I say this because they seem to be social to OTHER mobs...
I was farming silks and Mammoth tusks in Everfrost and I root and DoT a mammoth. I then walked over to let it aggro me (activating my pet) so I go walk back up the hill like any good Chanter, to let me pet take the "heavy fisted" beating of a mammoth, while I kept it rooted and threw Chaos Flux at him.
All of a sudden an Ice Boned skellie staarted beating on me. He wasn't a problem and the damage was very nominal be I shocked me. I know mammoths are socail (which it why I only solo isolated ones) but a skellie socail to a mammoth? What the hell?
I don't think they're dumb, they just have high hostility to any PC. The normal Skeletons in Everfrost will still attack anybody they come across, even when you're many levels above them. I guess the Ice Boned versions are just the same. I don't think they 'social', I think they're just 'anti-social' , ;-)
Worth mentioning: You need magic weapons to hit these
most undead mobs will attack on sight, due to being undead, hehe no brain, most of any undead will aggro if not in a dungeon some undead that are in dungeons, wotn aggro even if you sit by them, due to the scripting for that dungeon but undead are supose to be a bit stronger than normal mobs, they are quite handy with exp :)
In the secret cave in Everfrost, there are a group of them guarding a rod for a wizard quest. These skeles conned light blue to me and Im level 22. Word of advice... wizards, don't solo them. It won't work.
so you do need magic weapons to hit them? What else on the first and second level do you need magic for?
I am a completly non twinked warrior, even though I have a 45 level druid on the same server. The best Item I have at level 12 is ring +2 STR that I bought. I'm using fine steel long sword and mostly leather armour. Should I even bother going in?

Ouch it took a necro, a rogue, a chanter, and a bard (all lev 5) to take out stupid mister bones here...*sigh* and my warrior (my main) could sneeze and send an ice boned skeleton runnin' for his mommy bone.
Well, I am a lvl 13 Ranger and I could not even harm the skeleton! It continuously reported that it was invincible when I tried to hit it. So, it appears that they can only be harmed by magic (or magical weapons). Funny that this is not listed here yet... ;)
Met Icey today on level 2 of Befallen. It was a tedious job for my lvl 16 monk to take him down with just Tiger Claw. He dropped Crystallized Marrow. Anybody know what that's used for?

I took one this morning by myself (wizkid). Gave me enough exp to make 16th. Used the standard root and nuked. Planeted him and laid into him with the lightning. He neve once cast on me. He carried something like 7 or 8 gold.
The Ice Boned Skeleton room under the ice in Everfrost is a great camp for a young Necromancer. I did it at level 14 and I'm sure it could be done at level 13, maybe even 12 if you are twinked. There is a room with 2 skeletons. As a necro, you have Resist Cold for you and your pet, as well as Numb the Dead to help you break the spawn. Of course, Ward Undead comes in handy too. Once broken, you can camp in the back of the room and take them one by one as they respawn. You will have to get an Enduring Breath cast on you to get there, and you should bind near the entrance, and be careful not to die near your bind point or you will respawn there with nowhere to run. I hope some young necromancer out there gets some use from this. I camped it for 2 levels in one day.
lil ol me, a level 16 rogue... soloed an ice bone skel the other day... made me feel all special inside... then again... I have 2 magic weapons, got a backstab in on him before he saw me, etc... but shhhhh...
These fun-loving fellas do not spawn on the second floor, except possibly in the Ogre Shadowknight's room. Still you _will_ get trained by these fellows every once in a while, as some group flees for their life out of floor 3. If you see one, and don't have a group well equipped with magic attacks, RUN.
Worse than the foul-tempered bunny rabbit from "Monty Python and the Holy Grail." 'E'll do yoo up a treat, mate! Of course, I had no magic weapons at that time...
Careful with these if you've never encountered them. They're spell casters and like their mates in Oasis, the dry-bones, the best tactic is to melee them and stop them from casting.
I whacked one of these solo at lvl 15 (druid). I was grouped with a lvl 13 bard at the time who was in the middle of attacking Mammoth when ol' ice bones strolls on over ! my buddy didnt have a magic weapon, so it was all up to me.. ice boney conned dangerous blue.. but thanks to my mammoth leggings, his cold spells didnt pack as much of a punch as they could have... i wound up winning the fight just shy of two bubbles of hp left and an elevated sense of pride :)
