As per a quote from one of the developers about this and the Beserker cycle:
Both cycles have NPC's in their cycle that when killed set up a 3 day respawn. I.E. it was designed with some long respawns in it.

Seems like I have trouble popping the Impaler cycle whereas the Berserker is incredibly easy to find. Any tricks on getting the Impaler to pop?

Yeah there's something strange about the impaler. He was up when I zoned in, so I started working on his cycle. I got all but 1 of his named, then killed the impaler, then nothing spawned. I waited about 5 minutes, a few trash mobs had spawned so I killed them and their replacements a few times. Still nothing. I went AFK for over an hour, came back and he still hadn't respawned. I killed a bunch of trash mobs, still no impaler. I guess I'll check back another day.

thats the point he rich he drops high end stuff that normaly you get from difficult things.

my friend and I killed this mob way back when we where level 24, he dropped a platinum ruby earring, no stats whatsoever. It sold to a vendor for 90 pp.

was runnin from firiona to field of bone, 53 warrior... saw this guy, decided to kill.
dropped me a Black Sapphire. not some lore item, not some quest item. a regular black sapphire gem like the ones that drop randomly off any 50+ mob in the game.

I watched a level 24 necro defeat it with ease. I am a level 17 SK and was able to deliver noticeable damage to it.

I'd say he's about level 25. Same faction as all the other frogs, and he did not have any interesting drops other than a few pp.
