Getting tainted to spawn after 4 days, more than 3,000 kills

This worked for me, just 5 min. ago. I did exactly what you said, after clearing the cyclops island multiple times on my 85 heroic druid and not seeing the tainted after about 3 hours. I lured Quag over to the undead island and rooted him and killed him, swam back to the cyclops island and killed the cyclops closest to the water on the beach near the Druid Ring and low and behold, after about 6 kills, there was the tainted right in front of me. I killed him and the corrupted spawned about 20 feet from where the tainted died. Looted my Seavines and I am soo happy to be done with this camp :) .

Thank You for the detailed explanation of how to get the tainted to spawn. It worked a treat for me!

Found another spawn combo:
tainted seafury cyclops: +1663, -2820
corrupted seafury cyclops: +1642, -2936

There sure are more cylcops that are placeholders for a tainted one so it might be the best to just kill all cyclops on the southern part of the isle. Quag Maelstrom is like most named mobs on its own spawn cycle and doesnt have to be killed.

I had the tainted pop at 1643, -2937 and the corrupted spawned a few steps northward next to the hill. Popped at 3PM gametime .

Just cleared the entire southern half of the island, took about 3 hours. Levelled from 40-45 with a tank merc in that time.

Been at it for 12 hours, clearing the entire island 5 times an hour on average. No tainted yet.

Been camping this guy for weeks. Tried all the tricks mentioned. One day, it was around 4:00 - 5:00 AM game time, he finally spawned. Just West of the old Druid Circle. Quag was up when he spawned.

Keep on killin' those one-eyed-behemoths and you will eventually get yours!

Finally.

I spent quite a few hours over a couple weeks trying to get him to spawn. I was moloing with 61 druid and warrior merc and had trouble getting/keeping the south area clear let alone the island. Ended up doing everything else first.
What finally worked for me was treating it like std rare spawn with single placeholder:
1. Parked at 1600, -2500
2. Killed regular seafuries as they spawn/agro
Tainted spawned within 20 minutes.
Quag was not up.
It was not 3am.
Beach (let alone island) was not clear.

There may be a time component but 3a is not the only time, it was definitely day when he spawned for me.
Good luck.

Doing epic again for an alt druid.
On this step found that corrupted does not spawn on tainted corpse but over near ruined druid ring.

What I did was clear entire Cyclops population from island leaving only Quag and the AC up. There are 2 fast spawns one on front side of island, other in central ravine these are on a 3 minute timer.

Clear Cyclops in blocks last group those on front side of island, then kill the 2 fast spawn as they pop. Doing clear this way will give less chance of having repop on top of you while dealing with the singles. The fast spawn on front side can pop in any spot for regular mob. Pull and kill corrupted then spawns over near druid ring.
My 2 Cents

I spent ALOT of time trying to get this guy to pop I would camp the island for hours on end with no tainted. I tried several different methods over several nonconsecutive days. Camped the beach. Left Quag up. Killed everything on the island...nothing.

Yesterday (Tuesday, March 25, 2014, around 5:00pm CST, daylight in game time) I decided to go back to the island and give it a quick try before logging out. I went to Seafury Island and torched every single cyclops on the island except for Quag (I had done this before). This time however, I ran over to the neighboring island and killed 20-30 Aqua Goblins. When I ran back to Seafury Island, Quag and the tainted were up and standing right next to each other on the SW tip of the island. The whole process happened within about 10minutes, and happened after the first island clearance.

I don't know if this is coincidence or not. Just wanted to share my experience.

If I were to guess, I would say that the best strategy is to leave Quag up, kill as many Cyclops as possible while keeping the SW beach clear, and be patient. It's a long shot that anything else, including killing Aqua Goblins, has any effect on spawning the tainted. It was NOT anywhere near 3am game time when I got him to pop. I do not think that game time matters with this spawn.

I'm a level 85 druid, so I was able to clear the cyclops and aqua goblins at a very fast pace. The whole thing took less than 10 minutes.

Corrupted spawned right on top of tainted's corpse immediately after it was killed.

Drinal server.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

Confirmed: Tainted pops at 3am (game time) on the dot. His place holder has to be down. South side of Island, West from druid ring. Its one of the cyclops that spawns every couple of minutes.

