Little bit of info from logs (56 monk tank; 380ac): Incoming DPS: ~47 Max hit: ~165 HP: ~16.5k Highly MR; no slows. A couple of Azaraks path over the island and agro; blade storms and Djinn assist them. Have been told that you can agro Gwan, invis pot and pull him to Isle 4 to avoid azaraks. Or clear azaraks.
soloed him easily 2 days ago lvl 66 monk 6k hp 1700 ac unbuffed very simple resisted procs just dont agro the mob in windmill or ull have 2 fd and try again seeing as it agros both blades
yeah i know how you feel.. after spending great sums of plat to get to the island to kill gwan... used my charred scale few times, every time blade storms aggro'd.. but only seemed to do it when i used a healing pot.. or azarack came.
Same happened to me. 75 pally at 2800ac unbuffed, I just ate the azzaracks, as well as Djorn + his guards. The DT mob did not attend the festivities :)
Took a huuuuge overkill to meet up with Gwan. My friends were concerned so I humored them. 70 bard 100 AAs, 70 War 100 AAs, 70 Cleric (bot) 230 AAs, 66 mnk 46 AAs and 66 ench (bot) 110 AAs - all pre-elem. Take the key of swords to the 2nd island. Someone didn't listen to me :) Runed the War (more humor) which wore off when Gwan was at 23%.
None of the island mobs assisted.
Knowing what I know now I could have easily done him with the sham/monk combo as I did with Trunt.
took out Gwan tonight .. me (65 monk) a 60 wizzy and a 62 bard .. his knockback landed only once on me with 170 MR .. wasn't too bad especially with no healer present
Yes, a 65 Bstlord should be able to solo him. I recently did it with a 66 Monk (SSRA+VT gear) and a boxed 65 Druid (Crap Gear not worth mentioning). Had to only heal once (may have been ok without a heal but would have been close), resisted all of the knock backs with 290 MR, did no DPS with the Druid, just Damaged shielded my monk.
Hey guys i did Gwan today ... heres the info. once you zone into Plane of Sky, Kill the thunder spirits to loot the minture sword which is the item get the key of sword. in order to get the key of sword you need to kill the thunder spirit princess. once she is dead Sirren will pop he is the mob you had in the minture sword too, to get the key of sword. " DO not hail him or speak in any other channel except for group or your all dead"..lol! once u have the key you go to the left portal on that island and click it with the key to get to island 2. Once your there setup camp inside windmill. hand in the scale to The presence to make gwan pop. tell gwan "/say i am prepared." to have him aggro on you and simply walk him into the windmill dont worry about the other mobs they will not assist gwan so stick to him and you'll have the breath of gwan. oh yeah i forgot dont bother buffing up before porting to PoS "Plane of Sky" cause once you zone in all your buffs will be stripped..so it better if you buff up in PoS. Good luck hope this helps!
Took em out earlier today, was just me and my 65 shammy bot. Cleared out the mistress then pulled gwan to the mill. Was easy fight, resisted his proc most of the time and shammy was able to land ice spells on em, had 40% mana after kill. Also was able to take out eejag and trunt with just me and shammy bot. Still gotta get book from skyfire then on to final fight hopefully be done soon. Good luck to everyone :)
65 WAR 65 WIZ 60 CLE (two boxed by the WAR) 62 RNG 57 MNK
We killed two spirits on the first isle, got our keys (one of them dropped a spell). Killed princess who dropped Belt of Tranquility. Handed our keys into the halfling, ported up.
I had read that when you spawn Gwan and attack him, the Blade Storms and Dojorn don't assist. Well.. The Storm Mistress was in the windmill, and the warrior said they'd assist.
Attacked Mistress, both blade storms assisted. Everything went down alright. Mistress dropped Crimson Tessera and one of the storms dropped Spell: Conjure Corpse.
Med break, made the hand in, pulled Gwan into windmill. About a minute and a half, two minute fight. No deaths. Simple and easy.
I went to PoSky with 64 ranger 62 paladin 55 cleric 55 chanter 59 wizard
We show up and see no spirits so they all leave and *poof* a spirit pops so we take everyone back and kill 2 thunder spirits then kill the princess. everyone gets a key and uses it on a transporter. (Key of Swords) When we arrive we rest up and handin and we own him EASY. He was red to a 52 monk but his hp were laughable. I saw him hit for 40 (I laughed) and then hit for 110 (I chuckled). So only thing to fear is his stun/knockback. BTW our wizard was not able to levi in this zone *shrug* odd huh?
