I did some checking about the "Master Glox" who hangs out in the locked room. First, he's somewhere in the level range 36-40, because he's light blue to me at 55. Second, he doesn't spawn when you say "I am ready" to Grandmaster Glox. He has a repop timer of just under 30 minutes. He's indifferent but attacks if you hail him, and there are no faction hits. (Again, this is all for the lesser Glox.) And yes, saying "I am ready" anywhere near GM Glox will get you ported down there, even if you haven't targetted GM Glox, so be careful! Anyone can go there, not just monks.
I had a level 1 iksar warrior get transported down there to watch while my monk went in. After finishing off Glox, the monk went back to GM Glox and got sent in again, but Master Glox did not respawn until 29 minutes after he'd died.
I like to start my game sessions by using the new Return Home button to wake up in front of GM Glox, say I am ready, and go get a potion off Master Glox. If I can get Intimidate to fire during the fight, Master Glox flees through the locked door and eventually summons me to him, so I get to keep the potion instead of using it to escape the room. The potion is Temporary (no rent, as they used to say), but it can be handy to have in some places (e.g., after soloing in Fear to talk to Cazic-Thule).
These days I guess if you get ported accidentally by saying something too close to GM Glox, and you can't defeat Master Glox, you can get out by camping and (after six hours) using Return Home. Just don't hail Master Glox or he'll attack!
I ended up going LD in this room during the fight when he was at like 15% (I was mad, I gotta tell ya.) But if you're stuck like this what you can do is (assuming you can still take him) wait a while so that he can respawn and make a newbie monk. They start off right in front of Glox. Just have them hail Glox and say "I am ready" to spawn a new one. Log on real quick and bam, you got your potion of porting.
The ragged books aren't for a "hidden" quest, they are for a quest that gives you back the newbie item for the appropriate class. For monks, hailing Master Niska and saying "no" in response to her dialog gets you this book. The reason they dropped from Glox is because, upon hailing him, he emotes something similar to "shows no reaction to your greeting.", followed by the response text from Niska. So, every time someone hails him, another book is added to his loot list.
Nah, Grandmaster Glox is killable. We pulled him across the water to where the floating barrels are and I tanking him in the corner for a good 3 hours I think it was. Only had like 8 of us, think he has 1 million hp. He dropped 8 "a ragged notbook"'s Hidden quest?
I totally pawned this guy at 49 with a Virtue and HOS... he got me down to 50% after I mended at 75%. I wasn't wearing anything special, mostly Acrylia Reinforced with a BP Tunic. I also have SCHW. I fought him with my 1hbs (Master Wu's and Staff of Shielding).
if you challenge gox and decide you can't take him, there is another way to leave the room (assuming you are a monk). Intimidate him and he runs out the door. wait for the fear to wear off and he summons you to him (out in the SK guild) then FD. when he leaves you alone, you are free of the room.
The first grandmaster is the hard hitter, verant made it so he wouldnt get killed on the guild. Anything that you say is I am ready for will make him teleport u to a place underneath the sk guild. There he is easier to kill. At a decent rate. I took my 22 warr there fairly equiped and decided to try him on. IF U HAIL HIM HE ATTACKS I got him 1 on 1 and I was amazed that he only hit max damage for 70 points. But he is very fast. Most of the attacks were 30 pts damage.
There is no way out but to kill him. The door is locked and if u fail, u die and the only way to truly get out is to get a gm to find u.
I hope you dont take this as a joke bcause it can happen.
Correct. You get teleported down below and in pops "Master Glox", not "Grand Master Glox". Master Glox is for the Tynnomium shackle quest, which is part of the Whistling Fists quest.
Yeah, but you can't get to the locked room with those walls... the only way is to talk to Grand Master Glox and he will port you there. Then either you die or defeat Master Glox, where you loot a NO DROP NO RENT LORE Potion of Escape to take you to the FoB.
I was trying to find out who to talk to for my new shackle and I said something like "I am ready for the shackle of rock" and I got ported to this room. The mob in the room is "Master Glox" (not grandmaster)and he seems to want me to fight him. He cons indifferent (even though he cons aimably in the court of pain) and red (of course, im only like 15). HOW DO I GET OUT/HOW DO I GET MY BODY AFTER HE KICKS MY A**???