Been camping the whole island every sunday for a few months, couple hours a day. Never have gotten him to spawn, cleared island bunch of times, left Quag up a bunch of times while I cleared the island, had help from a lvl 99 quickly clear the island......nothing....starting to think that he doesn't spawn on Sundays at all. Got the ancient Cyclops to spawn a few times, and Quag spawned a bunch, but no tainted ever.....lots of hours wasted on this one. Luclin server

Cleared the whole island for hours and made the tained mob spawn three times, every time the same location:

- Under the tree, west of druid ring at 1750, -2765
- Game time 3 am
- Another popped right after killing the tainted & corrupted = no respawn lockout timer.
- Guag Maelstrom and corrupted can be up at the same time, watching them as I speak :)

Just a little note, I killed the tainted today (at the edge of the water due west of the druid ring) and the Corrupted did NOT spawn right on top of his corpse, he spawned a little ways off to the SE of my location (SW of the druid ring). Not sure if teh corrupted spawned immediately after or if he was already up (as I didn't notice him for a few minuted after I killed the tainted. But I know for sure the Corrupted DID NOT spawn over the corpse of the tainted when I killed him.

you are right, keep quag there , and clear the beach around druid rings , tainted spawn on beach and after that corrupted spawn west to druid ring

Okay, after clearing the island completely two times, i decided to go here and check for Advice.
I made up my own "theory", and as usual: either i got lucky, or i found it out ;)

Here's what i did:

1. clear the South Beach completely, including the one that spawns in the mountain pass in the middle almost but not entirely on the beach
2. There are 3 Cyclopses that respawn very quickly (2 mins or so) 2 on the beach, the other one in the middle. I killed those 3, then killed Gromnit.
3. the tainted spawned almost instantly at the south side of the beach, and spawning a corrupted at a different location (on the beach at the mountain)

Please tell me if my theory is correct! :)

No luck

I've tried the tip of clearing only the south beach and leaving Quag up. Did this for hours, no luck. I've tried clearing every cyclops and keeping the island clear, no luck. Tainted is hibernating I guess. On day 3 now. Frustrating.

I just cleared the south beach west of the druid ring and left the Bard epic named mob up like the posts suggested below and he popped within about 20 minutes or so.

Clearing the SW tip of the isle leaving Quag up eventually worked for me, too. I had tried clearing the entire island and killing all cycs, but just clearing the one area with Quag up worked for me ~fairly~ quickly -- at least compared to the days/hours I spent earlier
Definite trick to this
# Sep 17 2008 at 11:28 AM Rating: Good
Ok just did this with 80 Cleric. for 2 days pulled entire island and killed with VoV and Ward. No Tainted. Read posts here and decided to leave Quag Maelstrom up. There are two Cyclops which spawn faster than others on the Druid Ring side of the island. One is PH for Tainted and the other is PH for Corrupted.

Since these spawn faster than other mobs, the efficient way to do this is clear island and then kill them as soon as they respawn you will get about 2X the chanc eof tainted spawning as opposed to if you waited each time for the whole island to respawn.

After 2 whole island respawns while leaving Quag up, I killed Gomit. WIthin 10mins, tainted spawned at 1725, -3039. Killed him and Corrupted spawned at 1586,-2612.

Hope this helps.

that did not work for me.
62 druid box with 75 bard main. wiped the whole island four times, had the ancient cyclops pop twice (yay). i used highsun to find the spawnpoints of the two fast spawn seafuries, and sat at one of their spawnpoints for a few minutes after they died, but had the tainted pop one minute later about 100 metres from where i was. that point was 1577, -2605, next to a tree with a rock. so i think the tainted can spawn from any seafury.

just wipe out the whole island over and over, he'll spawn eventually.

EDIT: killed the tainted and cyclops did NOT SPAWN from his corpse. i was initially disappointed until i looked on tracking, and found the corrupted seafury at the top of the list! i tracked him down and highsunned him. his spawn point is.. 1872, -2800. dunno if this will help but it sure was weird.

I took my 80 cleric cause after 5 days at 6 to 8 hours a pop I could not kill enough to clear the island properly before the respawned. I guess its designed for a full group of 50s. I tried every godamn diffrent thing with Quag etc with my 55 druid.

TAKE A 80 LEVEL TOON AND MASSACRE THE WHOLE ISLAND

10 to 15 minutes later Tainted will spawn

DO it this way Kill everything I even kileld Gornt the pirates even the cute lil lesser spirt that spawns after yea kill some lil gnome capt.

