Did a video guide recently on the camp with some of the strategies. Zed Sticklebush is a RARE spawn but I eventually got the mask. This is by far, one of the worst camps. Mobs were not hard to kill though. https://youtu.be/Um-4mnkTxgg
From what I can gather, leaving all the named up only affects the "west" spawn at the campfire. It can be any random named, but if they are up else where, it increases the odds that it will be Zed. As far as I can tell, his other PHs are his own and make no difference as they wont spawn other named. But its nice to know that your guaranteed a 50/50 shot at his west campfire spawn every 2 hours if you can get 3 of the 4 other named up and keep them alive. I currently have Reynold Blackguard perma mezzed for the last 15 hours or so. He spawned on the south side of the campfire, those appear to be the only poachers that wander off. My other two named have been standing there all night. Melee merc and audio triggers is def the way to go at this camp if you dont wanna sit here clearing.
This is the most accurate info so far, I took a ranger and killed all the poachers until a named spawned in the tent. Yranik Blackguard seems to spawn similar to Zed, but I did catch them both up once at the same time. At distance you can still kill the poachers in the tents even with the following named up. Elishia Blackguard & Reynold Blackguard in south tent, and Vaurien Sticklebush in the North Tent. Now I just kill the campfire and west tent, and go snipe the poachers in the other tents at max distance to not agro the 3 named that drop heads.
So far this camp is a PITA as no mask yet, but I finally got the scenerio that I believe gives me the max chance for Zed.. he has only spawned 3 times out of 11 hours camping and the mobs respawn every 10 minutes, so he is rare.
I went and camped this mo fo right after I did Halfling mask(20+ hours) This took me bout 5-8 hours. I tried both leaving nameds up and kill all. I dont know what was bettr tbh. What I think is better is kill all because while waiting for zed to spawn the other nameds will wander and either dispawn or they die from the animals that they attack.. Zed pop'd 3 times for me twice in Tent same spot both times. Then he spawned at the bondfire and dropped mask.
I was clearing poachers to get Zeb to spawn. I had just killed the last one and ran around to the campfire to wait for the next round and Zeb was there waiting for me. I had at least 6-7 minutes before the normal poachers were due to spawn again so that leads me to believe this particular spawn point west side of the campfire (and maybe others) are not on same spawn timer as generic poachers.
I guess it doesnt matter to me, I dont think I'll ever be back. :)
Walked in zone today, Zed was up at the fire, killed him and looted the mask for the pimpy rogue alt. Total time spent camping the mask about 45 seconds :)
Well, I can attest to the following.....keeping the other named up is working well. Zed spawns in one of three locations for me. 4th position by the campfire, mouth of "circus" tent by the water, and right side pole closest to water side of "circus" tent if facing in from water side. No pint in killing anything other than the 2 ph's in tent location and keeping campfire clear. Have been here 15 hours over 2 days, Zed has spawned 11 times....zero Burnoose drops. Reminiscent of my GB camp for my pally back in the day, very annoying.
Defineitly leave the named up. I spent a couple nights at this camp. the last night I decided to leave the named up. Not even a full 30mins later after clearing 2 spawns of all of the poachers Zed popped. Dropped the mask, and made my baby rogue very happy.
just got him to pop in about 45 min for a low level rogue of mine, i used the techniques leaving the named mobs up and it seemed to work
he popped at the campfire and had the item on him, it was the very first time zed made an appearance for me
my fricken rogue was 2 zones away, i was not concerned because i thought it would probably have a 30min rott timer, needless to say i was wrong 7min( and the corpse rotted right before i got their
I have been camping Zed for the mask for four days now. From 5 to 15 hours a day. Basically there are 19 spawn points that pop every respawn and one spawn point that is special at the west side of the fire. The special one does not pop every round in fact more like every 5-10 repops. And it may pop at an off timing from the others. I am not sure yet if it is completely random. The special spawn always spawns a named. Usually Reynold Blackguard. But sometimes Zed. So it will indeed increase the chances of Zed if you leave the nameds up unless they are in the special spawn point. Once Vauriel Sticklebush spawns in the Northern tent, you can ignore that tent, same with yranik in the south-western tent. If Reynold spawns at the fire in any spot aside from the special western spawn point leave him as well. Kill all nameds that spawn in the special point including Elishia Blackguard. Also I camped this with a 54 rogue, a 66 ranger and a 71 sk. The 54 could not single pull, and even the sk got agro from nameds at a much greater distance than trash mobs. So once you get Vauriel and Yranik in the tents, stay far away from those area's as they will agro on you through the tents at a good distance, even when they are grey. Pull from the far end of the big tent and range/spell pull the fire mobs. If you are 60 plus you caneasily single pull the mobs, even the named thus leaving the mobs you want left up in their positions. Just trying to help others and maybe save some painfully boring camping.
