I am a level 18 necro, and these things are a hoot to kill. They con yellow or red to me, but not only are they easy to kite, they are so easy to kite I can regen while makeing mad xp on these. Engulfing darkness and fear is all it takes. They don't resist well at all. Just fear it till the pet takes it down, I haven't had to recast darkness yet.
I just wish there were more to take out! The regular elephants are cool to, they are dark blue and white.
I admit these things hit like a *****, but there's no need to pull taunt from your pet since all you need is the one darkness and a a couple fears. If you're resting the whole time you can actually regen mana while these go down.
Note that you owuld only do it like that if you were low on mana, once you've regened you can nail the aviaks with dots, and don't forget the great faction hits on those dump green escaped splitpaws. :)
I feel like such a hero after an encounter with one of these guys. A level 19 wizard was fighting one of these and was near death... however, I managed to taunt it with Wave of Enfeeblement and take the blow for him. Although I lost a lot of health (the bull elephant dual hits for 44), the wizard managed to kill it. Like the title of the post says... necromancer saves the day.
They con dark blue for my 19th level troll SK - I can cut one of these suckers down with my pet (same strength as 4th level necro pet) with no problems what-so-ever - don't even fear kite - just go toe-to-toe and cut 'em down. Can do three in a row before I need to med and rest.
Do I feel bad cutting these suckers down? Heck no - they're good XP and the ivory trade pays rather nicely - just call me the poacher. ;)
I'm a L20 druid, and can solo these with ridiculous ease.. basic snare tactics work really well because theyre so slow, and they dont have enough HP to last longer than my mana. A combo of stinging swarm, snare and lightning will take it down in seconds.. if it hits you, you've done sometihng wrong
i like elephants to im so sad to see them fall because when they do they cause an earthquake and you fall into a gaint crack. this wont happen but just a thought.
I killed 6 of these before I got one Tooth. I could easily solo them at 28, most of them were green. They usually drop small tusks as well. I'm not sure if it helped but I killed every elephant I came across as well. Thought maybe they were placeholders, not sure though.
As an 18 Wizard, I was soloing these things with easy. Get a Sow from a friendly druid, then Nuke a bull, run, turn and nuke, run, turn and nuke. Bring some money with you, cause the amount of nice and friendly druids/shamans is reducing out there, and most are charging...
Not hard, at lvl 20 I was soloing these things. Charm a normal elephant, feral spirit it, add a damage shield, send it after the bull. During the fight, dot the bull and run away to med. By the time your elephant is dead, the bull will be hurt very badly while still having the dot on it. Just make sure you have sow on for emergencies.

Ok, i have spent about 6 hours, & have only killed 3 of these guys. 1 near undead(north part of zone),2 was about 1/2 way between Birdhouse & LakeRathetear zone & 3 was east of the birdhouse on hill. No tooth, just got 4 small mammoth tusks. :(
Thanks, you might be right. Killed one a week ago he coned blue tome(Lvl. 22 Shaman). Killed him easy with the help of a lvl 25 Bard, & Lvl 30 Druid. I didn't get the loc, but we were on the west side of the zone. I am going to be hunting these guys religiously starting next week, when I hit Lvl 24 & get new Dot & DD spells. I will post my findings after I get my tooth.
I'm a magician. When I was 19th level, I was able to solo a red con bull elephant with my 17th level earth pet to help me. I sat there bombarding him with Shock of Flame (94 damage each) while my pet bashed at the elephant's knees. The elephant could have been anywhere from 22-24, though it seems likely he was only 22. Still, I killed him with virtually no problem; my pet didn't even die (down to about 15% health, and I was out of mana, but I killed the elephant!). Bull elephants are great exp at 19-20. I'm going back to South Karanas tonight!
These guys are too easy, I am lvl 16 necro with decent "stuff", he conned red to me, I pulled him with a DOT and set my pet on it, and later on FEARED him and hit him with 2 rounds of all DOTS I had, he still did not die, Hit him with FEAR again and later on finished him with off by hitting him with my LifeDraw and he dropped dead. He did not touch me at all, and also my pet lost only 75% health. He gave me excellent exp, got half a bubb.
