Dropped an electrum bar on Aradune today. Been hunting them alot for crafting purposes; this is the first time I've seen them drop any finer metals.

EDIT: Got a second electrum bar drop, also off a Muddite Elder.

I think the faction listed here is wrong.
First off, when I killed these guys, the faction hit that they TOLD me I was getting was that my faction with the Pickclaw Goblins and with Runnyeye Clan was getting BETTER and that my faction with King Xxorb was getting Worse.
So that alone seems to go against what is said up above. Further, before I started killing off these guys I had Ally faction with Rivervale...after I farmed some clay off of them, my faction with Rivervale was down to Kindly. I don't know why this is since it never said that my faction was being affected when I killed them.
They need to really look into this.

The Faction is right. Opposing means that it is raised. Faction is where it is hurt.

Went into this area last week and started killing these things. From what I remember they droped blocks of clay and ore. Good to collect if your working on low level blacksmithing or pottery. The ore stacks but the clay dosent. You can safely hang out at the enterance and pick them off one by one as they walk by. Kite them up the gorge, a little bit, close to the zone and its a cake walk. Some times they splash mud in your eyes and your screen goes black but just hang tight, move forward a bit so you keep hitting them, and soon your screen will come back. If your a caster then no worries, just stand back and blast away!

FYI-- Clay is now stackable. These guys drop clay, ore and muddite mud--> which is useful a) to sell, b) for poison making.

I've received two or three silver bars, and one electrum bar (one out of, oh, 40 or 50 I'd estimate I've killed).

The amount of blocks of ore dropped here is staggering. A barb shaman looking to skill up in Smithing and craft Imbued Ringmail should seriously plan to go to the maze with 7 spirit pouches and a bad attitude. And why not master Pottery while you're at it? Good stuff for tradeskillers.

Faction Correction
# Dec 30 2001 at 5:38 PM Rating: Decent

The minotaur affiliated monsters don't affect any factions except the King Xorbb's and the Runnyeye's. I was killing these for hours and decided to bank at Runnyeye. I got ok faction with Runnyeye until I killed one of the battlelord and got back down to dubious and the merchant wouldn't trade with me anymore.

Out of the 20 or so kills, one elder dropped an electrum bar! No other bars were seen.

Easy killing if done right
# Aug 06 2001 at 11:07 AM Rating: Default
These and the minors are pretty easy killing for rangers. The trick is to root, shoot, and nuke. The root lasts for a minimum of 2 arrows and a fire blast. Druids and wizards would root and nuke but the mana goes away pretty quick that way. Also, the little buggers don't run away so don't bother with snare. If you plan on melee bring backup, the mud-in-your-eye effect can really mess up your day.

I was hunting in the gorge today. When killing these (and the gorge minotaurs), I took a faction hit to King Xorbb, but I gained faction with both Runnyeye and Pickclaw goblins.
Hmmm

I'm a 20 ranger and have just discovered the gorge. I love these guys. Blue to me and drop good loot. I pull them with arrows, run to zone backwards shooting them all the way (I love my Trueshot) and when I get to the Runnyeye zone, Burst of Fire them to death. I always come in with about 6 stacks of bandages and have my bind wound skill way up now. With all the clay I'm getting, I've decided to take up pottery too. Is there anything bad about these things?
A brief study of the Muddite Elders
# Jun 22 2001 at 7:42 PM Rating: Excellent
Scroll file: Muddite Elders
Study: Qijnopix Quillpen

The muddites are small and stocky dwarf-sized creatures that are not at all alive. I have not had the opportunity to test spells that damaged summoned creatures, but I doubt it would have any effect - the creatures are not undead, and are not at all affected by holy spells. They indeed seem to be animated golems, composed of mud, though I do not know who creates them.

The elder of these creatures, as all muddites, run much slower then other races, and therefore can be avoided if neccessary - their run is slower even then the skitter of Fire Beetles. If you make a stand however, be well prepared. The Muddite Elders hit for a maximum of around 47 damage, and bash consistantly to stun. They also have a natural ability to blind, which lasts not quite as long as the spell of the same name.

Upon killing these creatures, I have found few items of worth - amongst blocks, small blocks and small pieces of ore, all of which sell for no more then 6 sp, they often drop muddite mud which sells for around 3.5gp and an occasional large block of ore that, while extremely heavy (around 24.5 stones), sells for 3-4pp depending on the familiarity of your local retailer.

Beware the Elders Muddites and their lower cousins, for they are much stronger then they appear. Only fight this battle if well prepared - preferably outside the entrance to Runnyeye, where they often walk across and can be easily attracted.

- Qijnopix Quillpen

Special Notation: Not often spoken of, the Muddite Elders have an outer layer of toughened mud which absorbs the first few attacks you send their way, similar to an Enchanter's rune spell. Magic weapon or no, this cannot be penetrated any way but by attacking them and sacrificing damage those first few rounds - but have no fear, for after the first few shots, they are as vulnerable as a naked high elf.

Actually they do not have enchanted skin. any of the creatures in there can have this on them due to wandering Evil Eyes casting this on them. I have watched the Evil eyes cast this on the creatures near it.

Hope this helps.

Personally I've made about 8 pp from one of these. Being a lvl 15 warrior makes going it alone impossible though. 2 tanks ( 15 and 16 ) with a cleric ( 14 ) took them down almost non-stop for 9 hours straight.
Hits Hard
# Mar 02 2001 at 3:36 PM Rating: Decent
When fighting this monster be very careful. Never fight it without a healer. It may conn green or blue to you, but watch out they hit hard. At lvl 16 they hit for 47 poits of damage. They give great exp and great loot. Justr be causious and you will be fine
#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 04 2000 at 1:42 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) THEY ALSO PUT MUD IN YOUR EYES. THIS CAUSES YOUR SCREEN TO GO BLACK, FOR ABOUT 1O TO 15 SECONDS.
Ore
# Aug 16 2000 at 1:04 PM Rating: Decent
Muddites sometimes drop a VERY heavy ore item - I believe a "large block of ore" that is like 25 wt or something equally ridiculous - that sells for a lot at a vendor. Newbies can sometimes do pretty well for themselves, just picking up the stuff people drop in the Gorge. My halfling rogue financed a lot of banded armor that way before he was level 10. He looked like a twink but wasn't. Just a scavanger.

hey, I'm a level 17 mage on the Rathe server, and I need 1 more research component before I can get my level 16 earth pet, a small brick of clay, all I've found are blocks of it, not bricks, do these guys drop small bricks of clay?
Muddite Mud
# Jun 30 2000 at 9:21 AM Rating: Decent
Muddite mud is very likely a component for a new rogue poison, with a blinding effect. Drop fairly often off Elders, and rarely off Minors (I have like 30).
Mud, Muddite

Has a potter tried "drying" this mud a big to make something like clay?
Maybe it can make something that hasn't been found.
Muddite mud?
# Jun 19 2000 at 1:48 PM Rating: Decent
I fought one of these and found 'Muddite Mud' on them with a blank(?!) Effect: on it. Hm, methinks this used to be for blinding? Or maybe the ability is still there . . . anyway, it's found on elders and I haven't seen many. Maybe it's new.
