Slow and Cripple land easily on him.
Magic, Fire, Cold land easily.
Poison and Disease are fully resisted.

Long long fight for one group. Seems to have high AC as our melee could not hit him hard. Know your slow's duration and keep re-slowing; don't ever let that wear off ;)

Well we took him with a little over 2 groups. Can you say slow, suck his mana, and beat the **** out of him. He charmed two of the tanks. First one no problem because he took his 3 junk buffs off when the fight started and recant magic took care of the charm. Second one well sorry bro no more buffs for you. I am glad I left pillage enchantment up. He does take about 40 minutes to kill and we had a lot of DPS (2 65 wizards). No one seemed to have trouble landing any spells on him. I even thru in a couple of my chantie nukes. He has some made regen and hpts I would have to say a lot more than 30khp. When you kill him you will be KOS to him and his guards.

Kill him twice with one group of Warrior, Druid, Shaman, Enchanter, Cleric and SK, all 65. Took us about an hour the first time and 45 min the second. Our Warrior charge in without weapons on and go defensive cos he WILL charm you after he tash you. The Enchanter started with tash and then immediately Recant Magic on him 2 times to cancel his buffs. After that, the Enchanter re-tash and followed by Torment of Scio while the Shaman malo and slow. Once slowed he is not hard at all. Our cleric was constantly at 60 mana (on horse) throughout the fight and he could even summon his hammer pet on the mob throughout the fight. Once the important debuffs (Tash, Malos, Slow, Sico, Cripple) were on, our SK, Shaman, Enchanter and Druid summon pets and send them in (Enchanter had AA to control pet like a mage). Enchanter proceed to speed pets and we fight him by the window which was a good location cos it will not agro any mobs outside and it kept him pinned there. It is important to keep Slow and Torment of Scio (suck 45 mana per tick)on him cos he does hit hard and Scio will prevent him from mana regen so he cannot cast charm again. It was a long fight but fun. Stack as many DoTs as you can on him to reduce his regen. Casters should go on their horses after fight begin and the situation is in control. Don't overnuke or he will get angry at you and pound you for 500 plus and casters can't really take much pounding. He always drops the robe. My chanter and another chanter in my guild now wears the 100 cha robe. :)

Oh yes, we only speed our tanks and equip our weapons after we are sure he will not charm again cos we do not want our Ogre warrior attacking our Cleric with his SoD and BoC with haste. :)

Killed him with 7 people: 65 Mage, 62 Mage, 65 Enchanter, 65 Cleric, 62 Necromancer, 58 Druid, and 61 Paladin (me).

Sent in pets. Enchanter slowed. Cleric cast Mark of Righteousness (to negate his Damage Shield). Then I went in and tanked. He's undead so was easy for me to keep aggro.

We got him pushed up in a window and I kept the pets behind him. The windows have a nice indentation so once he was up there the pets could not push him anywhere else. I stayed in front and this allowed pets to attack from the rear. Though we used air pets instead of backstabbing water pets, the necro pet got some nice backstabs in.

It's a long fight (40min or so) but fun. I think the fewer tanks you have the better. When we tried him with just pets, he moved from pet to pet a lot. With me in there tanking he stayed on me almost 100percent of the time (only if I was feared would he hit a pet). I've heard to that with multiple tanks he will move from tank to tank at times. Having one tank just makes it easier on the cleric.

He really likes to tash so make sure someone keeps curing poison on the tank to keep the tank from getting charmed.

Since it's a long fight, he has to be slowed several times. MAKE SURE SLOW DOES NOT WEAR OFF. He was hitting me for up to 575 so if slow wears off tanks drop pretty fast. We had no problem with the Enchanter getting aggro from me by landing slows every couple of minutes.

Cleric ended the fight with 30mana (used 2 mod rods), Druid ended with 15mana. Mages were oom from nuking. I had full mana (no surprise there since we didn't need group heals). Enchanter was doing fine for mana.

He's a vampire so he has a 200hp suck blood proc that is a lifetap as well.

All in all, it's a fun fight and well worth doing for that robe. Just remember that you will be instantly KoS to his guards (though you improve your faction with all the other guards).

Of course as I was starting the quest I saw spam of him being killed...Someone told me he was spawnable, so I started quest over again...Nadda...tried once more today...still no Nathyn...guess I'll just wait for him to spawn.

I don't know about that immediate spawn of him when you turn in the list of merchants.

I just turned it in and no Nathyn. Plus, if you could spawn him like that people would just spawn him over and over and over.

It's not hard at all to get to the point where you turn in the merchant list. Would take a druid about 30 minutes if that.

I apologize if this is a stupid question =)

IF he does charm you,,,,, does the Charm effect show up in your buff effect slot? Are you charmed the entire time or if it shows up in the buff slot does it blink and dissappear like other mob effects on a PC???

Charm does fade, i dont remember if it has a counter on it, but if you go to 3rd person you will see a LD mark over your head, NTM you will start hitting your friends.

