For those of you working on the progression servers who actually need the old-school newbie progression quests in Erudin:
This quest is bugged, in that Lereana will keep repeating the phrase "slay the kobold shaman" no matter what response you give her, and never update your quest journal. It's been bugged and /petitioned but Daybreak will probably get to fixing it sometime around 2017. Fortunately, you can just hand in the three odd kobold paws anyway! Lereana will then credit you with the quest and most importantly advance you to the next quest in the Warrens.

When I used my Identify spell on the odd paw, it showed Kobold Shaman Paw.

Don't waste your time turning in Odd paws to her until you con amiable to the Temple of Quellious people (Peacekeepers). If you con less and are in a bind as I was as how to raise your faction. Do the following Catman Convert quest:
To do any of the Peacekeepers quests: Poacher Head, Poacher Leader, Testament of Vanear you must have amiable faction. There is only one way to raise faction with them as there are no mobs you can kill to raise factions and almost all the quests which raise faction with them, start with them and they won't give them to you unless you con amiable, not indifferent. Sound like a bind? Well there is one quest which will raise your faction with them slowly that anyone can do. It is called The Catman Alliance. It starts in the Warrens prison sector. There you will find an Erudite Captive named Aderius Rhenar along with some Kerran captives. If you hail him he will ask you if you are returning to Erud soon. Answer "I plan to return to erudin soon" and he will give you a note to give to Leraena Shelyrak in the Temple of Quellious where you will receive a smigit of exp and the all important FACTION. Then repeat as necessary until you have your faction raised. Hope this helps.

I got my Testament of Vanear without being amiable to anyone in Erudin.

There's a guy in the Peacekeeper's guild who will ask you to fetch the Testament of Vanear from the Library for him only if you are amiable or above faction. You then find out in the library that it was checked out by Moodoo who was killed. But then when you talk to his sister, she says a doppleganger (double) of his was killed but he escaped to Qeynos.
Then in Qeynos, presumably after asking Moodoo about the Testament of Vanear, then you would get to the part of the quest where you start getting the pages together to get the Testament.
So, no, you don't need to be amiable to anyone in Erudin to get the Testament, because you can start the quest in one of the middle stages. However, without outside information, you could not have discovered the existence of the Testament without being amiable to Peacekeepers in the first place.
There's also the option, after getting the Testament of Vanear, of bringing it back to the original erudite who asks for it (which you have to be amiable or better to Peacekeepers to do), but few people do this, because the Testament is more useful than a few faction hits, and he doesn't give you anything major in return for turning in the item.
Then in Qeynos, presumably after asking Moodoo about the Testament of Vanear, then you would get to the part of the quest where you start getting the pages together to get the Testament.

I also noticed that when I returned the bone dice (Prince drops in warrens) to Miranda in the Kajek village in StoneBurnt that it increased PeaceKeeper faction. After returning the alliance note and bone dice a large number of times (25, 9) I finally made amiable. The odd kobald paws lead to the quest for the quellious initiate. Finally found out what all those odd bone, odd bronze and odd steel necklaces are for. :-) The lesser shaman drop the odd bone, Greater Shaman the odd bronze and the high shaman the odd steel one.

I killed a shaman and received an Odd Kobold Paw. This does not seem to be the same as the shaman paw.... Is it? If not, what is the odd one for?
The Odd Kobold Paw is the item that you want for the quest.

You also are rewarded a new quest...To kill lesser shaman kobolds in the warrens and collect 8 odd necklaces...After completing this quest you are givien Initiate symbol of Quellious, a no drop necklace ac 3, wis +1, mana +5 with effect lull...so far the nicest item ive seen that can be aquired under lvl 12...you are awarded a new quest after this one which i have not yet completed...The necklace is no drop and can only be used by erudite clerics

I can confirm this. She does indeed give you a new quest and a bag to fill up with necklaces. Unfortunately but I can't complete it on the deity war server. Warrens is totally owned by the evils/Heretics on Sullon Zek. No way you are getting 8 of anything there.

Not to mention getting the kobolds hostile. Their initial reaction to you is indifferent until you start killing them. Very similar to the frogloks factionwise.
So my Necromancer can't do anything with this pile of paws that he has collected other than to sell them to a passing cleric or set fire to them?
