Lifetap
# Mar 24 2003 at 12:27 AM Rating: Decent
Took him out last night on Antonius Bayle. Hits for 500+ but was slowed, didnt resist any of my spells apart from snare. He lifetaps for 1500 about once every 3mins. Our MT 63 Pally went down and I took agro, 2 mins later I also went down ( 58 SK ) and a 57 War took over, as he fell our Pally was back into the fight and shortly after I joined too. A quick HT later and I dealt the killing blow =)
He dropped 2 Grotesque Girdle's.

I have not seen this drop, but I believe that it may be for a new fletching recipe for some arrow. The Recipe is gained from one of the prisoners in Plane of Justice and may not be real but it calls for:

claw of a black drake, feathers from a spiroc lord, dracolich bone

If you could post more info about the bone, it would be helpful. Such as if it is No Drop, would be a great help in uncovering the mystery here. =)

Took him down last night on MT. I would estimate he has 60-70k HP. We got him aggro;d on a pull the first time ( Not good ), so we had a 45 min or so CR. Second time, we took him down in about 4 min. He hits hard, 600 max and normal is about 440 ( with 936ac). Dropped 2 rings, thats all. he is not Undead, they dont work and Casters can nuke from ANYWHERE. Hope this helps =)

This Guy is the 2nd hardest in fear, golems are easy compared to this guy. Hes got a ton of HP and took us about 5 min or more to kill him. He was not pulled intetionaly. We where able to kill him with 5 groups with adds and we were unable to slow due to shamans low on mana. Also the secret to any Dragon is to keep your main tank alive, Nukem at low HP as not to spread agro. Sitting to gain agro dont work anymore I dont think, I was medding during the fight, also when it did work when you did sit its basicly like having no AC at all. Also I saw swiching tanks when the shield wears down, that could be very dangerous for the clerics if its even posible without the main dieing.

I disagree about this guy being harder than the death touching golems. Killed him before with 25 people or so (avg lvl 55) and only lost one wizard and our main tank (who died when Draco was at about 5% life). Compare that to the mess DTing mobs create, I'd much rather fight this guy.

Ok, now i have never fought dracolich so please dont nuke me with flames with what i am about to ask hehe. Is it Possable to have a 60 caster fear him or is he just immune to fear spells. I am assumming that since he is a resident of the plane of here he is immune but has anyone ever tried? Just a thought, it would be funny if it worked.

Most every mob over level 55 is immune to fear. and named like this are always immune since fear would make the encounter far too easy. Hell, if fear could land a necro and ench could probably duo it...take a long time, but doable.

fear kiting is fun in fear.

Last night Nocturnal Sun hosted an open raid (great job, btw) to Fear. Had a near perferct break-in with 36 people. After about 2 hours we started to get ready to take out Draco, when guess who showed up early to the party! All clerics camped and monks FD. No prob. Did CR ofr 45 minutes or so and try again.

The second time we got buffed up, faced the LD monster a couple of times, but finally pulled him. Per all of these previous posts MT kept agro, but died. ST was unable to keep agro so it was just a matter of time. Clerics were called to camp, monks FD and I went into battle with this evil creature after I was Oom. I actually hit him a few times with my club. hehe.

Allright, 3rd time is a charm right? We got some additional help of 6 people from Praximus. Again, all buff up and pull. We had 7 groups this time. MT did a great job, lost agro a couple of times, but got it back after others died. Casters started nuking at 50%. YOU HAVE TO BE UNDERNEATH HIS BELLY TO LAND NUKES! FIRE BASE WORK. I am a 51 Dru and was landing starfire (662dmg) every single time for full damage.

MT went down when Draco was at about 20% health. No worries. We continued to pound and nuke and he finally went down. He dropped the shield and ring! woot.

It was 2am my time, so I logged after that.

Heyas, I play a lvl 52 DE mage on terris thule and last night my guild, reavers of Fate and Darkdefiance teamed up to clear out PoF. Well we cleared out all the normal mobs very fast so we decided to take this guy. With our two guilds together we had 54 people with a good bit of epics and 25 or above lvl 55. We got him singled pulled and started beating on him, Well letas say it was not pretty. Our malo was resisted alot and almost all the casters magic was resisted. The only nukes that weren't resisted was fire but to get this off you had to be in melee range for it to work. Sadly all our casters got maybe one nuke in before getting beat to death or getting nuked themselves. After about 5 minutes we told our clerics to camp since we had most of our main tanks dead. All in all we got two clerics camped and 50 others dead. We only got that big **** to about 30% health so all of you reading these peoples post about only taking 18 or 20 people and killing him easy and crap they are lying. Unles your in a guild with all 60's I wouldn't try this bad boy without no les than 50 people.

Here's a strategy. Have the main tank grouped w/ a bard. After he pulls have the bard DA, and have the MT sit(sitting=mad aggro). after about 20 secs of sitting w/ DA, have the rest start to melee and cast. Just remember that the MT should stay seated, and DA should be played the whole time

that my friend is called zerging a mob that has been set up to kill raids that try and zerg him.

So before branding people liars and what not maybe try and refine your tatics.

Draco is a pos mob that can be easily done with 20 people in the level range of 55-60.

The lowest amount of people ive taken him out with is 18 people and we only lost one person, a paladin that gained aggro over MT/MA and learnt her lesson in doing so.

This is a strategy problem. You won't kill him at 80 if you try to zerg him (hit for 600, lifetap 1500).
Have a MT warrior under defensive chain healed/runed, use the proximity aggro (non MT stay as far as possible, MT as close as possible).
I think dracoliche was killed by the uber guild of my server with less than 18 players, we killed it twice at about 35 (with a few casualties due to people aggroing over MT).