I camped a total of 6 hrs - 14 kills and I left 3 named up had a good number of Named pops over the time. Dropped mask when he spawned in the large tent.
i left the names up and got the mask in 6hours from the big tent pretty sure ------->http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q27/glenemarr/EQ000096.jpg helped alot other tent had 1 named up also
So far i have killed this guy 13 times...most ALL times have been from 2-2.5 hour respawns...
at kill #7 he spawned 4 times in 1.5 hours......at this point i havent done anything different, all the same killings
(update...as im writing this)....brb going to go kill Zed....
Bah, kill #14..he respawned 30mins since last kill, he dropped Boots and Head again..
anyways, I guess the fastest way i been killing this camp is to use Ward of Reprisal. im a lvl 75 Cleric and its a lvl 72 spell. Even when Zed is up i still pull the whole camp..(had more Zed's spawn like this so far) Once i pull the whole camp i out run them towards the river and cast WoR.. I kill them in less than a min.
As far as the .."leave the named up" part you guys are talking about. i have done that for 4 hours, and alot of other things.. So far it seems that he is just a random (different spawn points) spawn.. but mostly on a 2-2.5 hour repspawn timer..with some fast respawns built into the timer.
1) He spawns in the big tent in 3 different spots, that i saw myself.
2) He also spawns at the camp fire in 2 spots (when he dropped the Noose, he was at the camp fire...closest to the tent that spawns Reynolds. Now Reynolds also spawns at that camp fire.
I sure want this for my wife and i wont stop untill i get it.. i love her :)
Ill keep you updated on anything new /wave
*NEXT DAY AFTER I GOT NOOSE*
Anyhow all in all i killed him 18 times. only thing i saw different when i got my noose was that at the camp fire, there are 4 mobs that spawn... about 3 hours before #18 Zed spawned, there was only 3 mobs for the next 3 hours... SOOOOoo maybe a tell/tell sign??
Ok this camp is a major pain, the easyest way to get him to spawn is like was already stated, kill everything, when a named (that is not zed) pops, leave it there, pull around them and do not kill.
I had 4 named up, 2 in the back tent next to the fire, one in the smaller tent to left (facing fire) And one next to fire.
What this does is when you clear the poachers those names you have up cannot spawn again, so your odds of getting a zed spawn increase, I had tried this camp before and I finaly decided to try it this way, it was still a pain but once I started doing ti that way I got some Zeds and finaly got my rogue his Burnoose.
I've killed this guy 6 times already. All I got from him was his head all 6 times. I've only seen him spawn at the back of the longest tent once and at the fourth spawn point of the fire the rest of the 5 times. He's such an aggravating camp!!!!
Okay, he's definately not on a 2 hour timer as some have suggested previously. I had him spawn back to back for me, but after I followed the directions of leaving the named mobs up. Once I did this, I started have him pop all the time!
I've camped Jaggedpine on and off for months with my ranger trying to score one of those masks for my young rogue alt. About 10 ranger lvls later I still come back here for a few days of camping, like today: I can clear them out easily now, but only had one Zed spawn in 10 hrs (and that was right off the bat when I arrived). As stated in many earlier posts, Zed spawns by the fireside or within the "big" tent, in random fashion. Let's hope the gods of Norrath smile down upon you when you give it your shot. =) I'm going to have to take a break soon.
[EDIT:] ROFL, I log off for two minutes so an alt can put some clarity pots in shared bank for my ranger, and when I log back, Zed's up in the fourth spot at the fire. I kill him and there's my burnoose of the half-breed. Sometimes I really think They do this on purpose to drive players crazy. =P
As of 03/27/06. Did the camp for about 2 hours. I just killed everything at the firecamp and inside the tent. Saw 2 named at the firecamp and Zed finally spawned in the big tent with 6 spawns inside. Got mine on first kill, just big luck i guess.
Btw the named at the firecamp seems to depop... one spawned while i was looking for someone to join me in a raid to avoid TLC and despawned shortly after (~10 mins).
i thought this too, i was running my rogue over incase he had burnose and when i looked again he was gone, but i still had him targeted. he had wandered off and started to attack the wildlife and almost got him self killed. he didnt drop it this time but it seems any poacher at the fire will roam after a while
