I just did the turn-in. It was nerve wracking. The first time I went, I can confirm that yes, the mob near the table does in fact come beat on you when you uninvis. I freaked out and if I'd been smart I woulda just mezzed and done turnin.
After I ran back after dying trying to find a good solution there, I actually triggered 3 mobs on the way into the room, and just mezzed all three off, did initial hail, and then turn-in. Needless to say, I got lucky.
Definitely recommend standing behind taromani, and then mezzing the mob near table or rooting it (was a chimera for me).
As a Ranger i did the hand in while i was in Sneak mode. Placed myself behind and to the right of Taromani so i was just out of 'line off site' of the 'a companion chimera', did the hand in, then invised up again and left.
I imagine anyone could do the same with the goblin rogue shroud, and a cloudy potion.
I also used the level 70 goblin rogue shroud to do the turn in. When I zoned into RSS, I hit an invis potion and used hide and sneak. When I got behind Taromani, I clicked off invis and hide, and hailed him. Got the box, did the combine, and turned it in.
*[Mon May 01 11:12:11 2006] You are now protected from the chaos magic in Mata Muram's citadel. [Mon May 01 11:12:11 2006] Taromani says 'Yes, you haven't disappointed me. This is exactly what I was hoping to see, Eateruv. Mata Muram's forces will be hampered considerably. Now for your reward. . .' She kisses her palm and reaches forward, pressing the hand against your cheek. The skin is warm, almost unbearably so. You feel queasy for a moment, and when the sensation passes she withdraws her arm. 'You'll soon discover that his impenetrable defenses aren't so impenetrable after all. Soon you will be seeing the world through the shroud of Anguish.' [Mon May 01 11:12:11 2006] You gain experience!!*
Just tried this "stand behind the mob and turn in" and got my butt handed to me in less than 3 seconds. so it isn't a safe way to turn in. you need to at least kill the mobs in the immediate area.
I have a little idea and i know itys probarly been done as well but this works well 1. have HOT pots and Invis pots in your potion belt, and gate pots in your bags , invis to behind table ( i encountered no see invis at all 2 times i went there) .
2. have hotkeys said with each response you need.
3. have a bag slot open in inventory .
4. invis up run to behind table on wall, hit off invis and do all 4 hotkeys and you will have box, pop a hot pot and click invis pots and just run out to zoneout/ click a new invis pot each time yours fail. if you dont have alot of hp get buffs before you go.
5. Combine sigs outside zl , go back in .invis( you know someone is asking this lol ), head back to mob turn in click hot pot run out like before.
I've never been able to do the turn-in without aggroing the mob to your right, if you have your back to the wall. It's definitely possible to simgle-pull that mob to behind her, then kill it there without getting any adds - however, it's tricky. If you have the muscle to do it, clearing the room is, of course, the safest way.
It's definitely possible to get the container without killing anything if you're a Druid or Wizard, or are grouped with one. Just have the correct phrase hotkeyed, target her, drop invis and say the phrase. While you're getting whooped on, evac or have your group member evac. The container will still be on your cursor. This doesn't work for the handin since your trade window goes away once you start getting the beatdown.
This may not be the best place to ask this question, but here's what I've seen...
A lot of things suggest that the Dragorn are against the Muramites. There are quests out of Dranik's Scar given by dragorns to kill muramite mobs and even the guy who gives 66 - 70 spell is a Dragorn. Also you always gain faction with Mata Muram when you kill a Dragorn.
Now, this being said, why does a riftseeker (also a race against the muramites, obviously, you have + riftseekers faction anytime you kill muramite faction mobs) ask you to go and kill a whole bunch of Dragorns? They are obviously not up and coming warriors in Mata Muram's army if they are against him? Or are we to understand that the dragorns are an enslaved race and most of them succumb to Mata Muram and join his army while the few that struggle against him are the ones giving us quests?
Dragorns have a resistance, commoners, and turncoats. Those that are turncoats usually give the faction that muramites give when killed, although some seem to be set erroneously. The commoners (read slaves) are Children of Dranik. The resistance is Dranik Loyalists.
Children of Dranik and Riftseekers, at this time, are kos to everyone, even if your faction is maxed in a positive direction. This is probably because they do not care for or trust any outsiders.
The Dranik Loyalists are seeking the help of outsides to help try to drive the Muramites away. They are cooperative and even helpful to those that have proven their interest in helping them.
The Riftseekers are an enslaved race of the Muramites (you can read this in the lore in the manual that came with oow. It's in your EQ directory, a PDF file, Omens_Manual.pdf.) They are mischevious, especially the Pyrilens if you ask me, and Taromani is trying to help you to defeat the Muramites.

[Sun Oct 03 19:11:46 2004] Taromani says 'Greetings, Iksar. You have certainly traveled far from home. To what does Taromani owe the pleasure of this visit? Have you come to tell me a [story]?'
[Sun Oct 03 19:12:06 2004] You say, 'what story'
[Sun Oct 03 19:12:06 2004] Taromani says 'Splendid! I relish an opportunity to swap tales with mortals. Allow me to go first. In a shattered realm, there existed a twisted overlord that ruled all. He laid waste to entire worlds, destroying or consuming whatever he touched. Those that resisted his influence were quickly annihilated or enslaved. His lands were governed with an iron fist and later abandoned when they no longer served his purpose. This overlord was universally feared and despised. Yet, while his presence was eternally felt, the despot was rarely seen. He had sealed himself away in his citadel in the sky, flanked by his most trusted underlings. None [dared challenge] him there.'
[Sun Oct 03 19:13:21 2004] You say, 'who dared challenge'
[Sun Oct 03 19:13:22 2004] Taromani smirks and continues, 'The reason no one challenged the overlord was because his realm was fatal to all but a select few. The forces of chaos magic present there would tear most beings to shreds. Only with the proper protection could a mortal hope to enter the citadel of Anguish and survive the experience. It was the ultimate defense against invasion. However, there was a [flaw] in the overlord's plans.'
[Sun Oct 03 19:14:15 2004] You say, 'what flaw'
[Sun Oct 03 19:14:15 2004] Taromani licks her lips and whispers, 'The overlord failed to consider what would occur if a certain Iksar named Kinniku were to do a few favors for a Pyrilen named Taromani in return for her protection. Now it's your turn to finish the story. How does it end? Does the Iksar assist with the [favors]?'
[Sun Oct 03 19:37:05 2004] You say, 'i wish to assist with favors'
[Sun Oct 03 19:37:05 2004] Taromani says 'Very good. A life in Mata Muram's army is a dangerous one - often nasty, brutish, and short. He must regularly replenish his ranks, promoting the most talented individuals of the lower tiers to replace those that have fallen. Seek out and eliminate these promising soldiers, the up-and-coming members of his forces. Bring me their insignias in this case to prove completion. This will slow down their progress considerably. When you have done what I have asked, I will follow through with my part of the bargain and provide you with the protection you need to access his citadel.'
Taromani gives you a 7 slot container:
