She was pretty mean, killed her today with my 53 shadowknight. She hits hard and fast, didn't cast any spells, feared her and used dooming darkness. Even with dooming darkness on her she ran at what seemed to be normal speed which is strange because the spell was doing damage so it did take hold. Don't know if snare would help at all. I did take dervish faction hit at end of fight, no xp, and she just disapeared as soon as she died.

Dervs are indiff to me. I never killed any of them. Murissa is dubious. Paladins do not take kindly to uppity human scum.

After an unkind word from this whench, I decided to hasten her passage into the afterlife. She hits in the 100's and hits fast. I had to root (with dd) and drop several stacks of arrows on her behind. Got her to about half health before arrows and mana were real low. Stopped fighting her when I realized I'd have to use LoH eventually.

Bah, I'm gonna kill this bizatch one day.

I think you have not conned a dervish lately, or conned something near a dervish who was not one.

Murissa is indeed on dervish, Verified it with several character/race types.
Why Dubious?
# May 03 2002 at 1:33 PM Rating: Default
For all of those asking why Murissa Sandwhisper is Dubious, it's because she is on Derv faction. If you kill enough Dervs in NRO(and probably Oasis and SRO), you will decrease faction with her.

As far as I know, there is no way to improve the faction once that faction is harmed.
faction hits
# Jan 22 2002 at 12:39 AM Rating: Default
Finally killed her for no other good reason than to find her faction hits. This is what is said after her untimely demise:

Your faction with Dervish Cutthroats got worse.

And she mumbles something about comrades and vengence...

NO xp, just dissappears like all merchants.

SHes great to work on skills against though, if you snare her when she drops to low hp's she'll stand there and take a beating all day, no ripostes from her either, and she has a TON of hp's.

Shes dubious to a Tunare Wood Elf Ranger. What's her story? She hangs around in the n00b area near EFP.
Religious Issues?

I pass by her quite often in route to other places. Over the past 3 months she has gone from being in her shack on the beach and selling me stuff, to wandering out alone in the deserts. When she first moved out of her shack, you got the response about being too busy.

The last time I tried to talk to her she lambasted me for being an agnostic (Wood Elf) and refused to talk to me.
Large Sewing Kit

Is this the merchant who sells the large sewing kits?

Nah, Spoolie Gee in the one of Inns that sells large sewing kits.

Back to the issue at hand Murissa stopped selling to me too. I have no idea what factions she is on (someone should kill her and find out:)

I had just sucessfully evaded two lesser mummys by bringing them to the guards, and I decided to chill out for a bit at the Inn. As soon as I turned my back on this 'Merchant,' she backstabbed and pierced me to death.

Since I was still foolishly bound in GFay, you can imagine the thundering howl that resulted from this little boo-boo.

Be careful.

She sells a compass!
# Oct 19 2000 at 3:42 PM Rating: Default
She's the first merchant in the game that I have encountered selling the compass.

A compass is great for any character that has lousy Sense Direction ability.

Compass is great and easy to use. Just right click on it and it tells you the exact direction you are pointing at. This is a perfect Hot-button item, and it's 100% accurate (unlike Sense Direction)

I didn't know she was connected with the dervs until I killed a bunch of them and she wouldn't sell to me anymore. I wish something would have told me of the faction hit. Now, being a DE, is there any way to get back in good with her?

There is NO way to get Derv faction back up.
don't play around with her!
# Aug 03 2000 at 1:17 PM Rating: Default
Well, here's my story... one day i was soo bored i couldn't find anything interesting to do. then i passed this woman merchant, and think to myself. well, it's not gonna hurt to play a bit with her, will it? so i decided to send in my pet from a distance to attack her. well.... i thought to myself.. if there;s something wrong i can always zone into freeport.. which is fairly near to where i am. well, what actually happened was.. my pet DID hit her, but stopped, then started to run fast to me, as if SOW-ed, and bash me for 127 and 96 which gave instant death!!! lesson taken = don't play around with a higher power.
Bah!

Me and a 52 Shaman took her out pretty easy.

almost all merchants are level 45. if you have that few hp, you can't be over level 20. you should have known this already.

Murissa will deal with DE with faction issues and is a valuable supply of water near in the desert (which forces you to consume higher water at a higher rate).
Linked to dervs

This human female vendor near the east freeport zone is linked to the Dervish Cutthroats faction. If you kill many dervs she will not sell to you, kill even more and she will attack you on sight (which hurts, since she's level 45 :) )

so far as i know, merchants can't be KoS to you. because, they're merchants. and as we all know, when merchants move out of place, they refuse to sell. and that right there can cause a great problem. anyway, i killed murissa sandwhisper at level 54, just for the hell of it, and i got a HUGE negative hit for freeport militia. before this, they were amiably to me, after, they were threatening. a word of advice, DON'T EVEN CONSIDER killing murissa sandwhisper.

I really had to select which post to reply to so bear with me as I know the one I selected is old. Back in the day merchants that shared faction with the various npc groups would attack players that had killed enough npc's on the faction they were on. As you can imagine there was quite the hue and cry by the players as merchants *poof* when you kill them. Since this wasn't in line with risk vs. reward all npc merchants that would previously have been kos were reset to dubious for the offending players. Hence the reason why dervish cutthroats will attack but Murissa stays dubious. It's also the reason why the Innkeeps in EC no longer kill players anymore either as most of them at the entrance of the inns are Knights of Truth faction. It was a bit more interesting back then as you had to watch your step a lot more.
Not just Derv faction, and merchants can be KoS
# Mar 12 2001 at 12:39 PM Rating: Default
Previously she did attack me on sight (Glares Threateningly).

I've since increased faction with All of the various Freeport, Highpass, and Qeynos factions and in fact Lowered my Dervish cutthroat faction(saving younger players from them).

Now she cons Dubious.

She may be multifactioned as many non-guard outdoor NPCs are, but I couldn't say which one(s) as I changed so many since I last visited her.

I don't believe she has any CommonsResidents faction or FreeportMilitia faction however, and killing several thousand orcs didn't change her temperment at all when I first found her to be KoS.
