I HATE this mob! Finally get him to spawn, after about 6 hours of camping the smaller "elite" room. I know he's SI so I had my warrior UNinvis'd, and SITTING in the middle of the room. So what does Grock do? He pops on top of my cleric, sees thru his invis and kills him.
We finally drop him and he drops the wrong arms mold!
Once you break the camp it's pretty easy to hold it. However, breaking the camp can be a pain. I did this with a warrior, druid, shm, enc, wiz all level 75. Everyone died at least twice except the warrior.
Grock Mist Seer did not spawn. I submitted feedback saying given his difficult location he should not have such a rare spawn % especially compared to the other mobs that drop patterns.
When TSS first came out, I spent a lot of time at this camp. I have since come back to help friends out acquiring some patterns...
This mob *used* to spawn about every two spawn cycles (killing all 8 elites) back when the expansion was new. Shortly after they added the chieftains as spawns here and now you get a chieftain about every other cycle with Grock being about as rare as (if not rarer) than Chef Gudaz. I'm not 100% certain as to whether the chieftains used to just be insanely rare and they just upped the spawnrate of those at the expense of the Grock spawns of if they just weren't spawning at expansion release. Either way, it seems someone may have coded the chieftain spawns incorrectly .
Currently trying to camp leather sleeves for a friend -- coming up on a total of 30 hours completely clearing the back end of the fort area and only about half a dozen Grock spawns (2 plate, 4 silk, 1 chain).
Basically I am about to the point where I am just going to give up and help them get the ~2200 katta faction so they can get the TBS sleeves.
I never thought of petitioning. Nice try although it would shock me if it had any results. There are other "easier" options to get this pattern, just requiring the investment of lots of time. But you're right that I can't think of another named mob who is both so hard to camp and so rare.
One room has 5 elites, the other 3. The 5-room also has 2 wanderers, one being the named Keyholder. So 7 mobs potentially to cope with all at once.
I 6-box so I set up my toons along the far wall, to avoid aggroing yet another mob, the named Sayruk (sp?) who's just outside the room.
AOE-MEZ is a good thing. Fortunately it landed on all 5 elites. Then I engaged the Keyholder. It's kinda hair-raising to have 5 mezzed mobs in close proximity during a fight so I suggest making sure entire group is religiously /assisting the MT as he picks them off one by one.
20-minute respawn timer on these mobs. So that allows spacing of a little under 3 minutes each. Certainly that's doable, especially if caster summon their mounts for mana regen.
In 4 hours, though, about 12 clears, I never saw the named. Now he's a shaman so no doubt he can see invis. Camping his room means he's likely to get in the "first shot."
So this camp does have the potential to be awful.
Next time I'm considering just pulling all the elites outside, snaring them and then picking them off one by one. Assuming my puller can survive the initial tag. ;)
This guy is incredibly rare, spent 8+ hrs camping him and only saw him once(this is with me keeping the camp clear all the time). He hits 3k+ and has a 1k tick dot ae that lasts about 8 ticks that goes off right when you pull him
just an fyi this camp blows monkey butt, first off you need one hell of a puller (monk) to split the mobs and even then you will get adds as the mobs like to path thru the walls and find buddies otw to you, (not to mention buttloads of them to begin with, so watch out for those roamers and repops), so you will need a 75 chanter that can mezz most the things, plus a tank that can handle 2+ at a time and a very good healer to keep him alive, not to mention some good dps to take things down with. so unless u've got one hell of a group, forget bout doing this camp, and even then, it just mite b easier to camp the guys that only rarely drop the molds cuz at least you won't spend 3/4 of your time on corpse runs and mite actually get somewhere. after all, a mob that has a small chance to drop it is better than one you can't even get to to kill. /bleh this camp sux!
