I am a level 5 and came across one. I had a hp buff. It was red and i killed it. i had about one fifth of a bubble. I am now level 6. so if u see me on thoulxe give me a tell im in Black Burrow Ü Quilian Ü
I was a lvl 5 shm when i came across this guy. What I did was pulled him some what close to the guards at the cave and started owning him. A lot of people probably thought i was a warrior. I dont think this was over conned, the reason being he almost whooped my *** if it werent for people healing me. ( but i did own him ) lol.
i am a lvl 5 shaman can i kill anu of these guys with all my buffs on expext snake skin? and what if i cast drowsy? sould i cast spells r save them for healing?
One thing about the composer and the Lyricist, they con higher than they actually are. The soloist con's about right from what I experienced through 29 levels of Barbarianism. I'll never forget the first time I killed one, the composer. I was a level 8 Shaman, and I decided not to run from the yellow con baddie, I beat the crud out of him. So, the next one I seen, the soloist, I thought I'd be tough again and got wasted in a hurry. These guys truly are a new Barbs nightmare incarnate. They spawn all the time and basically roam a broad range of everfrost till they find someone to kill, or till someone kills them.
I have to agree with the person above, the composer, lyrcist, and soloist are not the same levels. I took the composer pretty early on but the rest, ouch till a few levels later
All three conned red to me at level 8 but blue at level 13. The Vengeful Composer drops page 74...the Vengeful Lyricist drops page 75...and the Vengeful Soloist drops page 76. The Soloist hits the hardest of the 3 but only brought me down 1 bubble with banded armor on. Once you have all 3 pages...go to Halas and at the gate take the right fork. The first building on the right is a bar and inside is a human female named Thadres Thyme. Turn all 3 pages into her and you will get exp and NO FACTIONS HITS. Then she'll give you back the complete(?) book of drink recipes. DO NOT LOG before doing this as the pages will disappear and you'll have to start all over again. I don't know if this is the end of the quest tho.
My 11 shaman killed it when it conned even and I was using piercing with a rusty shortened spear and my piercing skill was 2, yet I killed it and had 4/5 bubs of life left.
I bore witness to a lvl 5 warrior pummel one of these things that conned red !! i wouldn't have believed it if i hadnt been watching over my friend's shoulder when he did it.
I took this one down as a level 5 warrior. It conned red to me, and I started to run, but I decided to stay and see if I could do any damage and ended up taking it down with 3 bubs of health left. Major Over con!
It's hard to imagine something more useless than a monster with the fighting skills of a bard that doesn't use any songs. No wonder people take these things out long before they should be able to.
The no-rent feature is no longer in effect. Don't know if it was a glitch or what, but I KNOW I didn't kill all 3 on the same log. Soloist is much nastier than lyricist who is nastier than composer. I killed a composer without help (7 lvl shaman) and only lost 1/2 bubble health. Continuing on my way, I encountered a soloist who proceeded to kick my tail all the way to the guard by bb who will not help you. Needless to say, I soon had to do another corpse retrieval. All have conned red to me.
I am currently (using EQW) farming HQ bear pelts in Halas and these turds keep pouncing on me, as a 32 level Cleric I pop them once and they shatter. So I thought I would see what the pages (74 & 75) are for. At this moment they are Lore, No Drop & No Rent. Havent finished the quest yet but each of these guys have about 200hp.
Besides the Vengeful Lyricist, there is a Vengeful Composer and a Vengeful Soloist. Each drops a page of a diary that Thadres in Halas wants back. I've never actually completed the quest, since the pages are no-rent.