There is still an Azarack bug so watch it. We were doing a guild raid and stopped to do Gwan for my epic while we were there. An Azarack aggroed and then so did the bladestorms, etc., right as we pulled Gwan. Almost everyone died, but luckily we got Gwan down and I looted just barely in time.
Took him down last night with a group of 6. One guy ported to wrong island and died. puller got thrown off the island with knockback and he resisted everything from our 61 enchanter. So all it took was a group of 3 people to actually take him down. No problem.
did this quest last night with a group from my guild...that azarak is NOT supposed to be on that island...it wiped my group out...we promptly called a GM about the situation and they removed the "wandering" mob and gave us all rezzes....
Just some info that wasn't mentioned anywhere else here (that i saw)... there is a roaming imp, can't remember his name but it shows up at the island that you spawn Gwan on every 10-15 mins or so. He is KOS and roams in a circle around the windmill before taking off again, if you are on the island and your not paying attention - he WILL agro you, and the other mobs WILL assist him. Leaving your group with 2-3 of the blade mobs that hit for 275 or so, and the storm caller if she is up, she is a lv 55 mage with pet that spawns in lighthouse. I went to try gwan with 2 chars, 65 monk, 65 sham. The first attempt at him the imp showed up just before i pulled and killed my sham, i fded and /q to clear agro, and came back to try it again. 2nd attempt, as i had Gwan to around 5 percent the imp showed AGAIN and agroed the entire island on me and the shamman. Needless to say, i died again, with both chars this time. Came back and fully buffed before clicking on the portal to Djarn's island, then i zoned in monk and FD'd and waited for the roamer to come by and leave again, aftwards looting both corpses. Fortunaly gwan was still up after 45 mins or so, so i pulled him hoping i would have time before roamer again, managed to get him dead before roamer came back, looted my breath and took the dive=) My point here is that imp roamer can seriously ***** things up, i would recomend having the monk click on Djarn's island portal First, and fd as soon as inside, that way he can tell the group when the roamer is gone and safe to port in. Once on the island, spawn and kill Gwan quickly and get out would be my advice, or take a high lv chanter and good healer=) P.s. gwans proc is weak, 140 mr and it didnt land once, just fyi - also you can stand pretty far back when you say the message ' i am prepared', far enough so that he is not in melle range, therefore not able to proc his knockback, giving the puller time to get away before he hits you, hope this helps, i know i had a heck of a time with this guy, hoping to help the rest of you monks out there , good luck =)
We killed Gwan with 1 group: 65 warrior, 60 monk, 56 monk, 56 shammy, 54 cleric and 52 monk ....Fight didnt last long at all hehe, cleric didnt even have to heal till fight was over....shammy couldnt get any spells to stick either so he is highly MR! Anyway, he was nothing :)
My guild took him out for me 2 days ago had 2 and a half groups got our keys(first 2 spirtes caused a wipe of most ppl b/c princess aggro and I told them to just die and have a cleric camp) but we all got our keys went to 2nd island saw the trigger man I gave him the scale he hit me for 165 and ran I went to the ramp of the windmill and saw him after me I slowly went into the WM and I told the tank to get on him. . .he got a knockback on me and I saw him run off so I FDed and he came back. Then he knocked my MT threw the wall so this fight was kinda chaotic having ppl get knocked around not 1 death no one fell off so I take it as a total success. This guy was easy and if done right can be takin down np.
Jumping off the islands is the best way to leave the zone. A good 15 - 20 seconds of freefall and then you ZONE. You will crash, with no damage, into the ocean in Freeport. Fairly close to the docks that take you to OOT / BB. Just swim towards the docks.
This guys SUX, Went on a friend's guild raid to PoA and this was the last MOB we're fighting for the night, and he comes in the WM after runnin around for about 5 min. b/c of pathing issues, comes in, tanks get on him, enchanter gets a tash on him, everyone tryed to nuke him but this **** is nearly 100% MR. Resisted all my spells, resisted most all the wizzy's spells, I think they said at most they got in two spells if they got one in, and they didn't hit for max, it was sumthin like 100 damage. But yea this guy is a pushover even when he goes into his rage Mode. Pushover.
OK, since this was a question I had, I decided to sit and time it while the rest of the raid was wiped out going to the next island =P
The "a presence" Spawns exactly 2 hours after Gwan's death. So, doing this more than one time in a day is possible. Just thought I would fill everyone in
