I ran into these at the ruins. I know that they will recast the thorns if you dispell and mem blur or atone. And they make great pets for clearing out the greenies at the ruins.

Sorry, Let me clarify. Can the Bone Barbs out of Rathe Mtns be used for Totemic Quest?
YES indeed, the Bone Barbs from the skels in Rathe Mountains WILL WORK for the Totemic Greaves quest. I just completed it last night using them, and have the greaves to prove it. Perhaps it did not work at one time, and was fixed in a patch, or the other poster did it wrong.

i tried to use them from RM they did not look like the picture shown(the barbs) that is they looked like regular bones but called bone barbs.

Then you used the wrong item.
Barbed Bone Skeles drop 'barbed bone chips' which look like regular bone chips. These are NOT used for the quest. They drop 'bone barbs' less frequently. The bone barbs look like metal triangles.

Also -500, -2300 that the undead tower. Uncommon spawn and barbed bone chips are a rare drop...

-735, -1600 just east of Gutka at the skeletons circle... Also a place to make quick and easy XP for 15-25 power-level.

I don't think so... I've spent the last 3 levels in unrest, and I've never seen a barbed bones that looks like that. They're all brown.

The picture above is actually partly correct. They look like the one above AND a little more like monks. Depends on their level. Forget which one mean lvl 26. But the lighter ones are more rare.

Again this info is for the UNREST barbs...the thornshield they cast IS NOT permanent as i have seen one that just spawns casting it on themselves...it looks like the red clerical stun spell effect but it is a cast effect and can be dispelled and interrupted if you get it early enough...ii have never seen them have to recast it so i dont know if perhaps the duration on thier shields are permanent

The picture Above for the barb bone skellie is wrong...that looks more like a greater Dark bone or a dry bone...the barbed bones are the same coloration as the monks (in UNREST anyway) but are a bit taller... i have not fought in rathe so if the picture above is accurate to the rathe Barb bones then disregard this message.
