Nilits Contraption  

I was camping the Kobolds east of the city and kept seeing this rogue clockwork that conned red to me keep going thru the camp. After I lvl'd to 8 I moved to the skeleton camp just north of there and went back to see what it conned to me at lvl 8. It was yellow so I killed it(i'm a mage), well it was no hassle so I went back to camping my skeles. After another round of skelies and 90% of another bub, I went back to kill the rogue clockwork again. This time the contraption was up, it conned red, and I said lets give it a go. Well go I went, after it resisted my nuke, I sent in my pet and before I got gate off the pet was dead. Luckily, I was far enough away to get it off. So if anyone is lucky enough to be checking these boards and looking for this guy, he is probably still up near the kobold camp (east of city) on Bertoxx server.

Killed this guy last night. What a disappointment. He conned dark blue to me (27 Monk). He is a piece of cake. Was surprised how long it took to kill him though. He did only like 8 pts of damage. Dont be afraid of this guy. Got this tinker toy & dont know what to do with it. Any ideas?

The name is Nilits Contraption not clockwork...it may have at one time been called Clockwork but not last night. It conned DB to me at 28 and it put up a pretty good fight (mend is nice) I found it just past the minotaur cave, left side. The Kobold Missionary spawned just moments before the Contraption. Maybe this may help somebody? Anyway the Kerran doll is nice if you have an available slot and nothing else better to hold. and it was not any hassle at all.. I enjoyed doing the quest and it was free.. GL!

it dont sound worth the truble to go though to get 5 ac if ya ask me i killed it today and destroyed the doll lol

This guy drops a manstone... not the manastone that used to drop in guk but some clockwork.. thingy. Very rare, gives 10mana for 45Hps, very useful.

Just completed the Kerran Toy quest yesterday on Luclin server.

I did talk to Nilit Druzlit (Pos 1890, Neg 310) with the following result:

You say, 'Hail, Nilit Druzlit'

Nilit Druzlit says 'Eh? Eh?! Talk not now! My [creation] is running wild! Destroy it for me, please! If you do you can keep whatever parts you want from it.

You say, 'What creation'

Nilit Druzlit says 'Did you kill it yet? What? Bah! Yes, I made it. Nilit's clockwork it is. I made it to carry my toys to and from Ak'Anon but now it's gone wild and started attacking people. Please, destroy it!

However, despite doing this many times it did not seem to make any difference to the spawns in front of Minotaur Caves. Talking to other players I found out that Nilit's Clockwork had been seen about 24 RL hours earlier (shortly before I had got on the previous day) and that they felt it was on a 'strange' cycle. I had already taken to slaughtering everything that moved and carried on in this way. I spent about 4 or 5 hours killing yard trash in front of caves including taking down the Kobold Missionary 3 or 4 times, and witnessing the demise of, or helping take down the Minotaur Hero 3 times. Finally, Nilit's Clockwork (looking the same from a distance as any of the Rogue Clockworks) came strolling up from the south. It was 3AM game time, but I don't know if that was relevant. Not a hard kill for me at level 37 but certainly tougher by quite a way than the Rogue's. Did a minor amount of damage (less than 100 hp I think) with 754AC. Had the Gnomish Tinkered Toy on it which is NO DROP.

Strolled out of Steamfont a little while later, hitched a ride with a wizard to Toxx and from there to Kerran Isle. Found the Kerran Tseq's (Pos 220, Neg 145 ish), hailed them and passed them the Gnomish Toy, got the Kerran Toy (3AC 2AGI 0.1WT) back in return. Being kids the Kerrans then told me to take a hike as they wanted to play with their new toy (sorry forgot to log the messages).

Added a total of 5AC when I dropped it in my range slot. Pretty happy with that.

Well - I can confirm that this guy is no longer a triggered spawn (but i guess we all knew that didn't we?). I spent a few hours last night down by the Mino caves killing anything that moved, AFTER I talked with Nilit (twice). No sign of it, even with constant tracking.

I guess this one now falls into the "rare, but kill everything and hope he pops" spawn category. If anyone has any different information, please share...

If this spawn has been nerfed, its been to make him spawn more often. been in the Mnts for two days now and seen this mob no less than 8 times. and he was being killed so i know it isnt just the same one wandering around

I am a lvl 18 Ranger and was working the Rogue Clockworks for Microserves when this guy attacked me. I conned him as red, but I had been pretty heavily buffed so I decided to give it a try, at first I thought that my backside would be the final scene from the fight, but slowly I gained on him, and eventually with one bubble left I took him. I got the doll and gave and will give it to my enchanter. He can be soloed at under lvl 20 but it isn't really very wise. I did pick up 4 microservers that day too, a pretty profitable day if I do say so.

They must have added new mobs to my homeland since I was last there, now insane gnomes besides Meldrath to worry about and new npcs everywhere! I will have to check into this,

As far as I can remember, the trick to making this spawn is talking to Nilit. At least that worked when I did this quest a couple of months ago. Tried it again last night and it didn't work. Now Verant hardly ever changes quests so I think I forgot what you have to say to him. Anyways, I know that at least a couple of months ago, some people were using this spawn to powerlevel their characters because they could make it continuously spawn by having one person repeatedly talk to Nilit. So the trick is in what you have to say to Nilit I think

Wierd, I see the screenshot that says Nilit's Clockwork, but I killed it yesterday, and it was called Nilit's Contraption. Green as could be to a 34 ranger, slightly more hps than the regular clockworks.

I have never ever found one of these while hunting at the Mino Cave. This is for a gnome quest next to the Staff of Observers quest. Just go past the valley from the windmills (not towards the minocaves). One of the gnomes outside of the buildings should say something about building a Nilits clockwork to carry toys, but it went crazy and begs you to kill it for him. I haven't done this quest so I wouldn't know if you are supposed to give the toy to him.
