Alright...got into Jaggedpine, set up camp. Group consisted of: two 75 2.0 monks; one 2.0 cleric; one 2.0 warrior. Two kodiaks were up, engaged one, both agroed, so we continued to beat the first down. The big boy spawned when the initial kodiak popped 80%, and engaged because the second kodiak was still engaged.
Amid running amok, countless adds due to bad critter faction, and one monk tanking, we beat him down to 25%.
Going back now with the same setup, and a 75 2.0 wizzy. Will repost with results. ------------------------------- Forest dragon, the second.
Heh, still the same set up, however, we double split the bears. One was pulled back to camp up on the zone wall which it was then beat the hell down, the dragon spawned and all went fine...until the warrior forgot about enrage...and it ate him. Literally. Monks worked him down to ZERO%, both died, cleric was oom, and this bastage claimed victory again, however...
Going back for a third.
We shall see.... ------------------------------- Forest dragon, the third.
Dead. Double split the kodiaks again, when the dragon popped, the cleric hit with an RDS, and two minutes later, my bard had the crystal.
and or how long has this thing been around - I been working JAg Pin almost exclusively for a few months and have never seen him before. Also, for those who like to solo the zone, he cons indifferent (although I have a ton of good forest karma for killing poachers) and truly is - ran right in front when at 50% HP and he didn't mess with me at all.
Was hunting in JPF this AM and came across both the Dire Kodiak and this dragon at the same time. Infact, they were both up and very close to each other in the SE part of the zone. (SW of the poachers camps)
AE range is alot longer in the front than the back, so have tank point his face away from the casters. They will be able to get a lot closer to the mob this way and not get hit by the AE.
tried with 17 (no sham or ench) and got him down to 70% 1st try, 46% 2nd try. Came back the next day, downed him with 24 (both sham and ench this time) no problem (time geared.)
So the staement that his AE is longer in the front vs. the back makes sense. His target will (should) be the main tank, which is attacking from the front.
Dragon does his AE strike targeted on the main tank, so the range is 200 using the maintank as the center rather than the dragon himself.
So having casters nuke from the back is a great idea. Unfortunately, it appears that all cleric spells have a max range of 200 so they will always be within the AE range.
