oddly named mob as part of the name has upper-case letters (most of EQ is one or the other... and once upon a time it was pretty much only special named that had upper case).
I ran into a bunch of these in the hallways around the arena (as in accessed by the doors in the arena itself when you try and work your way back up).
They were social for aggro.
faction hits:
Kromzek -30 Kromrif -7 King Tormax -7
Claws of Veeshan +15
drops: Giant Warrior Helmet, foreign power source, black sapphire, Storm Giant Meat
I soloed 2 of these guys at once was a very hard fight had to use all my abilities and aa's for A Foreign Power Source, which is the reason I went pet had a stun proc that happened to stick after I used a tash proc weapon. had to just deal with the other ******* hitting on me. You can get two on this it just really sucks for soloing. I was told it drops off the cleric types with good melee which are the ones that can gate. I have a bunch o aa's, but only problem is rampage and gate and rampage.
BTW I thought this was important friend got this in 10 kills. It took me believe or not after his 70 kills to get so this is totally random and totally FRIGIN BS. If your coming to this camp thinking it's an easy VP quest IT'S NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are 2 type of PoZ's and the spelling shows on them.
Protector of Zek: is a caster and sits in the open area of the arena back towards the area to get to the king. They are casters and will CH themselves and gate/summon raid to death.they are red to a 54 and there are 2 usually up side by side.
protector of zek: is inside the building in the arena. 3 stand side-by-side. they dont not cast or gate. These are in yellow to 54 so i am guessing the 56 is right.
all you out there who fight all 3 at once you dont need to, if you have a monk that is (necro/sk might work too). The PoZ in the doors get stuck alot of the time when you are FDed, just wait for the other two to walk back to there spawning point, and aggro the one that is stuck in the door. rinse and repeat the inner 3 are daed. THe ones with Kasis often teleport on top of youm just run around the corner, wait for one to teleport on you, then FD. wait for all to return to spawn, get up he should still have aggro on you. walla all your PoZ are singled, and you didnt even have to root them, tri tank them, or whatever you did before.
Ok when does the MA unleash his defensive disc on them and when should the clerics cheal them? I have mostly seen it done at half health for heals. Also, when should pets and nukes go in against them?
u can use stun on giants. I am so sick of hearing ppl tell me when we r raiding "u cnat stun them" after i am yelling at them to stun. No they dont get "stunned" but it still interupts theer casting. so do stun wehn they go to cast gate or ur screwed when they bring back friends. and even if you do keep the other one vbusy he will CH the one whoes nearly dead.
You can stun them - but it only does damage, it DOES NOT STOP CASTING. You have to either push them far enough to interrupt them, or mana sieve. Knockback doesnt work either. Dont try to tell me it stops them, cause i've killed more than 50 of these. Not one wipe due to a gate or CH.
Well my Guilds Method was Have them Tashed for easy casting on them but the Chanters just Mana Tap/Drain the Hell out of thwm which in turn reduces the chance they Gate and or CH, Had these guys drop a Defiance a Black Blade of Tormenting, and a Velium Swiftblade... Very nice Seeing we got these in like 2-3 Hrs
Having just had my first turn in the Arena last night (very successful; no leather drops but lots of plate/silk/chain) another thing that will stick is Ro's Sundering, the minor AC/good Fire Resist Debuff. I was able (mostly) to land these at lvl 42, and afterwards was able to get in a firestrike at times, even at my low level compared to some of these mobs.
quote: >Basically have an enchanter Tash them, and tell >your wizzies/chanters/paladins to stun/knockback >in the end.
you cant stun them. and they also complete heal each other, so dont rootpark them, keep em busy if yon cant pull them single (SKs can seperate them with engulf darknes)
There are 2 Protectors of Zek....these guys stand on the left and right side of Kallis Stormcaller and are the ones who warn you to go no further....ie into the temple where Derakor will kill you.... These 2 Protectors and Kallis (note 'P') drop the ugly heads for the Rangers...
There are numerous protectors of zek (note 'p') who don't drop the heads for the Rangers and are scattered round the arena entry etc...
Kill em all....if you go well Kill Derakor and go try your luck in the temple
all the mobs this far up have a chance to drop the Thurg quest bits...
took one of the 3 protectors from the arena , and a wandering giant by the ramp to the arena area both at the same time with 2 groups. fighting these guys is very fun. i personally dont consider them that hard. the fights are fun though, sure beats doing seb without a chanter/snarer just so i can stay awake cause the game has gotten so freaking dull.
A friend said he looted a SMASHED head on Zek from one today. I know its not for the helm of the tracker, but anyone have any idea what its used for instead?