Anyone know if it is possible to fix you're faction if you're a complete moron and kill him without doing shield turn in first?

Killing Katta Guards also raises faction with Nathan. Actually, if you go the "faction" section of this site it gives ya some good pointers on fixing most every faction in the game.

Kill Vampyre's in Tenebrous Mountains. They Raise faction with Nathyn. Kinda odd he helped Valdanov but by killing Valdanov's creations it makes him happy. Must've been a bad falling out.

I haven't fought him, but He is part of the turn in for Loyalist Shield of Honor, he spawns after your return the note to Phenic from Shadowhaven. At this point if your goal is to kill him and get the robe. Goto his house and rip him a new one. Can do as many times as need probably due to the fact he is Spawnable, but the ones wanting the Shield better get past him before killing him due to he has his own faction and nothing is worse than missing out on the 50ac 15str 15wis 75hp back/secondary plate class item.

*edit* The location is approx 400, -750 that house is his house. Top floor behind the door.

You don't need a loc. When at the bank, go up the cliff path. After you are at the very top of the path, go straight and on your left you will see a large mansion. You'll know it's his mansion if you see guards and sonic wolves outside the manor considering you differentely then the normal Validus Custodus guard. Go into the the mansion and find your way to the top. He's in a large study standing next to a chair and desk. He is in fact undead and is not Tsaph Katta. Even though he does answer to "Hail, Tsaph Katta" he does also answer to Phenic, Sameem, and whatever other name you can think of. If anythig he is a member of the Coterie of the Eternal Night, this explains why Valdanov Zevfeer was allowed inside his house while experimenting on vampyres and himself. Also, to correct a faction quest about him (I have sent emails and it still has not been corrected) the Pyrrhotite Sample quest with the dwarf in Katta does not raise faction with Nathyn, it lowers it. I did this quest multiple times, going from Apprehensive to Amiable with the Validus Custodus and went from Apprehensive to Dubious with Nathyn and his guards.

I am soooo tired of people neglecting Necros!By the time an Enchanter reaches this level to take down Nathyn their Cha will already be near max..Necros on the otherhand have many neg charisma items assaulting or frail bodies and this Robe would be a perfect fit to negate all those minuses..remember necros are masters at charming the undead..remember too that most successful raids have a practioner of the dark arts in the background doing his thing ))

Oh BTW the one post above here say something about four-five faction hits and the other one says that Nathyn is the only faction hit you take.....Well your both kinda right. Nathyn Illuminoius is the only negative faction hit.
The others are all positive....Think it was like seru...hand of seru and even the ever popular coterie faction all positive......soooo Nathyn is the only negative faction you need to worry about.

We just took Nathyn down on Rodcet Nife. Not a really hard fight but a VERY long fight.
Undead spells landed about everytime for full damge tho. Really nice cloak for our enchanter. Gratz Channi.

He's either undead or they messed him up, i saw a raid on him the other day and a paladin proced the 250dmg DD on him( undead one ). Plus, this guy is an enchanter and doubles for 575

Guild just took this guy down. 28 of us 55+ this guy took roughly 15 minutes. So have clerics rdy to heal for a while and you should be ok.

anyone got to ally with this guy? ive been hunting guards for a few weeks, and get a positive faction hit for killing each. should be ally soon enough. ive heard he is a part of some quests, but im wondering if ally faction will prompt him to give his "own" quest.

Hi Guys..
We droped this guy last night, had about 12 or 13 ppl 55+... took us about 40min to drop this mother.. I think he hit for 575 highest... not saying it is the highest though... Dropped "Robe of Dark Beguilement" 18AC STR+15 INT+15 and yes CHAR+100.

Well there are some things here not quite right and I don't have all the answers, but here's what I saw. Group about 20 level 59-60 2 tanks 2 rogues 2 monks, bout 6 clerics 4 enchanters couple mis druids, shaman etc. Took 12 minutes to take him down. No deaths. He hit max for 575, but maybe he has a crit higher, not sure. I didn't see it. Spawn time greater than 14 hours, my guild had planned to kill him the next day, I was just there camping when the other guild showed to kill him. Asked if I could watch, no one said no, so I did.

Myth-only bane weapons can kill him. Wrong
Myth-30 minute spawn. yeah right with that robe, not likely.
Myth-Robe is not real. I saw it, it's real.
Kill him with 15 people, maybe, if all level 55+ not 40's for sure.

Need to seive him is right, I did see him charm a couple people.
Need Complete Heal tanks absolutely, he quads for 575 each in one round, even high hitpoint tank goes down fast if not.

One day, not today, but one day I WILL take him down.

Only hit you get is to his own faction "Nathyn Illuminious." Most who kill him go right to kos. His guards don't see invis though.

Wrong, my guild just took this guy down. You get like four or five faction hits. Didn't get a screen shot of it, but it's definately not just his.

There are several faction hits, though only negative one is Nath's himself. My guild took him out last night, Coterie goes up, Validous Custodous Goes up, Hand of Seru goes up and Heart as well I believe.