At this day and age to have to "cheat " and use a 80 level toon is GD BS.

The goofy spawn drop rate need increaseing casue you are jsut not going to find peopel willing to camp these mobs with you on an alt. Unless they a good buddy.
bs bs
# Sep 07 2008 at 11:51 PM Rating: Decent
oK SPENT 5 DAYS HERE SO FAR 6 TO 8 HOURS A DAY on one of these currupt mobs. Just spent over 14 hours this sunday its 230 am mon stared at 8am sun with like a 4 hour break after 8 hours. The idea that that tip is key is bs. Its only a clear area so you can contain the area where the tainted spawns nothing more. No special trigger area. They spawn off a Seafury Cyclosps. Any of them on that island. I have done it both ways many times cant get the **** to spawnm either by mass killing island or selective killing on that ssw tip with quak up or recenly pop after a death. So ***** it and ***** thiswaste of a time epic sh*t. Its no wonder newer games use instances where mobs are gauraunted to be and impossible to ks/camp. This druid is 9.5 years old and is an alt I have epics on othe toons and I refuse I suppsoe to waste my life anymore on this crap.

Ok sorry its was like 2am when I typed thsi and I was pissed off.

Thanks to Soberdk i was able to get corrupted to pop ,just like he said,go to the south and east part of Seafury cyclops island(west of druid ring).Clear that area of all mobs(leave Quag alive if he is up) and keep clearing the new spawns and soon the tainted will pop then the corrupted.took me 3 days to figure this out. After i went back on the end of 3rd day i tried it like that and the corrupted popped inside of 20 or 30 min.

After camping this island for 5 hours I finally used this advice and instead of clearing the entire island, I only cleared the south beach end... Less than 15 minutes later I got my spawn. Do know if it was coincidental or not, but it worked. =)

GamParse recorded 1110 cyclopses killed in OOT including 7 ancients, 22 Quags, the tainted, and corrupted. I spent about 32 hours here and it sucked to high hell.

If I counted right, there are 38 cyclopses scattered around the new island. For the most part, I gathered them in 3 or 4 swarms and killed each group within 2 or 3 minutes. ***** that.

There are two cyclopses on the south beach area that are on a faster spawn cycle than the rest. At least one of them is the placeholder for Quag. They both may be, but I never saw two Quags up at once, so, who knows. I do know that once I stopped with that round-the-island nonsense, the tainted spawned when I kept the south beach cleared and made sure to kill the fast spawners as soon as they popped. The new tactic worked within one clear.. so less than 15 minutes. Maybe I got lucky; your mileage may vary.

At first, I gathered all 38 seafuries (be they sea furies/Quag/Gornit/ancient cyclops) and ae'd them all. I kept the island clean for a whole day but the tainted never spawned. So I read some posts and decided to just keep the south beach clean and forget the rest of the island. When Quag spawned, I left him up. Within 45 min of keeping beach cleaned and killing the 2nd fast spawning mob (the other being Quag already up), the 2nd fast-spawning mob was a tainted.
Does the Tainted still exist?

The last few days a friend (69 BL) and I (69 druid) have killed 100's upon 100's of Seafuries to get the Tainted to spawn for my epic. No luck. Does anyone know why the tainted is so rare now as it never used to be before they updated the zone. It is all I need to complete my epic 1.0

Well Sony got around to changing the zone a bit so Temakura's post above is only half right now.

Now there are so many seafurys around that there are normally 8 on one side of the island, sometimes 15 to 18 on the other. Got the AC to pop a couple times but i cant do enough damage to keep the quantity low yet so I havent seen the tainted at all.

Wish me luck!

Ok, this caused me a ton of problems getting this for my Druid bot.

I killed over 1500 Seafuries with no spawn.

I used my 70 Bard to pull all of them and then melee/DS them down. I was able to kill all 8 before the first respawn. also got at least 20 Quag's and none had the seavines.

This morning I decided on a slightly different track, I killed all Seafuries till Quag spaned, then I ignored him and continued pulling the 7 Seafuries. After 5 clears of the 7 Seafuries the Tainted spawned.

Probably nothing but gives you another avenue to pursure.

After reading the post about killing the Cyclops on the AC island and having spent 4 hours trying to make tainted spawn we killed the normal cylops on AC island, 6 sea fury kills later pop :)
Thanks for the tip guys