Trying to zerg Draco will get you killed. The above two posters are essentially correct on the tactics. My guild has done this mob several times with around 30 people. We use a lvl 60 epic warrior with defensive disc on as the main tank, and a 3 cleric complete heal chain to keep him alive till Draco is slowed. We don't bother with runes, though runing couldn't hurt. One thing not mentioned above is that Draco can be SLOWED. Last two times we've fought him our lvl 60 shaman has been able to slow him at around 90% health. After slow sticks the fight becomes trivial. Heck an enchanter could probably tank him. I'm the proud owner of the Fearsome Shield and Grotesque Girdle both.

Yup you are so correct, it was an strategy error on their side. You need to have the MA (level 60) pop up his defensive disc, and let him tank for till the disc wears of, then move in SA, let him take over agro (level 60), have chanters chain rune MA, SA when the are tanking, when enough agro is build up move in the rest of the possy to the rear of Draco and beat the living daylights out of him. When Draco is past 50% health it will be time for some caster action, have an 60 mage cast Mala on Draco, and then nuke it with all you got till it's dead (be on the safe side start you're nuking at 30%, and use lures for that matter, do not use the extreme high dmg ones).

Hehe, I noticed you said use a 60 mage with MALA to debuff him. On the raids Ive been on, we usually have members from 3-6 different guild with very few level 60's ( thankfully an enchanter with KEI was among them ). Since MALA can be bought for less than 1k easy in the Bazaar now on Luclin ( take your pick from ateast 10 copies of it, I even got a copy for my GL for just 125pp ), and MALO *IF* its for sale is 60kpp+, mages usually do the debuffing on the raids Ive been on. Enchanters usually dont Tash, as If they get aggro with their crap AC/HP they are dead very quick, which means crowd control just went out the window=major CR's for all. Shamans job is to try to land Turgurs or Plague of Insects asap ( and buff when possible/required ), and I can tell you that gets me summoned quite a bit, but with my own buffs/gear/Aegolism I can take the hits till the mobs taunted. I guess all 60 guilds dont have this problem, but the "invitational"raids Ive been on , most mages debuff and the shaman slow, and enchanters do crowd control/mana buffs. Last PoF raid I went on we had 7 full groups with only ONE mage and ONE shaman ( my GL and me ) both level 55, and things worked quite nicely, with him doing Malosi and me Turgurs. Dracholiche is bad *** but not an "uber" mob by any standard, I'm sure tactics change quite a bit for upper level encounters and top level guilds, but thats not 80-90% of the raids to PoF, PoH. Ive read people say that you can "just wear BD gear for resists". LOL!! BD gear has **** stats other than resists, and the shawl Draco drops for example easily replaces 3-4 BD pieces, where I could pack in major AC / HP increases. Im sure if he's slowed 70-75% hes pretty gimp, and to say that only class XXX should get a certain item ( unless its only for only class and no-drop or for an epic ) is weak. Yeah the puller is very important, but if he was SOO good then we would never need enchanters as we ( the groups ) would only have to fight one mob at a time. Many mobs you have to get into range to cast on so wizards, mages, shamans, and many other classes need resist gear. Example--Wizard gets hit with AoE and dies--no manaburn/quick damage spells. Mage dies--no debuffs so no ones spells stick worth squat. Shaman dies--mob ( now unslowed ) eats thru your raid party and total wipeout ensues. This is what is more than likely to happen on pick up raids or raids with guilds who may not even have but one or 2 level 60--the rest being low to mid 50. So the main puller isnt the most important person in all upper end raids ( even ones that can do Draco ), in this case it was the enchanters, follwed by pretty much everyone else equally.

You must be in a crap guild then dude, hell.. in my guild it is straight need before greed, and we are all 50+, I hardly even bother with selling items man, All my good drops that I cannot use I give away, including many items that sell for mulitple thousands of pp, but the thing is, I get the exact same in reward....

I cannot see why you would take this away from someone else who could actually use it just so you could make some cash.

Our guild (managed 18 from in guild) and some friends went after this fella last night. Total of 7 groups 47+, but only about 6 55+. The first pull was... odd. Raid leader didn't authorize it, nobody will fess up as to who did it, but ended up pulling Dracolich and Fright both. Of course, we camped out clerics and had a wipeout. We were so upset with Draco that we tried again, however only 6 groups stayed. This time we were buffed up first, and had the main buffed with rune as well. We had draco down under 25% when the main fell, and the clerics started to go oom. Draco had 20% left. Fortunately the oom clerics camped out for the rezzes. Soooo close. One wonders what would have happened if either the 7th group had stayed, or the clerics had been fed more mana.

Casters were finding it almost impossible to land any damage, even belly casting. Anyone have any further ideas how to take this thing with the minimum strength raid group?
RE: Almost....
# Oct 18 2001 at 12:11 AM Rating: Decent
I was on my first Fear raid with a prospective guild im trying to get into when we buffed up for Dracho. They told all casters to wait for the Main Assist to call out for us to begin nuking. I of course asked what nukes to use being my first Dracho fight. They told me to use Fire spells. So, I loaded the 49th Level Druid spell Starfire (650dmg) It was resisted at first...but then I remembered that you must be in Melee range of him. So i stepped in close (hesitantly) and began nuking again. After the move in, every one of my Starfire's hit for full damage. I dont know if he was debuffed or what, but I did not have any problems with the Fire based spell. Hope this helps.
