I've been swimming around here for hours, killing all the place holder hammer head sharks, and the bandits, but have never once seen a diseased one spawn. Is this common? super long spawn time? or is this having issues? If the sharks are spawning in the walls, how can i fix this?

I am currently at amiable faction and the NPC still won't flag me for this quest so the faction must be higher than amiable for this one! I am currently checking all others for Deepwater Knights faction and will post on their pages if I find anything different!

Sharks spawn on either the right or left side of the dock. Make sure to check both sides.

Thanks, I updated the quest text accordingly.
In actuality - the normal shark skin does not work. You need teh shark skin off the diseased shark which is special. Your item list I think it correct, the text implies a normal one will work.

As Erudite Paladin, but of Quellious, I still have enough faction to do Pearls of Odus quest. If Weligon will give you the bag to gather pearls in, you can do that quest as an entry into the other Deepwater knight quests. While you're out gathering pearls, you can also kill the diseased shark and the swimming smugglers to get their coins to give to one of the other Deepwater Knights guildmasters.

wait i found out there is a molor quest, if yo ugo to the back of the paladin guild there is a guy tiam or somthing forgot starts with a t and if you talk to him he will tell you to do a molar quest, pretty sure you get faction and money for it then youcan do the barnicle quest, got to kill kabolds and get there molars from warren area.

i tried quest a couple times first with my rng, faction was too low to get the bag, then with my pally but he worships quellious so i couldnt get the bag with him either. then i made a prexus pally and succesfully got the bag, transfered to my quel pally got items combined then when i turned them in his faction, even though amiable, was still not high enough. got items and bag again handed them in with the prex pally and got the bp. did it twice tonite, good bp for a rather simple quest.

Okay, I have a lvl 8 human pally that worshps Erollisi Marr. With faction work via the heretic battle quest, can I do this quest, and get this spiffy breastplate?

if you kill Elial Brook your faction with the Deepwater Knights go up. The other part of the Heritic battle (turning in the bones to the Mage's guild) only raises faction with the mages and the High Council (if you do not mind being in bad with the Heretics, sinc both parts of the quest lower your faction with them. Killing hereitic prophets (they were green and light blue to my 9th lvl wizzy) will also give the same faction as killing Elial.
One final word of warning about Elial: if you are looking to solo him, wait until you are at least 9th lvl unless you have a great armror class and magic restistance. He is 7th lvl, but can cast a nasty fear spell and he has a pet that can be disruptive if you are trying to cast a spell. See his entry in the bestiary for more info.

I tried this quest to get a nifty armour thing for my pally, but i couldn't get it to work.
i kille the shark and it's babies with my chanter, and after illusion: erudite and alliancing whats-his-name, i conned amiable. but i still couldn't get the bag from him. what gives?

i kille the shark and it's babies with my chanter, and after illusion: erudite and alliancing whats-his-name, i conned amiable. but i still couldn't get the bag from him. what gives?

ok, all u need to do is roll a NEW paladin with ocean god religion (i forget which one). Log off your newbie near the dock. Have your higher level character pull the baby sharks and diseased sharks near the dock, kill them there. Log onto your newbie, loot the bodies, turn in the stuff. The bags are no drop, but the breastplate is tradeable. I've done this quest like 8 or 9 times this way, dont even need to build faction.

When you're high enough in levels to kill the shark placeholder and diseased shark, the young sharks are green. They don't drop the necessary skins due to the trivial loot code on the Firionia Vie server. Pretty lame =/
At level 13 the diseased shark was blue to me and sharks ranged from white to red.

Well, if you are like Mizmora the barbie doll as they call her on seventh hammer. I personaly must agree that the stats are not all that great however who cares it looks so cool. I would also like to see this in a full suit of armor....

well i got a lvl19 rogue.. i got him to do this quest, didnt take to long!

Been trying to do this lately. I am a 29 druid but want this for my level 2 SK (okay, so techincally i'm not even sure he can use it, but i'm hoping :)
I have amiable faction with the deepwater knights (killed hyalken in lava ALOT, and rolled the warrens left and right back when stonebrunt didn't exist), I can chat with Wegion and ask him about the stuff. get to the part where he mentions the diseased shark...
I say i'll hunt it yada yada...
THEN he tells me they can't trust me.

Is this quest not allowed to be done by folks beyond a certain level?

I was helping a cleric with the Midnight Sea Mail Sleeves quest and I decided to kill whatever was swimming in the harboor while I waited for the boat. Jumped in and right in front of me is the diseased shark. Killed him straight off and proceeded to kill the baby sharks. I now have all of the quest components and a nicked coin from the smuggler that spawned right after the sharks died. I was wondering how high does faction have to be to get the breastplate?

Killed Elial Brook 20 times to get the faction up. A few levels back I killed cats on the island in Eruds Crossing and that hurts faction. Cool looking BP and thats about it. Time to sell in EC tunnel.

the place holder is the bigshark that looks like a hammerhead. kill him swim out to the end of the dock turn left and there he is the diseased shark.
the hammer head conned red to me, still killed him
with a druid. entered the water and cast swarm exit med till the swarm is done repeat as nessary

Yeah I attempted to kill the hammerhead looking shark and he was almost gone until a guard healed him to full health. What's with that? Pissed me off. Of course what added to my anger was when the guard came after me and gave me some floggings. Anyone know why he would heal the shark?

before april patch there was only one big shark (red to 12 lv cleric, blue, white, yellow to my lv16), but now there are 3 sharks at once. That means one placeholder of diseased shark, and two extra big ones, and these two are always there, sometimes red to me at lv16. And their path is now random, so they swimm around, also in direction to sand sharks, and they almost dont stay on one place, so now its almost unpossible to make this quest, may be at higher levels or with group.

All you Erudite Paladins can do this quest at level 9, once you get your spells. The diseased shark conned yellow to me at 9th. Just make sure you have your lay on hands ability available because you will need to use it during this fight. Also make sure you have rudimentary archery skills (often there are bows and arrows available at the merchants - sold by people who looted them from the Warrens).
The best way to fight it is to go down the stairs to the rocky ledge by the water. Enter the water so you are just underwater. There are a few places to stand/swim on the ledge. Then shot the DISEASED shark with your bow and bring it to you. You can fight on the ledge, its quick and easy to surface and get air and then go back to the fight. Often the shark will knock you back halfway out of the water which is great because you can keep slashing at him while you are getting air.
Use flash of light toward the end of the battle to blind the diseased shark and hopefully prevent him from swimming away too fast. You may have to jump off the ledge and pursue him a little ways. Once you kill him loot him and swim back to the ledge.
Once he is dead the baby sharks spawn. I managed to kill two with the same tactics then the big red hammerhead shark showed up. Thats why you are on the ledge, so you can get out of the water FAST. :) I managed to pull the shark over too one side of the ledge and took only a little damage. He sits where you pull him so I went to the other side of the ledge, jumped in the water, pulled the last baby shark with my bow, and then killed it and went and got my shield!
Its cool looking, but more of a light blue with black shoulder stripes.

As i said below i will report on the faction. As of may 15, 2001 the faction needed for my human rng was amiable but very close to kindly. I dont know whether this is because of the addition of regard as ally or not but this is what it took for me to get from dubious to amiamble. Here it is Brook 23 times Pearls 5 times, and the young sharks 8 times. Well hoped that help i love my breastplate.
