Just started killing the Protectors and they now, sometimes drop Potameid hair. It is not no drop and it does not stack. Wondering if it can be used for the quest or is it just something new? I have killed about 20 so far, gotten 3 hairs and not one braid.
They also drop various gems and average about 4 plat each. Since almost no one comes here to hunt, it is a great place to farm plat.
I figured out the answer to part of my question; the hair does not have the tradeskill tag. (maybe a new quest??)

These protector potameids are found at the entrance to the underwater caves. Max hit on me (55 ranger) was about 105. They are not only immune to changes in run speed (root/snare), but also immune to changes in attack speed (slow). That said, however they are gimp. Around 5k hitpoints or so.

okies planning a raid on these guys any tips would be wonderful
Like all potameids, they cannot be rooted or snared.
Don't know how "common" rarity is calculated, but i have killed 6 for the leaves and haven't seen them drop yet

i got a polished jade plate off of a protecter or a maiden cant remember kiled about 15 or so =) tried to cross river lol didnt know there were very many around after a while decided head on home level on hese is fine die pretty fast to melee solo some melee as a 54 ranger they dont hit to hard atleast the lower level ones in river

Could a 54 warrior solo these potamids with just band aids no BP yet.

I almost think you could. Potameids have very few hps and horrible atk but go for the maidens wildlings and guardians outside in the river. And get a mage to summon you some levi rings since pulling them is so much easier flying.

Im a druid lvl 49, me, a bard lvl 54 and another character lvl 51 went in water at the end of zone and aggroed 2 potamids. They cannot be rooted or stunned. We killed them but at one moment i was badly injured due to the effect of surprise. They are not to be taken lightly.
