To get the most pops leave the 5am (game time) PH pop to de-pop at 7am it re-spawns by 9. Kill all the others.
This way you'll get 3 or 4 pops per eq day rather than 2

If you want him to spawn just kill the mino near the pot thingy whenever you see it and raster will spawn after a lil. (Kelide is very happy about his pretty new idol =)).

Just out of curiosity, if I can keep that spawn point clear and not worry about the minos from below (I am a 55 monk) would that make any difference on when Raster spawns or the amount of PH's per game day?
I hate doing time sink and although this is very nice for a monk indeed, I do think that it has been nerfed with some of the stuff coming out of the elemental planes. (Ornate armour comes to mind) If there was a way of speeding this up, like say raster pops every 85 ph's then it would be a whole lot easier on all of us monks.

Just wanted to post and say that I camped Raster for about 3 hours and he spawned. And this was the first time I camped him. I waited longer to get Targin the Rock in Sol B. Camped him for about 6 month before finally got him.

Raster is, in my opinion, just a random spawn, a friend of mine was camping fbss and some other things in the zone, when he decided to good look at raster camp, there he was, he ddnt do anything anywhere near the camp, and he god The Idol, i even inspected him and saw it... Random

Holly crap ...... i finally got him. I had camped him on and off for 16 hrs. I had help a fellow monk camp him for 34 hrs before I camped him. The spawn rate seems to be correct but the idea of letting one despawn I didnt do I just killed everything in sight. I remember the monk I had helped tell me he got Raster to spawn right after recieving a patch from QE... I recieved a patch from everquest yesterday ... got Raster to spawn abouy 3hrs later... killed him got idol.. Im not too sure if this will help but it might.. all I can say is good luck.

Raster is hella hard to get, but in comparrison to the rest of the monk epic I feel lucky, 2 or 3 super anoying kills to start up but in the end monk epic is a cake walk compared to others. And just look at the resulting item!! I was just wondering if Raster is gonna be the hardest camp I'm gonna have to do (patience wise). I heard Chardok and Karnor are 5x worse.

I was bored as hell waiting at Raster camp and I had been there a good while and I was imagining his outline inthe spawn point. I had just finished cleaning my ears out with a Q-tip and saw a Q-tip (clean one) by my chair and jokingly made a bet that if he spawned I'd eat this Q-tip... poof he spawns ... so i ate the Q-tip lol. I liek to call this my Q-tip theory, use it...it works =P

I hate this cave but i love doing quests , and this my monk needs it , so i have to do it , even if i hate this cave ....at end the robe we get is very nice but... always a but with time and game development so fast , i think we can get a robe in other places very close in status and with little trouble to get and dont spend like 24 hours looking a pit respawn in a damm cave ...

Well I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I did Taqin first, and got him to pop in 3 spawn cycles, about an hour total. Figured what they heck, may as well run to Lguk and set up for Raster camp. So I run in and there is Raster, ready and waiting. Killed him and left with no more than 15 minutes spent in the area.
I put this off for so long simply because I did not want to put in 100 hours camping one or both of these guys. Camping something is one of my most hated EQ passtimes and I guess some higher being understood and didn't put me through it. If I can offer any piece of advice to other monks, it would be this: Don't put it off, give it a try and you never know what may happen. Don't believe all the horror stories you see on the internet like I did =).

im just pointing out what the guy wrote is all wrong you can MQ the idol cause the Red Sash of order isnt no drop and thats what the idol is MQed with and RotLC is MQ with Both pipes from KC and Chardok the whole monk epic is pretty much mqable

i am posting this to let all know to be carful at this camp. I have been caming raster now for 30hrs and just had him KSed from me by a monk named Naffiner an Lans T'vyls. so if you see him dont trust him

Well sounds like a lot of good and confussing info on killing Raster. I was there off and on yesterday trying to help a fellow monk..... he had Raster camped for 24 real life hours...... WOW is Raster really worth it?? EQ might want to help us monks out by increasing the spawns of the monk called RASTER......

