there are 2 spirits. one male and one fdemale. I have seen both up at same time. killing the female one just makes it impossible for cleric to do their temperance spell quest. if you see the female leave it alone and give notice of it to as many peeps as you can. its a rare spawn.
If the male spawn is not up kill the undead in the area immediately around spawn point. that will have the effect you desire.

This creature can be spawned after you hand in A Black Medallion to the Erudite Paladin in Gunthak.
Once it's handed in, begin killing the undead within about 25 feet of -1100, -1100, and eventually the Erudite Spirit will pop immedietly after one of them.

Just been talking to a friend and they are convinced pallies can get their 'temperance' spell by handing in a deepwater emblem, not to the female erudite spirit (as a cleric would) but to the male spirit.
Can anyone confirm the validity of this claim?

It's BS. The pally temp spell is called Austerity and it comes from doing LDoNs. There's a group version of it as well from a different LDoN camp. I'm pretty sure it's exactly like temp except it has a required level of 44+ or so. I know for a fact I can cast it on a 44 because I just did a moment ago.
just got my ethereal healing thing or what ever from him, and a necklace...pally loy spell.