You morons, when you tell glox you are ready for the test of agility he despawns and spawns in a lower area where you CAN kill him to get the proof of agility and a potion of gate to field of bone. He isnt a newbiee even than but high level monks need to kill him for a quest and can.
WHAT THE HELL! why would u be stupid enough to even try to hit a lvl 61 NPC OF COURSE U WOULD die thats why they make them so high. and besides if he dropped something good everyone would be camping him non stop.
Whoever u are name non known to us, you sure are one idiot. It's for an amaizing monk quest. Next time, don't assume everyone is a dumbass or else you will end up in the position you are now. Anyway, I would like to know, when is glox soloable, and if you can do it in a grp how?
I agree with Lord helpnot, your the dumbass, there is a way to fight this guy, you prolly need a grp of 6 at field of bone ent, have somone nuke him and drag him to ent, but you prolly want to kill the guards first to make things easier so you wont have any adds at all.
This guy is incredibly tough... I was taking my newbie Ikky Monky for a spin returning my Curscale bag to get newbie curscale armor, when i stopped by my guild to sell the scorpion pincers for cash... when i suddenly see this....
Grand Maser Glox punches Schear for 266 damage! Grand Maser Glox punches Schear for 292 damage! Grand Maser Glox crushes Schear for 343 damage! Grand Maser Glox crushes Schear for 312 damage! Grand Maser Glox kicks Schear for 983 damage! Schear was slain by Grand Master Glox!
I don't think i ever saw another lvl50+ player go down that quickly :)
I don't remember the class, but it was an Iksar, looked like either a SK or Shaman... looked like was wearing chain and carried a shield.
not to burst your bubble or anything, but i would just like to point out that grand master glox could not have crushed anyone, because he has no weapon...and yes i have gotten my *** kicked by him when i accidentally hit kick instead of mend

I think he drops that newbiely item that you can earn as an Iksar at level 5 where you must get 6 Busted froglok shackles(VERY RARE FOR ME, I HATED IT, CAMPED OUT FOR A WEEK LOOK FOR 6 VERY RARE ESCAPED FROGLOKS!!!) and turn them in to get 3 granite pebbles, then turn those in to Master Bain to get your prize. They are on of the items that the grand master is wearing. What do I want from the master? Um, just the moolah =).
The reason none of the other Masters helped him when he was being attacked is because it would have insulted his monkly powers and diminished his honour as the Grand Master... besides, he took care of himself didn't he?
A few months ago me and about 8 friends tried to get him, the monks around him didnt attack, but he is way hard to hit I got in like 4 hits at around 120 plus my kick which did about the same, then he hit me once for 372 and again for 287 then he missed missed kick for 518 and then he hit quad hit me for about 200 each time, I died, but the casters said he was at almost half life, so I guess if you got like 20 55+ you could take him, oh our lvls were 48, 52, 39, 51, 47,1(he just attacked him to see if the others helped, that was funney) 58, 55, and 43. they other monks around did start to attack though, not sure how long it took.
Glox would rip through em!! Munk Powa!!! Besides, Guild leaders and quest NPC from everyone I've known who does kill them drop nothing, usually not even coppper, so don't bother unless you really wanna mess up some peoples quests.
Also hes sorrounded by the other iksar monk guild masters, like 3 of them i think. That combined with all of the gaurds in cabilis, this would be a tough raid :)
This guy is a tough one. He hit me for 451pts when my iksar newbie accidentally hit the 'a' key. I'd hate to think of how hard his kick would be... *shutters*
He's the man!!! That is what a guild leader should be like. I just wonder... how much exp would someone get who killed him? Someone who is like level 58 or 59 or something. If anyone manages too lemme know and if yer on Bristle Bain Give efrate a tell adn gimma his headband! Celestal Fists? Ha! Bet his headband is at least as good.
First of all, Grandmaster Glox only hits you for the insane amount of 400+ if you're low lv. Trust me, at lv65, any melee class will take about 100-175 from him a hit because I was watching this monk solo him (uber gear! He was smacking him for 120+ a hit) and noticed that glox was either missing the guy a lot or hitting him for like 80-175.
