64 mage, 70 wizard, 70 cleric, and 70 druid out playing around farming some spell research components. This guy has popped for us three times, much to our surprise. He dropped a Gnarled Mesh Bracer, Muramite Etched Scales, Reinforced Sandstone-Hilt Sword, and Sash of the Dark Skies. Interesting!
I took Kyv down twice tonight with a level 63 pally (self-buffed) and a level 61 mage. Unlike most of the summoning mobs in Natimbi that will summon 1-3 times per battle, Kyv will summon with much greater frequency. An air pet seems to work best with him due to the ability to stun. The pally stuns really help turn the tide of battle, for he hits quite hard but he really doesn't seem to have a ton of hit points. I would estimate that he has just slightly more than a regular noc.
Kiting him really isn't a good idea, for like the nocs he runs extremely fast, summons and has a ranged weapon. Fear kiting might work but he has a high magic resist and runs like a gazelle. I was surprised how a long a buffed pet was able to last (even with his hard nukes). My preferred tactic in taking him out: 1) Initial pull with damage absorbing shield on 2) Have pet establish agro. Melee chars fall back! 3) Debuff and cast malosi line of spells 4) Start casting DoT, AE wave spells 5) Stun the tar out of him while pet slowly dies. Cast heavy nukes as quickly as possible. 6) Root so pally takes agro and chain cast new pet. Use self heals or healing potions as pet resumes agro 7) Nuke until he is extra crispy
Also dropped a Tome of Bloodseekers Axe for me today (26feb, 2005). Easily boxed with a 65war and a 65dru. He's a runner too, so make sure you have snare if you lack the DPS and expect to fight him a few minutes.
killed it today and it seems to do an ae cast or proc did these dots that i seen land on me .Heartstopper , skull piercer and knee breaker. not sure when they were added but they are there now .and had that claws dot not sure if it was on from a previous kill or it cast it also. guess they wanted it to have more tools to kill us with :)
This guy does summon, was in a group killing nocs and he poped right on top of us, we managed to get him down to about 20% when he started shooting arrows at us and killed pretty much the entire group instantly, still not sure how he did it
We took this guy down easily, after he surprised and wiped 5 of group :(
However, one thing he dropped was Finely Crafted Bow - which I cannot find anywhere on this site - anyone know what it's for? There are no stats, it's not ND.
I would guess that only a Shaman can solo him now. He does summon, and max hit on my Ranger was 471. How hard he hits is pretty moot, it the poison proc that is a killer. Hits for 548 on my Ranger often even when he is slowed. I have killed him 6 times last week trying to get the weapon for a Warrior friend of mine with no luck :(
I can solo any of the mobs with a DC Hynid as a 65 Druid. If I am full on mana, with KEI, FoE, and 9s with regen on me that is (KEI is optional really, as the fight is too fast to really allow much mana regen, but it sure helps a little)
What I do it snare, Immolation of Ro, and take a couple hits until the Hynid gets aggro, then I cast the drogmoor and use Nature's Infusion to heal the pet. Jumping out of the way when I get summoned for the heals.
Be sure and have Savage Spirit, regen, DS, and 9s on the pet as well.
The whole time i was reading this page i saw nothing about a beastlord being able to solo or not... ill find out and get back to ya. if anyone can save me the trouble feel free to post it... i dont know when i can get around to it
Druids can also easily solo this guy. The secret to Kyv is that his arrows can only hit you when you are on the same elevation as him, and you are on hillside terrain. Tonight he was standing on an elevated platform with his little Noc friends, Stood below him, rooted, snared then dotted the Crap out of him. Cast an extra root occassionally to keep him still, endure 2 cast of Claw just before he dies and he croaks easy. Took 20% damage and looted Gnarled Bracer.
The belt seems to be this guys common drop - killed him 4 times and got the belt every time. Nocs are his place holder, he popped in a different spot everytime. Actually got him back to back in 1 instance. He also dropped the Spell: Circle of the Seasons for us on one occasion. He also dropped an arrowhead - have no idea what it's for yet.
I took this guy down, but it turns out he has 2 or 3 effects, and the all look the same on spell icon, but stack. It also seems that he procs them in order (you'll see that "casts a spell" message when he begins to do so, but the cast time is so short it'd be tough to avoid it), with the snare coming last. This snare will make a bard extremely dead. However, it seems he only starts casting these spells after he hits 25-20% health. What I did at this point was kited him by chucking easier mobs (nocs, warfiends, or any creature trash I could find) at him, as well as snaring and going out of range to get rid of aggro. He hits for 500, and also procs the normal GoD 500 DD, although he hit me for 540 with it. Took him down after dying once with my 57/56 bard (he undinged during the middle of the fight heh). As long as you know what you're doing, he shouldn't be too hard.
Killed this guy easily with a group of 4 low 60s. 61 ranger pulled (poof went 20%+ of his health) and kited while I (another ranger) followed (wielding Swiftwind and a Stained Axe of the Scions (so nothing uber). The other two (pure casters) threw their ******* on him. He never changed his target and went down pretty fast.
He was pulled to the bottom of the hill from the tower across from zone in point and kited in lazy circles at its base. Was fun, if a bit quick.
He dropped the Sash as listed but also the Muramite Etched Scales, not listed and the main point of this post. First time I was involved with taking him, wont be the last.
I found this guy normally don't use his range attacks till he is near death. At that point he used 2 differnt types of snares on me. I have killed him twice got the sword and the belt.
Ok all i can say is this guy hurts. He may have been taken down a bit from when GoD came out but when i fought him it hurt. I was in natimbi with this level 65 ranger.(I was a 53 shaman at the time). We were just fighting the crag dudes and doing great but then he says o im gonna pull this archer guy. Hes kinda hard just try to root him. Once hes rooted i can take him. So i was sitting down and he didnt call the friggin pull so bam im down to 50% from a quaded arrow. He says root it root it so i did. I run away but guess what. HES AN ARCHER!!!. So i died and by the time i got back some other guy said that, that my ranger friend died and it took 2 other 65 rangers to take him out.
As near as I can tell, any Noc is a PH for this guy. I have found him at the tower near zone in, near the turtle pond, at least 2x roamers are PH's, at the 'toilet bowl/arena', on the steps to Qin. Never seen him pop at the same place twice. Killed him maybe 8 times. Always were a noc would normally pop.
Owned this guy today.. was dot kiting him around the shore near the camp. wasnt that hard. snared and dot'ed him to death. got slowed and stuff but i outran him with aa horse.
This guy is bad news. Make sure all your resist buffs are up as well as regen. If you have DC grab a hynid fleshripper because the fleshrippers will shred this mob as long as you keep agro. Spell line up: Snare, swarming death, winged death, natures infusion, tunares renewal, gate, summer's flame, ro's illumination. If your DC mob gets agro, Immediatley gate or you will most certainly be killed. So far, I have 2 wins and 4 losses vs this mob. TP Server
You forgot Flame Lick in your spell line-up. Yes, the Level 1 spell. Once the mob is snared, chain cast Flame Lick to keep aggro with no problem. It's a debuff, so it generates great aggro for little mana. That's what is used in HoH kite groups to keep aggro.
I killed this guy for the second time on my ranger the 17th of February and he dropped something called a sack of bloody eyeballs or something similar to that. I was just wondering if anyone knew what it was for. If I remember correcly it is droppable. Might just be vendor fodder but I thought it was funny sounding 8)
