I can finally can cross-off this mob on my list. The key to winning the fight, I found, is coping with the annoying charm spells and the buffs that he receives when the Hymn mobs are absorbed (hint hint).
Defeated by: 100 WAR (spent a lot of time getting charmed) 100 battle CLR-bot (spent the entire time using undead nukes to compensate for Wirlem's insane regen) 100 J5 scarecrow-head rogue merc 100 J5 cleric merc (main healer)
Killed in a little over 20 minutes due to the target's heal abilities.
I managed to take him down today with a 100 mage, 100 druid, 100 bard with a tank merc, healer merc on reactive and wizzie merc on burn. Never really even tried to bother with the adds, just muscled through it. Took a few minutes, but no deaths. Druid mostly patch healed the tank, bard mostly got charmed and mage chain casted pets. Wirlem seems very fire resistant.

attempted to trio it. sk, bard, rog, knowing that we wouldnt come out on top but it was still a fun little thing to do. got a few laughs. brought it to 91% XD
not bloody likely, doing this fight right now and it seems to be every 30 seconds another add pops , some fight back, some dont , all immune to snares. Seems he may charm as well, starting @ 70. alot of (LD) started appearing on ppl that complained of not having control anymore
It's pretty clear that Wirlem should drop Steel-Welded Ringmail Coif but yesterday was the first time for us that he actually Did. So it can be added to his loot list: Steel-Welded Ringmail Coif
We attempted this event a few weeks ago, and this is what I have noticed:
1. Rampage - Yes, he does rampage AND wild rampage for full damage. Fortunately, the wild rampage appears to have a short range, so it can be avoided by meleeing him from max melee distance (which is easier said than done). There are small cubbies in the stage which tanks can corner him.
2. Regen - Yep, he has a A LOT of regen, making him seem as if he has more hp. This is not including the adds that heal him.
3. Adds - They spawn from the bleacher seats in front of the stage. Some adds (I believe the Hymn Of Sorrows ones) do fight back, some do not. They seem to spawn every two minutes after aggroing him. Adds need to die quickly. They are undead so pallies will really shine in killing these things.
4. Tanking - At 4.9k ac buffed, my level 80 WAR was hit for a max of 4.5k (non-defensive). These hits are delivered very very rapidly. Strangely, I don't remember him performing any flurries.
5. Heals - Expect to be in a long, enduring encounter. Try to conserve mana, but be mindful that your main tank's hp will greatly fluctuate due to Wirlem's harsh dps. Our healers spammed quick heals instead of doing a complete heal rotation.
6. Magic resistance - Our casters reported that he seemed to be fairly resistant to nukes. I didn't take the time to ask them what types of nuke he resisted. Guess I'll find out the next time we try him.
7. Tethered - Yep. Once he reaches the bleachers, he'll tether back onto his stage.
Our best attempt was getting him at 40%-ish. This was done with 25-30 people. My guild is mostly POR/Demiplane/Crystallos-group geared.
Respawns in how long? I know of one other guild on my server that kills this mob, looking for information on how long after mob is killed on his respawn. Someone said 30 minute spawn timer on the bottom, but that doesn't sound right for a raid mob...because then you could do some serious farming of this mob....wouldn't take long to get entire guild geared off him....so it really wouldn't make sense for him to have a 30 min spawn timer
Nukers (3 wizzies with enough mana should do easily, add another nuker if you can spare them to be sure, or a bard to lower resists) sit on East side of stage facing the East corner of the Audience stands. They should stay in range of healers, or have their own healer. If healer allows, this group can attack Wirlem between Remorse spawns. They beat up the Hymn of Remorse before it gets to Wirlem.
Healers hide behind the stage. This should be close enough to heal those in need.
Melee beat up the Hymn of Sorrow spawns. This will keep you fit, as those beetches rarely behave and stand still. Use range attacks on Wirlem between Sorrow spawns.
Start fight: Aggro and debuff Wirlem. He removes debuffs, so recast often. smack him down hard for 2 minutes, and then deal with adds, then smack him down more. Range dps will likely be on Wirlem whole fight if not designated to a particular role.
Remorse can summon pets. If nuker group has a bard, let bard beat it up. Or a Wizzie can play melee for a bit or summon a pet or 5 to deal with it, or you can just totally ignore them.
Remember: Every strat needs to be tweaked to your own raids makeup/abilities. And never, never attempt to raid without beer.
This guy also can frenzy. I only saw it once out of our attempts but when he does that it's ugly. I saw 8-10 wild rampages and about double that in regular rampage messages. Seemed to last about 30 seconds (honestly though I did not time it)

Some where saying they were DTed:

It was reported that the adds gave him a DS, caused an ae gravity flux (that one was fun he he)and respawn. They all follow the same path and buff/heal him when they reach him.
Some additional info to the good one already posted above by fcoty.
All adds seemed to have a lot more than 70k HPs. They spawn on or west or east of the stalls (where the visitors would sit in a theatre).
Hymn of Sorrow - hit with melee - slowly moves to the stage where Wirlem is. Hymn of Misery - hit with melee - appears to be the only one that actually hit anyone, our clerics first, then after a while just moved to stage. Hymn of Remorse - can be hit by melee, but when being hit all in range get knocked back, so suggest range/caster DPS - moves slwoly to stage.
Those adds do not spawn at 80%, but are timed, I reckon around 2 minutes after the fight starts. They also keep chain spawning when killed. You will see no XP message for killing one. On top of that, you can also have more than 3 adds up, but 4 seemed to have been the max for us.
When those adds reach Wirlem, they seem to give him different properties, for one being at least a 10% heal.
He ramps (large range) and AE (wild) ramps, but apaprently either only in a frontal arc (weird) or because of some other scripting. People reported standing underneath him and not getting hit once by rampage for 2 minutes, then all of a sudden they would get beat to pulp by it. We did not see any death touches however.
The trick for this as it seems is to get the MT/RT set up right, we had very weird rampage , people who couldn't be anywhere near his rampage list dying to it.
If you have one group for each of the adds and can keep them dead before they reach Wirlem, you should have a fair chance.
My guildie (tetman) posted the stats for the bracer he won, however we have no idea how to get that into Lucy after the fact. (FAQ didn't say how to do a manual update or an email to send to add it. So he posted stats here).
