Just tried this on Aradune. It's currently in DoDH era.

Trio was:
SK - Lv 70 - 21k hp 1420 ac 1010 AA
Zerker - Lv 70 - 13k Hp - Most DPS AA's
Sham - Lv 70 - 12k Hp / 11k Mp - All heal AA's, most utility AA's

Ran in and tanked all three with SK and tried to burn down Spiritcaller. Healing became too much for the lil shammy once SK epic click wore off. Got him down to about 40%. If I had a cleric it would have been easy.

Things to note:

He rampages, not sure if it's AE or sing target. The zerker was getting hit for up to 1400.
His mana drain AE can be ranged. I stood outside of his room on the shaman and was not getting hit, but still able to heal my SK.
He himself hits for 366-1743 /w max shielding. Definitely triples, possibly quads.
His adds hit for 243-941 /w max shielding. Double attacks.

Information seems accurate.

Took him down today, 88 Shaman 7000 AA, 88 pet, J5 Tank Merc.

Not a difficult fight, but had to be on my toes with AE heal. Resisted every spell. The adds went down quick with Turger's then Pocus. No resists after Turger's. Keep Talisman of the Tiger Up. Took about 4 min

Discordling Spiritcaller has both single target rampage and wild (AE) rampage. As noted in a previous post, he spawns with two mobs named a spiritbound feran. The ferans appeared to flurry, but not rampage. Part way through the fight he spawns four mobs named a spiritbound chimera, which also single target rampage (but do not flurry).

The named resisted a 105 necro's swift fire dot and swift disease dot, but was slowable with AA Malosinete and Balance of Discord. (Resisted the AA Turgur's Swarm, so I slowed him with the spell instead. Partially successful.) Bear in mind that most of what was cast was to check out his resists, not because any of it was necessary to kill him. I didn't have time to cast anything else on him before he died.

Deathly Chants isn't even an annoyance at high levels, but you'll want to cure it as often as Radiant Cure refreshes if you're low level and fighting this mob with mercs. It lasts 2+ hours, so it won't be wearing off anytime soon.

Just took down the Discordling Spiritcaller with my 90 Shaman and his 90 tank merc. It was a cakewalk with Canni and a group heal.

I have been working on my 2.0 Epic as level 101 Shaman and here is what I have learned about this guy:
  • He spawns up on the wall, just beyond Pyrique Redwing. When you go up the ramp at -250, 633, you will pass Pyrique on the left and head to the next alcove at the end of the hall, very close. The location is 262, 691
  • I spent hours thinking he was a rare spawn, but I think I just had taken too long since the "fooled" say to Hudar and he had despawned. Once I went back to Hudar and said "fooled", he was up
  • He has about 500,000 HP. Once I killed him, 6 "Spiritbound Crimera" spawned. After the fight, I did get a chest and there was "Discordant Leggins of Betrayal" in it

Took this guy down yesterday by myself as a 84 shaman with J5 tank merc. It took me a couple of tries to get the right tactic, but what ended up working was to make sure the merc had high level ranger and mage DS buffs then pull the Spiritcaller and get the merc engaged on him. Step back and spam HoTs/heals and let the merc's DS kill off all of the adds. Once they're down, it's a cake walk.

A tip for anyone doing this fight...

I 3 boxed it with 85 pally 85 ranger and 71 shammy a few weeks ago. 2 healer mercs and 1 tank merc for the dps... By the time this guy was at 70% mercs were almost OOM. This guy had massive insane hp regen... Didn't touch the adds at all in the beginning. I figured i was going to die so i killed the adds on the ranger... best choice i could have made. HP regen stopped on the boss and he dropped faster than i have ever seen a named of this level drop. Don't know if anyone else has tried this way but it seemed to work for me. Started with 2 ferans, they both split into 2 chimera's (4 total) don't think there was anymore than that. Easy fight after adds were made dead

I can confirm that this was pretty great advice. Box'd it with a 91 mnk with healer merc and 91 shm with tank merc. Tried it with just shammie and tank merc and got pwned pretty fast. Was surprised. All the other fights leading up to this point were dispatched by the merc nearly effortlessly. Brought my monk in and cleared all the adds first, then threw everything I had at the Spiritcaller. Fight went pretty quick at that point.

Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated!

The adds each have about 35khp and do above-average "pushback" for greenies (to 85). They tend to shove ya' around.

The named and to a lesser extent its adds are very resistant to spells. They seem most resistant to fire, perhaps slightly less resistant to magic, and seem to take ice the best (but is still no bargain). I can't comment on poison or disease.

Bring melee DPS when you do this. One level 85 solid melee DPS person can destroy it. It's not quite soloable though. Lotta adds make for considerable aggravation on that front, even though they're easy to keel.
Not too hard

Just burned him down with 80 Ranger, 80 Rogue and 80 Bst.

Ranger used WS to get solid aggro on everything then we all burned hard while ignoring the adds. The rogue died because he took aggro but that was the only death.

Wiped with a 20 person pickup raid, decided just to 3 box it.

Very easy with 3 characters (80 ranger 12k unbuffed, 79 monk 13.5k unbuffed, 79 shaman 10k unbuffed). Just killed the adds one by one, if it looked like a character was going to die and shaman couldn't keep him up, backed up out of the room and let them gate back. Took 15 minutes to kill all the adds, then just took the named down. Didn't need to heal once with Halcyon on the tanking monk. Named took about 5 minutes to kill once the adds were down.

Girplan adds into the fight.
# Nov 26 2007 at 10:02 PM Rating: Decent
Be prepared to possibly kill Girplan Guardian and the Druid 2.0 mob here when you kill this. Both of those fights are made much harder by the Girplan being directly behind this room.

Our 2 group force was handling the Spiritcaller just fine when 45 seconds into the fight, the Girplan shows up on the bridge and comes into the casters. It went downhill from there.

Killed Druid epic mob, was not expecting that, re-engage got the pups locked down & here come the fat Girplane. WTF why have so many epic mobs in the same place? Ran out of time to kill this, de-spawned <sigh> So any thoughts on how to deal with the Girplan? he need to be killed first if he's up I would assume.

Gate prevention
# May 14 2007 at 11:02 PM Rating: Decent
Discovered the mechanic last night. All the encounter mobs are leashed to the encounter room. If ANY mob leaves the room, they all gate, clear aggro, and heal up to 33% health if below that mark. Solution: fight inside the room. Buff your cold resist and you have a good chance of shrugging off the manadrain.

Ferans have low hp, OT them and keep wayward pets off them; they AE Deathly Chants as well and will pull pet aggro if the pet owners aren't responsible.

Beat the named down while keeping DPS off the dogs; then kill one feran, all its splits, then the other feran and all its splits. Easily done with two groups, if you know how. But now you know how.

Shammy epic fight
# Dec 10 2006 at 12:06 AM Rating: Decent
Did with 2 groups of Anguish geared peeps. It's a really basic fight if you do it right. The named mob spawns with 2 feran adds. Get 2 tanks who can NON-DAMAGE aggro them, because they have really low hp and if they die adds spawn and start raping. Get these two adds locked down by your offtanks, and then give them each a healer, the rest of raid beats up on the named mob. He casts a nasty manadrain spell during fight, can be cured with RGC.

So basically, do not kill the adds and instead offtank them non damage aggro, and kill named.
How many people do I need now?
# Nov 16 2006 at 10:51 AM Rating: Decent
So now that we're level 75 and have more AA's, how many people do I really need? Are clerics essential or will druids and shammys do the trick?

Not sure what happened with Dargot. I can confirm, today we didn't need to kill the adds to be able to finish off the Discordling Spiritcaller. Killing the spiritbound chimera adds just made them spawn more and more adds making the fight much more difficult than it needed to be. Go for the big named, offtank the adds.

I killed him today 08/12/06. We used 2 OT's on the Feran Guards, while the rest of the raid burned down the Discordling Spiritcaller. Once the Spiritcaller was dead, then we killed the Ferans. I'm not sure why you had bad luck, but I want to assure everyone else that it is not necessary to kill the guards in order to kill the boss.

He despawns if not engaged in my guess was 30 minutes. Also keep away any druids ready for their fight in that spot as well, or have them go first, that druid fight is easy so goes real fast. no other info atm as I discovered the depop the hard way. (