Well, I finally got him. Didn't do much special.
Was clearing the area between spawn times just out of boredom, making a few plat, etc. Was watching my timer carefully, I walked over to the location at the appropriate time...hmm, nothing popped. I waited another minute...still nothing. I figured something was up. Another 30secs...blam, there he is. And of course I almost fell out of my chair. In any case...I could have been slow activating the timer, but I really doubt it. His spawn seemed slightly delayed by an additional minute or so. Not that this helps matters at all. All in all I spent about 11 hours camping him, and even though it would be wise, I did not stagger my PH kills, I just plowed on through everything. I didn't kill the basilisk, I didn't click in the bottom of the pot, or feign three times while holding a catalope and praying in Elder Dragon....I just killed PH's and nearby minos and waited...and waited.

This is a bunch of crock what you guys say about that 8am crap blah blah blah....He is totally random and still havent got him....Heard a rumor about killing a wandering NPC named "Basilisk" after you kill him Raster is supposed to come up next spawn cycle..So no more of this stupid 8am despawn crap does help. Doubt the Basilisk thing is true too only has happened twice with my friend and his friend. (No im not a Harry Potter fan)..

The purpose of using the despawn time strategy isn't to force Raster to spawn, it's to increase the number of placeholders you will see in a given time frame.
If you do use the despawn method, you will always see 3 placeholders during an EQ day, thus improving your chances of seeing Raster in a given time frame. I'd like to tell of my experience with Raster of Guk. I hear all these really neat stories of how he spawned for people in 20 minutes and this and that. But as for me, I camped him an entire week. I hope the info helps people understand that he is 100% totally random. I spent nearly 12-15 hours a day camping him. I logged in July 23, 2003 at 10:30AM to see his corpse lying there, looted of course. So I left the camp thinking he would not spawn again. However, I did not know until later that he had spawned 2 hours earlier at 8:30am. I would find out two hours later that he spawned yet again for the third time at 3:30PM that same day! So I went back Thursday morning. I camped until Aug. 4th and gave up. I logged back on around 1:00am Aug. 5th (Tuesday) and ran down there for the hell of it and there he was, just waiting to be killed. I did not stay around after to see if he would spawn again. I was so sick of that place that I wanted a port out to never return again. The thing is, I wasted an entire week sitting down there, waiting for this guy. I became so frustrated that I wanted to quit. Then for no reason I just go down there and he's right there. So my advice is this, don't waste your precious time camping this prick. Go down and see if he's there. My friend says he has seen him at least 6 times just sitting there. Stay around for a couple and do the 5AM >let mob despawn and kill the other two, rinse and repeat. If he doesnt spawn, dont stay down there and torture yourself like I did. Go back the next day....or just pop in and see if he's there. It worked for me and some will say I got lucky. But having camped him for a week straight...I got what I finally deserved. Someone in an earlier post said "don't give up" and thats what kept me going. I hope my post helps someone as well. Don't give up =)

Does anyone know how long raster stays up? After he spawns how much time do i have to get him in battle before he leaves? thanks, camped him for 38 hours so far. not fun, but need the idol, so i wait.. :)
Everything that spawns at Raster's spawnpoint despawns at 7am ingametime, even if they are in battle. So at 7am, whatever is there despawns. At 8am gametime, something spawns, and unless it's killed it will stay up till 7am and despawn. If something was killed between the 2 times, it will respawn 9 game hours later(27min). So it is possible to have 3 spawns a day. kill the 8am one, another will spawn at around 5pm, another will spawn then at about 2am, unless the last spawn of the day is raster let it despawn and try again.

