Well i have been helping a friend do this quest for her and the effort you have to put into it isnt worth what you get at the end. Would of been better to spend the time killing giants for plat to buy better armour.

You have of course rigth in one way, the "time vs benefits" calculation! Now! Is there good time spending hours of hours to play this game insted of working or doing somting more "produktive" in your real life? :-)
What I point at is that it is something more in EQ than just be as effecient as possible, To have fun!
This is an excellent line of quest if you are an "thrue" Paladin Sir! But I admit, there would not hurt if the stats of equipment out of qests was better than the one you could buy! :-)

I too was like you ( - until I read the post lower down. All you have to say is "what bar of alloy?" and he will give the cauldron and explain what's needed. Many thanks to the person who did post it, unsure of who it was again but it gained me my cauldron tonight.
Don't despair the quests are well worth it and the reward is a symbol the efforts required. I am 51st lvl and doing the quests to say I have.

sorry guys, but do this quest and you are wasting your time, you are better off spending your time leving rather than doin this quest, the stats arnt that grreat anyway, there is a lot better stuff you could be saving up for.

I agree its not the best but i have parts of it for the look only & about your DW i think it sucks nothing but high ac and lv 30-40 spell that don't work til they are almost all worthless. I could get some better armor by the time the effect would work.

I gave Ortallius, the Orc in South Ro, nine or 10 sets of three Cutthroat Rings. I then gave Rathmana Allin, the Erudite in South Ro, nine or 10 sets of 30 gold. This combination took me from indifferent to amiable.
I just paid the 30pp * about 20 *heehee* worked like a charm :) But I lost serious faction with shadowmen LOL

I would concur that you need Amiable and no better. I know of 4 ways to improve Sol Ro faction:
1) Kill Shadowed Men
2) Give 30 gold at a time to the Erud guy in the NW corner of South Ro
3) Give Derv Rings (3 at a time? Maybe 4?) to the Orc guy in the NW corner of South Ro.
4) Go to the graveyard in Mistmoore. Take the flower off the top of the coffin. Give it to the Shadowed Man behind the crypt. Repeat.
I started indifferent. I had accidentally been involved in one killing of the aforementioned Shadowed Man in Mistmoore, and killing him hurts your Sol Ro faction. I killed probably 30 or so Shadowed Men. I was still indifferent. I started turning in gold to the erud dude. Turned in maybe 300 gold or so, checking faction after every 30 gold. As soon as my faction turned amiable, I went back to the Temple and found my faction was high enough to get the cauldron. So I got it at amiable, and cannot imagine I was very far at all into amiable i.e. I don't believe you need "high amiable" faction, based on my experience.

Hello everyone,
I am qriting to see if everyone agrees with me that Ro armor isn't that great. Sure it's got some fairly nice stats along with Nice AC for a level 30 range player, but doesn't everyone think we should get more for spending 15 hours or more on each quest? I'm not saying this armor sucks or anything, but I think with the amount of time we spend getting the Ronium and the molds (also let me remind you that you can also fail at creating the Ro armor)we should have a few more stats added onto the armor. I currently am working on my Ro armor. I know, I know. You all are saying shut up if you don't have the Ro armor, but guess what, I have help many paladins get their components so I know the jist of getting these components. Basically, I think the Ro armor should posses some more stats. Like strength for example, I have max str of 118 with my Messager of the Queen and with my Ghoulbane and shield I have 122 str. Now the only Ro armor that +str is the BP. Abviously the BP on every catagory of armor is the hardest piece to get. SO by the time you get the piece you'll have better or it will be obsolite, like how Barellron Dushire proclaimed earlier. All in all, I think paladins armor of Ro should recieve more stats. If you agree with me, I thank you. For those that think I'm very insane, oh well. Thank you for your time and take care all!

Friend, whether or not this armor is worth it REALY depends on what server you play on (Older servers you hardly ever see this quest done) and what kind of resources you have (pp)

I went to Lord Seafire in the Temple of Solusek Ro to acquire the Sol Cauldron to make a Bar of Ronium. He was Indifferently to me and told me that he could trust me yet.
I went to Ortallius in Southern Desert of Ro and he was also Indifferently to me.
I went to Northern Desert of Ro and spent a few hours buffing and healing a group of 12 - 14 for free Cutthroat Insignia Rings. I also bought them from other players in the zone for 5gp each. I believe the merchants give you 1gp.
I turned in exactly 60 rings in sets of 3 at a time. This took me two trips. Just have empty containers with you. After the 60th ring, Ortallius was now Amibly to me.
I went to Lord Seafire and obtained the Sol Cauldron.
Yes, Rangers (not just Paladins) also need a Bar of Ronium to complete the IVY Etched Boot Quest.

Yes another class can create teh Ronium it is often sold for about 800pp a bar and no it is not no drop.

I just thought id post, even though previous posts have warned enough,about the faction needed. I went to him expecting ronium, instead i got a message saying '**** off'. YOU NEED GOOD FACTION. im currently indifferent and working in South ro on my faction ( too low to kill shadowmen ).
i hope noone else has to go though what i did, im really pissed off at searfire at the moment.

Im not to sure about the faction rating with this lord Searfire, my faction is already amiable and he still hasnt offered me the cauldron, any suggestions please?

Just thought I would let you know all about this guy, since I see no discription at the moment. This is the dwarf who gives you the item used to forge Bars of Ronium. The bars are used to make Armor of Ro (Paladin only, great except for the fact that by the time you get it it will be obsolite). As always, you need VERY good faction with the Temple of Solusek Ro.

Ronium is not only used for the Armor of Ro, it is also used by Ranger for there Ivy Etched Boots. Yes, I know, we only need on bar and Paladins need several, guess we are just a little lucky... Yeah... Right... Love my Ranger.
