Started a baby Dwarf Warrior and was running around ButcherBlock when I say this guy laying on the ground. He is between the entrance to Kaladim and the Waterfront along the wall.
Hail him. He ask for coin but you want to give him a rusty weapon. He fought along side me and stayed with me until I camped.
Sometimes it is good to go back to the old zone and play when you get tired of Crescent and Gloomingdeep.

This halfling near the docks begs you for items and money. Giving something to him, or even just hailing him, causes him to become like an enchanter pet following you around and not being able to kill it.
You say, 'Hail, a greedy beggar'
A greedy beggar says, 'Hello there, _____. I don't suppose you can spare some coins? I'm just a poor halfling that is far away from home. I can't afford anything to eat or drink. Anything you can offer me will be of help.'
As with all charm spells, any invisibility spell cast on you will break the charm and make him attack you.

Yeah, this guy is fun. I added a pic where he is equipped with a spectral sword and armor. Ran around the zone and nothing seemed to touch him.

i just met him when i arrived from freeport he considered me amiably i gave him a fish he helped me so i gave him a sword he used it to help me then he saved my live with it anyone who meet him plz give him stuff i recommend armor and weapons >:)newbs gie him stuff he is awesome and is a livesaver

After all the years of playing EQ i have never noticed this before and no one has ever posted it, HE HAS FINALLY GOT A PURPOSE, its not great but i just noticed this when i gave the little guy some ale and yes he followed me around for abit, but before though i noticed i had around 50 copper on me then when he started following me it was gone so after trying to kill him which failed i thought i would test something else........... like selling loot to a merchant and hey prestow his purpose hit me, He changes money for you so if you have 10 copper he takes it and turns it into 1 silver if you have 10 silver it becomes 1 gold etc... :D. The lil guy not so annoying after all.

didn't give this guy crap. Hailed him and then he started following me. Couldn't get rid of him until i zoned. when i zoned pet, disappeared.

Last nigth i was in bb heading too oot and i hailed thsi guy and so he went blah blah blah... I tried to give him copper btu eh "had no need" so i looked again and it said eh was hungry and thirsty lol, so i agve him a foarged pod of water adn he would not stop followign em around.

I gave this guy 5 copper, he said he didn't needed it and handed it back, but all of my other money was gone, 90+ plat, etc, and killing him didn't get it back. So... feel free to kill him nine or ten times for me.
Turns out this was a game glitch on not actually the begger. None the less... feel free to kill him nine or ten times. :D

The little beggar is really, really annoying.. I gave him a few copper and, of course, he began following me. I was off to Freeport with some friends, so one of them decided to cast a spell on him. He yelled for the guards and attacked me. He was green. So I took him out easily with a root and a random nuke spell. Bad-ish faction.. You don't become KOS so that's kewl.

I got bored while looking for Walnan to complete a step in my epic quest and I got the following faction hits when I killed off the greedy begger. If he didn't have any faction beforehand, he does now.

Wondered about this bozo, so I gave him a copper (cause I'm Cheap:) ) anyway he started following me all over, could ditch the little begger (hmm, must be where that expression comes from) As far as being a good pet, I was standing near ocean and docks and as usual 2 aqua goblins popped out of the water, This guy hit one for maybe 10 points then went screaming "gaurds, guards help!"
I thought it was pretty funny, but it got rid of him:) I would rather use a basilisk as a pet anyway. at least in BB.

While waiting for spawn to mage epic here had som fun and had druid friend pet him. well was then able to give him summoned plate amor and sheild and sword. lol hopefull so that a newbie could use him as a pet later on. well then had druid zone and the begger ran off to where we never found out but cool idea for a low level character to use him for assiting in leveling to 15 or so.

I had seen this guy many times before, just sitting there begging people, then i wondered what he would do if i actually gave him something. So he did his little "I'm just a poor dumb halfling" speach and so i gave him all my copper pieces. So then he followed me around and took some damage and made some hits. He wasn't a great help, and not that i needed him cuz i was twinked anyway, and he was rather slow, couldn't keep up much. But every once and awhile i'd just let him have a little fun and kill a decaying skellie or a goblin by hiself, just for entertainment. But it is kinda cool that a warrior like myself could have a pet.

ive tryed this once on my ranger a long time ago but i deleted that ranger so when i still had him he was blue mabye green cant remember but i hailed him he started following me the guards dont kill him so while running from him i stoped and casted invis he started hiting me i killed him but got bad faction with the tasty halflings.
what would happen if he beccame a bst pet? then the bst buffed his lv up a bit? would be hella funny seeing a greeder begger quading for 50+.

i gave this guy a copper, and he kept following me around. i was really annoyed with him, and kept trying to kill him, even yelling at him to see if he had a convo trigger like "go away" to make him leave. but then i was attacked by three of those bandits, rondo and pegleg and the women, and they were tearing me up. the little guy ran in, and swung is torch around, and the bandits layed into him, and i just managed to run to a nearby guard at like 5 health, and he was butchered...he saved my life, i was bound all the way back in qeynos, and about 5 seconds before that i had been cursing his very name.... i feel so guilty now! twink this guy if you see him, he diserves it!

one day i was going to see if anyone could sow me because i was heading to the dwarf place then the little beggar came he started asking me for money (i had none) so i thought if i gave him a weapon he would leave me alone or reward me with something be he didnt!! i gave him a fine steel long sword and a shield and he still didnt so i tryed to ignore him and a oger jumped me he was red to me be it just started attacking it i was supryized so i let him kill it and I GOT EXP it filled me up 4 1/2 buds and i coned the beggar and he was red to me and i figured out that hes a pet once you give him something!!

Interesting using him as a pet he'd be good bait for the crazed gobos. I don't know if I could stand the chatter though.
I wonder if I could drag him into the water and drown him, maybe sick a shark on him. I was SOWed and ran from him and left him wandering on the dock but I wish I could nuke the anoying little bugger.

I was fighting with my lvl 2 dwarf rogue and I saw greedy begger hailed him and he folowed me around and hit for 55 max but I soloed dwarf skellies at spires they could only hit me once with begger as pet. he conned light blue to a 60. I think a 50 plus beastlord buffed him then logged becaause he retturns to spawn point after owner of him logs. if a high beast lord is in zone ask him to buff greedy begger. went from 2 to 20 after skellies I moved to enraged gobies