It took me 9hrs straight no breaks to get Raster of Guk. I had previously camped him twice for bout 3hrs each time.
He spawned on right side of room, and at the 5am spawn time.
I followed the standard 3 spawns a day cycle.
5am Spawn don't Kill
8am Despawn(but for me he despawned at 7am consistently I prolly messed up the spawn times)
10am Respawn Kill
7-8pm Spawn kill
and repeat.
I was a 46 Monk with good gear no bufs but lots of gauze,I had no problems clearing room, taking down Raster or killing the Mino elder. I also took down Evil Eye three times to make som PP while I was bored (make sure u have good resist gear, I didn't but used discipline resist and it came real close to biting it a couple of times. Hope it is fun for you all as it was for me. I recommend u go there while u still XP, I still get XP at 47 but am moving on to bigger and better things, next epic item.

why does eveyone complain about other people posting a good story? Yeah they got him in 30 min, yeah you have been waiting 50 hours.. so? as of right now I have been waiting for three hours. I am following the spawn pattern,I want the extra spawn each day. Gratz on everyone who has gotten raster, weither it took a day or 50. gratz.!!!!!! :)

I was helping a monk from my guild with this nightmare camp, sort of tag team, and just as I was about drop ... together we had been at it for over 30hrs without missing a spawn... Raster spawned. I killed him and logged in my buddy's monk to loot (man was he happy the next time he logged in). I had also been farming EE Bags nearby so I logged back in and went to check for that spawn.. when I got back to the Raster camp, it had started popping so out of habit I started killin.. amazingly.. Raster spawned again! The very next spawn! I killed him and looted cause another monk who came through had said he was gonna just MQ it if he could.. I did a PC in auction channel and got nothing useful.. prices suggested ranged from 2K -20K. I sent a tell to the monk I et and he immediately offered me 10K.. we completed the transaction within about 30 min...
The story doesnt end there... the EE Bags were popular with my guild, so, since I was still bound there, I gated in to do a few rounds of EE farming and who do you suppose was already up? Killed him again, looted and auctioned for 10K. Caught a bit of flak in /auction channel.. but at the same time I was getting messages in /tell inquiring about it... MQed this one after like 6 or 8 hours.
I'm still bound there... camp has been good to me... hmmm...

was in guk over the 4th, had a lot of buffs when i started, i hope you like /gems.. i played about 4 hours. Clearing the room almost killed me at lvl 46. Did what paanda did - 5am pop despawned and killed the others. Fell asleep for about 2 hours while FD'd and had to clear the room again with no buffs. Noone in chat wanted camp so i thought "just one more pop"-- my heart almost jumped out of my throat when he popped, mend was down and i had 70%hp, almost got me but he ran and i wsa one happy camper. 16 hour camp. boring as all hell.

ok heres my account of My "Raster Experience"
I was hunting in lguk when i heard a monk yelling something about him getting Raster so i figured "Hey it's open why not try it?" So I went over there to the mino elder room and sat in the pot, following the strategie thing
5am. Spawn, leave mob to despawn.
8am. Mob despawns.
10am. The mob respawns, kill it.
7-8pm. The mob spawns again, kill it again.
that one well about 7 hours in i started gettin kinda tired of the whole equation thing so i just started killing the PH every time. well 1 hour later i was about ready to scream so i said "to hell with it, im hittin the sack"
I went up to the keyboard, typed /q, and then thought "Oh what the hell wont harm leaving it on"
so i got in bed watched a mino pop at spawn place then grumbles and turned over. well half an hour later the screen kept nagging at me so i got up sat down and waited for the next spawn.
BOOM.
RASTER RASTER RASTER.
That guy was down so fast he didn't know what hit him. i grabbed the idol and the Torn Brown Shirt* and went to bed very happy!
Total time camping: from 9:00pm PST to 6:30am PST
Used Equation: On and off, in the end, no.

I'm glad that despite your lack of posting experience, you are able to make an interesting story. Unlike some people =P. i.e. "So I can't the PH and the thing happened and I was like omg and i was level 2 and I had 5 level 65's with me and he went down so fast and I won the roll on by like 200 and sold it for 10k." God, I can't STAND those stories.

There is no formula. Just stick in the minotaur room and kill em' all until he spawns. If there is a PH... I don't know what holds it for him.

Last week i camped raster from 4pm tuesday to 730pm thursday with no sleep at all just non stop carnage.. well whenever there was a spawn of some sort at raster camp and there was no spawn but this weeekend there was 2 spawnz that i know of <ponder> think raster might be more likly to spawn on the weekends then weekdayz?
