This was a tough one for me. Going through the Hunter's achievement, you're expecting some tough camps. However, there are always ones that give you that feeling that it's either never going to spawn, or it's not where the map says it should be, or the spawn is broken.
This mob felt like that to me. It took me 2 days (on and off) of firstly just killing the mob on the Good's map - this was a single mob in a tunnel near the chasm. Then I started to kill the mobs around Xeximoz as well, but still no joy.
I looked on Magelo and noticed that the spawn seems to be anywhere in the tunnels. Due to this, I started killing all thought leeches on the map.
Eventually after about 10 runs of clearing the entire map of leeches, he finally spawned - on the same ledge / corner as Xeximoz.
Unfortunately, I don't know whether the post above that says he pops near Xeximoz is absolutely correct, or he can spawn in multiple places and he just happened to spawn on the ledge that particular time.
Either way, he was my last mob and I'm glad I can leave the Deep (although I may need to return to kill the shreikers for the Slayers.

to confirm, I also found him in the northern opening to the chasm, east side. He was the isolated one, down in a gulley nearest the edge of the trench.
I invised and went over the invis bridge. I took a left at the bridge and went straight until I ran into the wall and there was a cave on the right with about 7 mobs. They're spaced enough to be pulled easily by a monk or such. All the mobs in there do drop the shard. I got mine on the 7th mob I killed
