lower floors.

Its a shame that people get off on putting others down.
To my fellow gramatically challenged brethren, I say " Let thum ate kake!"

Oh and as to the wurm, worm thing...
It's the big black crawly things in the pit!
There, is that better?

At least I post with my account name. Yeesh.
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 12 2002 at 1:53 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Just because you have a plethera of high level characters where does that give you the right to insult and or berate an individual for stateing there comments and speaking on a subject that clearly requests reply ...... and you think that because you have so many characters at such levels you assume that you are better than the person that you have replied to .... the only thing that it shows is that you have no life no class and certainly no tact
EXP?

ok i know you r all going to laff cuz i couldnt spell if my life depended on it, so plz disregard my feabl attemt, and look at the info i have not the way i spell it ....i have a larger alt and gave my BST 100pp to get it started ..went around to all the venders and bought all the worm meat i could find, then went to turn it in at lvl 4 it didnt give me very much exp at all (maby 1/4th of a blue for 120 meat's) witch kinda ticked me off cuz thats why i did it in the first place was for the exp ..oh well !! but on a happier note i did get alot of wooden wep and some lether belts and gloves not enough to sell back for the coin i spent on meat but, enough for me to get the pitcher that this is not a very good quest for exp =P i would sugest this quest for nuubi players who need the items or atleast ppl under lvl 4 for exp ...

a very frustrated kitty who would shock you if rubed backwords...

With this quest you weren't suppose to buy and then sell you were suppose to kill and then sell. I am still only fifth level shaman and extra xp for getting xp is good to me. I mean I kill xakras and when my inventory is filled I go sell my stuff. I already have to leave the pit to sell stuff, why not get a little extra xp and a little extra copper by going a few more feet and hand the meat to a specific NPC. I seams worth it to me.

some people that play may not have english as a first languge. (/bird) Something else is i have met very young people playing. I know of at least two 13 year olds that i am friends with.

On another note Good info there. Sad to hear not worth really doing tho.

good info in your post. keep up the good work. apparently some people dont realize this message board should stress quality of the information, not quality of grammar. But I think you typed that message poorly to see the morons flame it. good work there too.
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 04 2002 at 11:14 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Did you not pay attention in school. Are you maybe a redneck on crack. That would probably explain alot.
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 02 2002 at 8:08 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) What are we raving about? Someone spelled worm, wurm? and someone else said silk worms when in the pit they are xakra larva. Please get a life. I obviously don't have one or I wouldn't waste my time posting a stupid reply to this liitle rant of you infantile egomaniacs particularly the gem that comes from higher education.
