Killed him tonight for the last piece of the Falinkan quest. Started out with a full group average about 58, had some troubles getting to him; set off the beetle trap in the tunnels once, rogue lost invis and aggroed about 6 rats another time, and then had 3 of the entropy serpents aggro us when we got ready to try and pull. By the time we were actually ready to pull Vilefang there were 5 of us; me (57 necro), 55 SK, 58 druid, 57 rogue and 65 cleric. Vilefang himself went down really easy.
The real danger getting to him is at the first intersection in the tunnels. There's a trap right around there that spawns a bunch of swarming beetles; if you trigger it you have the beetles and every rat within sight on your group. Right before the intersection there is a ledge on the left wall; stay on it. Stand at the end of the ledge and aim for the tunnel going to the right (you should have lev on, you'll want DMF for Vilefang anyway so no excuse for not having lev). Anyway if you just run from the ledge across into the tunnel branch you should stay high enough to go over the trap without triggering it. From there just stay to the right, when you reach the pool where Vilefang is run across to the room behind the waterfall. We killed the named rat right at the edge and kept the next closest one pacified.
Watch the entropy serpents, they have a fairly large aggro radius. The 65 cleric was going to pacify to single Vilefang, but by the time he could get ir to pacify the entropy serpent would be aggroed on him.
I ran into a pickup group while on my way to him and they agreed to help. We fought our way down from the courtyard to the lake. I walked forward to try and pull Vile and he just aggroed before I even put my toe in the water, so that was an easy pull. Went down ok but I'm glad it wasn't just me (63 nec) and the 57 sham I had with me, he wasn't as easy as that.
I ventured down to Vilefang's lair to see if he was up, and with the intention of pulling him out of the rat tunnels using invulnerability spells. I had read somewhere that he doesn't return to spawn once pulled, so I was going to eat a death and save a guild group from having to go down the tunnel.
Anyway, I swam into his pool (he doesn't see invis), and found a location underwater where I wouldn't aggro any other mobs, and decided at that point to attempt a solo instead of pulling him. I was fully raid buffed with virtue, and I had manaskin on to eat some damage. I also had gear which got me to around 160 PR with DMF. I then cast and buffed a 61 necro pet, and medded to full.
After that, I pulled him with Saryn's Kiss, and frantically began to dot and lifetap for all I was worth. I think I snuck in Funeral Pyre, and after that it was all Touch of Mujaki's. My pet took a pretty good beating, so I helped him with some hitpoint transfers along the way. I managed to resist most, if not all of the snake's AoE poison spells.
We pretty much shared the damage, and eventually I got to the point where I couldn't heal him and keep my health up. My pet died, and then I died when Vilefang was around 10% life. I had some mana left, but I was unable to get off enough lifetaps to keep up.
If I had tried this a few more times, I think I could eventually have beaten him. Instead, a few of my guildmates were kind enough to CoH down after I lead a mage there, and the fight was easily won, even without slow.
The point of all this is that I think necros and probably shamans could solo him given the right conditions. I hadn't read of anyone trying him solo, so I thought I would provide a frame of reference. One of those two classes and any other class *should* guarantee a victory, at least for level 60+ players.
My group just killed him, was suprised at how easy he was. We had a 61 necro, 62 sk, 58 sk, 59 chanter, 62 druid, and 56 war. He blinded the two sks and I just kept wacking it, was surprised at how quickly his hps dropped. We killed him in about 1 min with no problem.
even 24 hour spawn, is up when server comes up too. Just killed him an hour ago with 2 people, me 64 necro and a 65 shaman, i tanked while the shaman slowed, resisted every single Vilefang proc with 234 pr and then once slowed, pet tanked till dead. I swear to god 61 necro pet did not need 1 heal. one of those fights that you worry about but it's so pathetic you laugh in the end.
to get to him, go to the rat cave enterance, go down, take a right then go straight, you go right to his puddle. stay lev'd and a bit above the ground to avoid the stupid traps if you can. once you get to the puddle, run down and to the left, you'll see dragon bones, set up there. pulled him with a dispell and he came solo for me. and didn't get one add the entire fight.
To get to him, go to ent of rat cave then go back a little bit and climb up the wall as high as u can. Then hug the wall down, and you wont trigger the traps. Once all the way down the ramp, just go straight until you get to the lake. I would recommend fighting him on the the other side, theres 3 rats there that can be easily killed, their respawn is about 15 mins or so, they repopped during our vilefang fight. Took him down+1 rat with 65druid 65necro 60monk, monk needed 1 heal as did pet, dropped fang and wristband. Hit for 230max i believe against me, less vs monk.Watch out for dispell trap tho, its on top of the 2 rats right at waterfall, so pull back a little bit more, by the stationary single there and you should be fine, and u can run over top of it, just dont sit on it or you'll get dispelled, which is annoying
Killed him tonight with 5 people; monk(60), enchanter(58), Druid(57), warrior(57) and a cleric(54). He was surprisingly easy, I believe the cleric had to heal twice, but never complete heal. We all had our poison resists up, due to hearing he had a nasty poison dot. Casters beware because he will summon, he summoned me a few times but resisted all his spells. I'm not sure on spawn time, I go to the Necropolis often and have seen him quite a few times. He does not seem to be very rare.
If anyone has any info about this guy, would the plz post it. Ie...spawn time, type of fighter he is, how many hp he has, what he hits for.....plz any information would be of much help
Im not sure what class he is, but he is really a weak lvl 60. We had about 20 people and no one died and we had adds to go along with it. He hits for like 280 or something, he hit me once and i FD'd (was puller) but i know for a fact he doesnt hit over 300dmg. He proly has about 30khp maybe, we had a lot of mid and low 50 melee and he still went down within about 2 min or so, and he casts a lot, i never really found out what spells but i kept seeing him cast, and he has "Deadly Poison" proc which is pretty strong, 1k dot probably (100 initial dmg) on the spawn time no clue. i know that was a crappy post but i think i answered everything, if not lemme know =P
Did him tonight with one group. Single pull, only suprise was that at the very begining he blinded for a random amount of time only once though. Towards the end we had an add but it was easily mezed and we got rid of it after the fight. Dropped the piercer and chipped fang. Had this group: 60cleric 60ranger 60pally 60chanter 58rogue 59warrior
Hope this helps GL.
Oh yeah he was in the pool before the waterfall where zland is behind. pally single pulled.
Yeah, we went to DN again after a long night in SG and to our suprise, Vilefang was sitting at the area you take to go down to rats and such... no clue how or why but we took advantage of that and killed him. This time we had a 60 monk, 55 cleric, 57 enchanter, 56 shaman, and a 60 necro.. was an easy kill actually, just need a shaman.
